High banks of Daytona await ARCA Menards Series Drivers for 2026 Season-Opener

High banks of Daytona await ARCA Menards Series Drivers for 2026 Season-Opener

Just like NASCAR’s three premier divisions, the ARCA Menards Series opens every season with a trip to the historic Daytona International Speedway.

Daytona has hosted events for the ARCA Menards Series since the 1964 season, with the first checkered flag belonging to Nelson Stacy. Since that day, numerous other notable names have visited Daytona’s Victory Lane in an ARCA Menards Series race, such as Iggy Katona, Jack Bowsher, Benny Parsons, Tim Richmond, Bobby Gerhart and Kyle Busch.

The racing at Daytona has changed in numerous regards over the past several decades. Following the introduction of restrictor plates, drafting is now a cornerstone of every ARCA Menards Series Daytona event, which requires drivers to be patient and time out their runs to move toward the front and avoid getting collected in a major accident.

Daytona’s prestige has once again attracted a large field of competitors for this year’s race, with 50 cars vying for 40 starting positions. Every driver entered has the same goal in mind: Keep the car in one piece and fight for an opportunity to be immortalized as a Daytona ARCA Menards Series winner.

Double The Money: 2026 Daytona 200 Winner To Pocket $50,000

Double The Money: 2026 Daytona 200 Winner To Pocket $50,000

The Points-Paying 2026 Daytona 200 Will Feature A Purse Of $250,000

Double The Money: 2026 Daytona 200 Winner To Pocket $50,000

One of the newest traditions for winners of the Daytona 200 in recent years is participation in the Daytona Champions Program during the DAYTONA 500 weekend.

Daytona International Speedway and MotoAmerica have joined forces to elevate the 2026 Daytona 200 to new heights, making it one of the richest motorcycle races in the event’s storied history. With a total purse of $250,000, a 43 percent increase over last year, the stakes are high, with the winner of the 84th running of the “Great American Motorcycle Race” taking home a $50,000 payday.

And the money doesn’t stop at the top as the three who ultimately stand on Victory Lane following the March 7 running of the Daytona 200 will earn $100,000 collectively. In addition to the $50,000 for finishing first, second place will take home $30,000, with the third-place finisher third pocketing $20,000.

The purse will pay out to 30th position, with 21st through 30th earning $2500.

In addition to the increased purse, the 2026 Daytona 200 will also be the first 200 since 2014 to pay AMA National Championship points, making the already prestigious race even more so.

Dunlop has also jumped in to add to the program with MotoAmerica’s spec-tire company to supply MotoAmerica Premier entries with 10 tires per rider. Additionally, the Speedway will pick up the Dunlop tire bill for the first international finisher in the 200.

“The Daytona 200 has always been one of the most prestigious motorcycle races in the world, and with the increase in purse to $250,000 the importance of the race just took another step forward,” said MotoAmerica President Wayne Rainey. “This year our fans will see some of the best racers and teams in the world battling for the $50,000 winner’s check with the additional incentive of earning valuable MotoAmerica championship points. We’re looking forward to an incredible weekend of racing, March 5-7.”

In addition, the winner of the 84th running of the Daytona 200 will continue the tradition of receiving the much sought-after Rolex Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona watch.

“The Daytona 200 has always held a special place in the history of both Daytona International Speedway and in motorcycle racing as a whole,” said Frank Kelleher, President of Daytona International Speedway. “By significantly increasing the purse and the return of AMA National Championship points, we’re making a clear statement about how much this race matters. The Daytona 200 deserves to be a race that rewards excellence, attracts the very best riders in the world, and carries real weight for everyone who lines up on the grid. We’re proud to work with MotoAmerica to continue elevating this iconic event and ensuring it remains a career-defining win for the competitors.”

Additional prize money will be handed out pre-race as MotoAmerica has announced that it will host the fifth annual Pit Stop Challenge at Daytona International Speedway on Friday, March 5. The Pit Stop Challenge features the top teams in the Daytona 200 showcasing who has the fastest pit crew.

