Moses Smith CNS Race Recap

It was looking to be a great race for the No. 16 Hasa Pool Products/White Flyer Toyota team at Colorado National Speedway. Moses Smith from Bill McAnally Racing posted a top-ten time in the first practice and a top-five in the second. Smith went on to put the No. 16 Hasa Toyota Camry on the outside of row two to start the Toyota/NAPA Auto Parts Bonus Challenge “150.”

Ten laps into the race and under green, Smith had to bring the No. 16 to the garage with a cut right rear tire. The team quickly changed it but Smith would reenter the race three laps down in 18th. He persevered and began passing through the field working to race his way back to the front. Clearing the field, he got up on the wheel and continued to make gains. By lap 136, Smith was shown in fifteenth where he would finish.

“It was a tough night for the Hasa team,” said Smith. “The guys worked really hard to give me one of the fastest race cars on the track. If it wasn’t for the flat tire early on that forced us to pit under green and go three laps down; I think you have seen the Hasa car on the podium again.”
Smith is sixth in the NACAR K&N Pro Series West chase for the championship and only 52 points out of third.
The Toyota/NAPA Auto Parts Bonus Challenge “150” NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race will be televised on SPEED Channel on Thursday, August 19th at 3 pm PST.
The next race will be in Toole, Utah as the teams return to the nearly 3-mile road course of Miller Motorsports Park on September 12th.
