Big One on the Boulevard returns to Talladega Superspeedway  for the spring Jack Link’s 500 race weekend. Fans will have the opportunity to enjoy a driver parade followed by on-stage games with guests of honor.

 

“The Big One on the Boulevard kicks off the weekend with an infield party that brings fans closer to their favorite drivers and the excitement that makes Talladega so special,” said Josh Harris, Region President, Talladega Superspeedway and Darlington Raceway. “The energy of the parade and interactive games on stage creates an interactive experience for our fans and drivers that you can only have here.”

 

Big One on the Boulevard will kick off on Friday, April 24th at 7:30 p.m. CT with the parade down Talladega Boulevard. The parade will include driver parade vehicles carrying famed NASCAR Cup Series, O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and ARCA Menards Series drivers.

 

Immediately following the parade, fans are encouraged to head to the stage behind Infield 5 Points Bar, where the NASCAR Wide Open Trax DJ team and NASCAR TV Host Daryl Motte will be ready to provide an exciting and interactive game show. Several drivers will be introduced as guests of honor including Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Connor Zilisch, Noah Gragson, Cleetus McFarland and more.

The drivers will select a fan from the crowd to join them on-stage in games with the chance to win prizes. Fan and driver teams will be competing for the grand prize of garage and pit passes, allowing for even closer access to the action at Talladega Superspeedway. To conclude the evening, Tailgate Revival will perform an hour-long live show.

 

The spring race weekend action at Talladega Superspeedway kicks off on Saturday, April 25, with a doubleheader. The ARCA Menards Series will hit the track in the Alabama Manufactured Housing 200 at 12:30 p.m. ET followed by the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Ag-Pro 300 at 4:00 p.m. ET. On Sunday, April 26, the NASCAR Cup Series stars will duke it out during the Jack Link’s 500 to close out the weekend at 3:00 p.m. ET.

#NASCAR to Announce New Championship Format

Ricky Stenhouse Confirms on Fox and Friends

 

NASCAR confirmed on Thursday afternoon that they have scheduled a press conference "to announce the championship format for the 2026 season and beyond", bringing an end to the modern format after 12 years.

 

That announcement is scheduled to take place on Monday, January 12 at 3:30 p.m. ET at NASCAR Productions Facility in Concord, North Carolina, and it is set to end months of speculation regarding what the new format might look like.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr., NASCAR Cup Series driver for Hyak Motorsports, went on Fox & Friends this morning to talk about the 2026 NASCAR points format. He described it as “points oriented” as well as “something we used to use and was well appreciated”.

 

The announcement comes ahead of the 2026 racing season, which is set to begin with the exhibition Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium on Sunday, Feb. 1 (8 p.m. ET, FOX, HBO Max, MRN Radio, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).

 

The NASCAR Cup Series campaign begins in earnest with the 68th running of the “Great American Race,” the Daytona 500 on Sunday, Feb. 15 (2:30 p.m. ET, FOX, HBO Max, MRN Radio, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).

The NASCAR Cup Series, Xfinity Series and Craftsman Truck Series continue the playoff action this weekend in Alabama, each continuing their respective Round of 8s at Talladega Superspeedway.

 

Below is a list of Cup driver to keep your eye on:

 

Tyler Reddick: The No. 45 23XI Racing driver won the 2024 spring Talladega race and has three top 10s in 11 Talladega Cup starts. 

He’s also finished top six in four of the last nine races on superspeedways.

 

Of course, the health of his baby son, Rookie has to be a negative distraction.

Austin Cindric: While no longer in the Cup playoffs, Cindric is arguably NASCAR’s current best superspeedway driver. 

He’s the most recent Talladega winner, and six of his 12 top-five finishes at the Cup level have come on superspeedways. 

Look for him to also connect with his playoff teammates toward the front of the field.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. : All four of Stenhouse’s Cup Series victories have come on superspeedways.

Further, he is the defending winner of the Talladega playoff race. 

He enters Sunday’s race with five finishes of sixth or better in the last 10 superspeedway events.

Alex Bowman: The No. 48 Hendrick driver has yet to win on a superspeedway, and his finishes can tend to flip-flop at these types of tracks. 

However, Bowman has two finishes of seventh or better in the last three Talladega races, and he’s posted seven top 10s in the last 13 superspeedway races.

Justin Haley: Both of Haley’s Talladega top 10s have come in the last four races at the track, and he has four top-15 results in the last 14 races. 

One can’t forget that Haley was dominant at superspeedways in the Xfinity Series with Kaulig Racing and owns two Talladega victories (both in 2020).

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Plays Spoiler, Wins Chaotic Playoff Race

 

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. held off the field in overtime to claim the victory in a dramatic NASCAR Cup Series YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway — edging Brad Keselowski and William Byron by a mere 0.006-second in a thrilling three-wide finish.

 

That heart-stopping finish was indicative of the afternoon of competition at the 2.66-mile behemoth — which once again lived up to its reputation and provided a thrilling playoff race with significant implications for the 12 championship contenders.

 

A massive 23-car accident with five laps remaining brought out a red flag and stopped the race for nearly 10 minutes. The incident affected eight of the 12 playoff cars in varying degrees. There is only one more race remaining in this round to settle which eight drivers advance to the next round of championship competition.

 

“Felt really good, we had our Chevy teammates behind us and I was hoping Kyle [Busch] wouldn’t push the six [Keselowski] that hard, I knew the 24 was going to try to get to the line,” said Stenhouse, who scored his first career NASCAR Cup Series win at Talladega in 2017.