One of the newest traditions for winners of the Daytona 200 in recent years is participation in the Daytona Champions Program during the DAYTONA 500 weekend. The winners of some of the most prestigious motorsports events in the world across multiple disciplines, including the Rolex 24 At Daytona, DAYTONA Supercross, American Flat Track, and Mission King Of The Baggers, take part in a VIP experience and media opportunities for “The Great American Race.”

Ryan Preece Wins the Clash at Bowman Gray

The First #Win is Always the Sweetest!

Ryan Preece Wins the Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium #NASCAR

RFK Racing’s Ryan Preece won Wednesday’s Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium, claiming his first win at the NASCAR Cup Series level. This win also marks Ford’s 11th victory in the Clash.

Ryan Preece Wins the Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium #NASCAR

“Congratulations to Jack, Brad, Derrick, Ryan, and everyone at RFK Racing on the Clash win at Bowman Gray,” said Doug Yates, President and CEO of Roush Yates Engines. “Starting the year with a win gives us great momentum as we head into the 2026 season, and it’s a proud moment for everyone at Roush Yates Engines and Ford Racing.”

Ryan Preece Wins the Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium #NASCAR

“I don’t even know what to say. It’s been a long road. And it’s the Clash but man, it’s just been years and years of grinding. Just super thankful for Brad Keselowski, all our partners, Jack Roush. Two years ago, I didn’t think I was going to have a job. I thought I was going back to Connecticut. Man, I’m just super, super, super emotional. We had a really good car, and I felt like we were fighting adversity all day. Trying to come from the back, we got a lot of good spots. When we were putting rain tires on, man, this is as much of a mental game as anything, and I felt pretty beat up. We had a couple of restarts go our way, and before you know it, you’re in the front two rows. Then the claws just come out. I’m speechless. I’ve got to thank Ford, Ford Racing and everybody there with all the support they give us. As far as emotions go, when you work as hard as I have, I hate talking about it because I hate getting emotional about it, but it’s not just the Clash – winning means everything to me. I’ve put a lot into it,” commented Preece.

Originally scheduled for Sunday, winter weather pushed the Clash to Wednesday, where it marked the unofficial start of the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season at historic Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. With heat races canceled due to weather, qualifying set the first 20 positions in the field, one provisional spot was awarded based on last season’s points standings, and the final two transfer positions were determined by the Last Chance Qualifier, rounding out the 23-car field.

2026 season preview: Wood Brothers Racing

2026 season preview: Wood Brothers Racing

Josh Berry is a dark horse candidate heading into his third full-time Cup season.

2026 season preview: Wood Brothers Racing

Wood Brothers Racing

  • Manufacturer: Ford
  • Engine: Roush Yates
  • Driver-Crew Chief pairing: Josh Berry-Samuel "Miles" Stanley (No. 21)

Team outlook: Wood Brothers Racing enters 2026 with momentum, looking for a third consecutive season with a victory and a second with driver Josh Berry. In just his fifth start with the team, Berry took the iconic No. 21 Ford to Victory Lane at Las Vegas, securing a 2025 playoff berth in the process. And before Harrison Burton's 2024 Daytona victory, which doubled as the organization's 100th at the Cup level, it had been since Ryan Blaney in 2017 that the No. 21 entry had won. The fruits of the family-owned team's labor have paid off, and Wood Brothers Racing is primed for another stout season with Berry behind the wheel.

Josh Berry, No. 21 Ford

Experience: Two full-time seasons in NASCAR Cup Series; 84 starts

2025 stats: 16th in final Cup Series standings; 1 win, 3 top fives, 8 top 10s, 0 poles, 207 laps led

Driver outlook: Berry earned a playoff berth last spring with his first career Cup win at Las Vegas, but his season spiraled upon reaching the 10-race postseason. He finished dead last in all three Round of 16 races, crashing in the first two events and suffering a brake issue in the cutoff race at Bristol. So entering 2026, Berry must certainly be motivated to shed his playoff woes and make a deep run toward the Bill France Cup. He nearly banked a second win later in the 2025 season at New Hampshire, and a seventh-place finish in the finale at Phoenix gives him momentum into the new campaign. Berry's ceiling is extremely high, and at age 35 nearing the prime of his career, he's a dark horse candidate heading into his third full-time Cup season.

