Greg Biffle was the last car to go out for qualifying for the Coke Zero 400. He earned pole position as he knocked Carl Edwards from that coveted top spot.
It means a lot to us,” Biffle said at the time. “What means even more is all these other teams coming up and congratulating us. We’ve been working really, really hard. Just really excited for the whole team. I’m just happy to be driving it.”
The excellent qualifying effort turned out to be an omen. Biffle, who started the race from the pole for the first time since 2012, also managed to picked up his first top-ten since September. Despite his involvement in the “big one” on lap ninety-one, the “Biffle” earned an eighth place finish. In addition to his pole, Biffle lead on lap twenty-nine.
Interesting Fact: If Gregory Jack "Greg" Biffle can win the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup championship, he would become the first driver in NASCAR history to capture the championship in all three of NASCAR’s premier series. Biffle won NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) and NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) championships in 2000 and 2002 respectively. With nine race remaining before the chase, Biffle is twenty-second in the NSCS points stands.