Joe Gibbs Racing Celebrating 35th Anniversary

Joe Gibbs Racing Celebrating 35th Anniversary in 2026

JGR will Honor Team's Past Drivers, Employees, Fans and Sponsors

Joe Gibbs Racing, the winningest team of all-time across NASCAR’s three national series, is set for its 35th season in 2026. The organization has a variety of activations planned to celebrate the team’s history, fans, partners, and the Gibbs family.

Over the team’s history, Joe Gibbs Racing has earned 448 victories in NASCAR national series competition, including 227 NASCAR Cup Series wins and 221 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series wins. JGR’s pedigree includes championships with Kyle Busch, Bobby Labonte, and Tony Stewart in the Cup Series, and O’Reilly Auto Parts Series championships with Busch, Ty Gibbs, Daniel Hemric, and Daniel Suárez. The team also helped launch the careers of other standout drivers like Christopher Bell, Denny Hamlin, Erik Jones and Joey Logano.

“It’s hard to believe we’re celebrating our 35th season,” said Dave Alpern, President of Joe Gibbs Racing. “What started as Coach’s dream on a piece of paper has grown into something truly special. From day one, he’s said you win with people—and that’s been true every step of the way. We’re excited to celebrate this milestone with our JGR family, past and present drivers, and all the partners and fans who make all of it possible.”

This season, JGR 35th Anniversary branding will be displayed on all of the team’s entries in the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and the ARCA Menards Series, as well as on team equipment and apparel.

One significant event to celebrate the anniversary will be Joe Gibbs Racing Fan Day returning to the team’s Huntersville, North Carolina, headquarters for the first time since 2019. The event on Friday, October 9, will include appearances from current and past JGR drivers, sponsor activations, and more. Additional details will be announced at a later date.

JGR will also reward fans with unprecedented promotions throughout the year, including access to team members, unique experiences both at the track and at the shop, and chances to win one-of-a-kind pieces of memorabilia from the organization’s history.

JGR will also shine light on memorable moments from the organization’s 35-year history with behind-the-scenes content across the team’s social media channels – FacebookXInstagram, and TikTok.

Richard Childress to Receive Prestigious 2026 Horatio Alger Award

Richard Childress to Receive Prestigious 2026 Horatio Alger Award

Horatio Alger Association recognizes Members for their lifelong achievements and commitment to ensuring the American Dream for future generations.

Richard Childress to Receive Prestigious 2026 Horatio Alger Award

The Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans, Inc., a nonprofit that honors leaders who have overcome adversity and supports young people in furthering their education, today announced that Richard Reed Childress, Chairman and CEO of Richard Childress Racing, will receive the prestigious Horatio Alger Award and become a lifetime member of the organization. Childress joins 10 other exceptional corporate, civic, and cultural leaders from across the country in the 2026 class of honorees. For the last 79 years, the Horatio Alger Award has recognized esteemed individuals who have reached remarkable success despite significant challenges, and who demonstrate a strong commitment to higher education and philanthropy.

Born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Childress faced profound loss at five years old when his father passed away. As a young child, he demonstrated a strong work ethic, earning his school lunch in first grade by cleaning the lunchroom and sweeping the hallways. As he grew older, he continued to work, selling peanuts and popcorn at the local stadium on weekends to help support the family.

Childress discovered a passion for car racing at a young age, dreaming of one day becoming a racecar driver himself. As a young adult, he turned that dream into reality by purchasing an old taxicab for $20 and transforming it into his first racecar. What began as a one-man racing team grew over decades into one of the most respected organizations in motorsports. Today, Richard Childress Racing employes more than 400 team members supporting full-time operations in the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series. Over his storied career, Richard Childress Racing has amassed more than 200 victories across NASCAR’s top three national series, including 17 championships, three Daytona 500 championships, and three Brickyard 400 victories. In recognition of his remarkable contributions to the sport, Childress was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2017.

“Throughout my life, I’ve learned how important it is to find your passion and pursue it with relentless dedication. You have to be willing to put everything on the line. My passion for racing began when I was just a kid at the track, and that spark has stayed with me ever since, pushing me to chase success in the sport I love,” said Richard Childress. “But passion alone isn’t enough. Surrounding yourself with people who share your drive is a source of strength that leads to success. That’s why being part of the Horatio Alger Association is so meaningful. This community of dedicated members works together to uplift young people as they follow their dreams. I’m honored to join in that mission.”

Beyond his accomplishments on the racetrack, Childress and his wife, Judy, are committed philanthropists. In 2008, they partnered with Wake-Forest University Baptist Medical Center to establish the Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma, which has grown today into a nationwide initiative dedicated to prevent childhood trauma and life-threatening injury, the No. 1 killer of kids in America. The Institute funds research, education and advocacy to help improve the care and treatment injured kids receive throughout America.

“Richard Childress is an exceptional leader whose integrity, resilience, and commitment to excellence has long distinguished him in the world of motorsports and beyond,” said Marcia G. Taylor, President and CEO, Bennett International Group LLC, a 2017 Horatio Alger Award recipient who nominated Childress for the Award. “Through our partnership with Richard Childress Racing, I have seen firsthand how his dedication to his team, his industry, and his community reflects the very qualities that the Horatio Alger Association seeks to honor. I am pleased to support his induction and congratulate him on this well-deserved recognition.”

Childress and the member class of 2026 will be formally inducted into the Association during the 79th Horatio Alger Award Induction Ceremonies in Washington, D.C. in April. The annual ceremonies coincide with the Horatio Alger National Scholars Conference, which gives more than 100 students the unique opportunity to explore the nation’s capital and to meet and learn from Association Members.

Roto-Rooter Joins Trackhouse Racing for 2026 NASCAR Cup Series Season

Leading Innovator in the Plumbing and Drain Cleaning Industry Partners with Connor Zilisch for multiple races

Roto-Rooter Joins Trackhouse Racing for 2026 NASCAR Cup Series Season

Trackhouse Racing announced today that Roto-Rooter has joined the team as part of a multi-year, multi-race agreement and will be the Official Plumbing Installation, Repair and Replacement Services Company of Trackhouse Racing.

The relationship with Roto-Rooter and Connor Zilisch dates back to October 2024 at Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway when the young driver made his third career NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series start with JR Motorsports (JRM).

“We’re really looking forward to taking the next step into the Cup Series with Connor and Trackhouse Racing,” said Thad Reinhard, President of Roto-Rooter Corporation. “Connor has been a great representative for Roto-Rooter the past two seasons at JR Motorsports. He’s a great young kid and incredibly talented behind the wheel. We feel very fortunate to have this opportunity and we’re all excited for the 2026 season.”

In 2025, Zilisch and Roto-Rooter teamed up to win a thrilling O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race at Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway. He held off Trackhouse Racing teammate Shane van Gisbergen to win the 79-lap event. Zilisch grabbed the lead for the final time on lap 48 and held on for the next 32 laps, despite intense pressure and a friendly nudge or two from van Gisbergen. Zilisch won his first NASCAR series race at Sonoma and led the most laps (four times for 46 laps).

It’s awesome to continue the relationship with Roto-Rooter into the Cup Series,” said NASCAR Cup Series Rookie, Zilisch. “I’ve met a lot of great people with the company over the last two years. The win at Sonoma was really cool, and I remember how excited everyone from Roto-Rooter was in victory lane after the race. I can’t wait to grow that relationship this season.”

Roto-Rooter will make its on-track Cup Series debut with Trackhouse Racing and Zilisch in April at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway as part of a unique doubleheader. In addition to Roto-Rooter’s Cup debut on April 12, the company will also serve as primary sponsor for Zilisch in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race on April 11 with JRM at the .533-mile concrete oval.