 

“Man, this team has put a lot of hard work in and obviously we haven’t won since the Daytona 500 in ’23. It’s been an up-and-down season, a lot of hard work this season trying to find a little bit of speed, but we knew this track is one of ours to come get it.”

Sammy Smith Wins to Advance to Next Round

 

After entering Saturday’s race at Talladega Superspeedway below the elimination line, Sammy Smith punched his ticket to the next round of the NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs by winning the United Rentals 250 in overtime.

 

The driver of the No. 8 JR Motorsports Chevrolet held off a hard charge from runner-up Ryan Sieg in the tri-oval coming to the checkered flag. Riley Herbst, Sheldon Creed and Chandler Smith rounded out the top five.

 

Smith, who now has two career wins, snapped a 56-race losing streak after picking team owner Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s brain about racing at Talladega. Earnhardt won six Cup Series races at the Alabama superspeedway.

 

“We sat down with him Wednesday, wasn’t a whole lot, just kind of some of the stuff he’d do in those situations,” Smith said. “But, man, it feels very good to win here.”

Grant Enfinger Wins Truck Series Playoff Race at Talladega

 

The home crowd favorite, Grant Enfinger claimed the victory in Friday afternoon’s Love’s RV Stop 225 Playoff race at Talladega Superspeedway – the Alabama native’s second NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series win at the big track and the most important, as the victory delivers an automatic entry into the season championship finale next month at Phoenix Raceway.

 

Enfinger’s No. 9 CR7 Motorsports Chevrolet led a race-best 34 of the 85 laps, won Stage 2 and held the point on the final lap when a caution came out ending the race.

 

“We knew stuff was going to get dicey,” the 39-year-old Enfinger said of having to hold the field off following a restart with nine laps remaining to claim his first victory of the season – first ever for the team – and 11th of Enfinger’s career.

 

“We didn’t make all the perfect decisions today, but we had a Champion Power Equipment Chevy that was fast enough to get it done today, so even though we chose the outside [lane for a restart] once or twice and maybe we shouldn’t have. … it’s just Talladega right there and hopefully all the fans enjoyed it.

 

“There’s nothing like winning at your home track. Got my family here and first win with my daughter and my son here. On top of that, we get to race for a championship in Phoenix.”

William Sawalich Wins Season Finale at Toledo Speedway While Andres Perez Clinches Title

 

While Andres Perez was able to celebrate his victory as ARCA Series champion by merely starting the event; the race itself, though, belonged to William Sawalich. 

 

The Joe Gibbs Racing driver who secured his second consecutive ARCA Menards Series East championship last month, Sawalich won his ninth ARCA Menards Series (national) race of the season when he led all but a few laps on the northwestern Ohio half-mile. The 18-year-old’s nine victories in 2024 are a series-high, a number he accomplished in 14 starts.

 

“I definitely got a good jump,” Sawalich said of the last restart. “I can’t thank my guys enough. Just a good day overall, a good end of the year for us.”

 

Perez finished the race in sixth place.

Trevor Huddleston Goes Wire-to-Wire at All American Speedway

 

Trevor Huddleston dominated Saturday’s NAPA Auto Parts 150 presented by Berco Redwood at All American Speedway for the ARCA Menards Series West, leading all 150-laps from the pole for his second consecutive series win.

 

Huddleston topped General Tire Pole Qualifying and left zero doubt during a non-stop contest, clicked off in under 37 minutes on the one-third mile speedway. Huddleston’s lead fluctuated between two and three seconds over Eric Nascimento, Jr. throughout the contest.

 

“Epic man. Epic,” Huddleston said. “It’s a crazy couple of days. Got engaged (last weekend in victory lane) and got these wins. I live a blessed life.”

 

Huddleston accepted the checkered flag with a 1.482-second lead followed by Eric Nascimento, Jr., Reif, Hingorani, and Wood.

Chevrolet Off to a Fast Start Winning First Four Races of 2023

1995, 2001 and now 2023

 

The first four races of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season has only seen one manufacturer in Victory Lane – Chevrolet.

 

In the Modern Era (1972-2023), a manufacturer has only swept a season’s first three races five times and Chevrolet drivers are responsible for four of them – Chevrolet (1995, 2001, 2010, 2023) and Ford (1992).

 

This season, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. won the Daytona 500, Kyle Busch won at Auto Club Speedway and William Byron won at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and last week at Phoenix Raceway.

 

A manufacturer has only swept the first four races of a NASCAR Cup Series season in the Modern Era four times – Chevrolet (1995, 2001, 2023) and Ford (1992).

 

The record for the most consecutive wins by a manufacturer to start at NASCAR Cup Series season in the Modern Era is nine straight victories by Ford in the 1992 season. The most consecutive victories to start a Cup Series season by Chevrolet was seven straight wins in the 1995 season – second-most in the Modern Era.

Stenhouse Jr. Enjoys “Drive Time” in Austin

 

NASCAR Cup Series driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr. tees off from turn one at Circuit
of The Americas (COTA) Tuesday as part of "Drive Time," a cross-promotional
event between NASCAR at COTA and the PGA TOUR's Dell Technologies
Match Play, both being hosted in Austin, Texas this weekend.

NASCAR Cup Series driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr. sure felt a lot more comfortable Tuesday driving the Circuit of The Americas (COTA) layout rather than from the PGA TOUR championship tees of Austin Country Club.

 

Stenhouse Jr., an avid, low-handicap golfer, had the opportunity to enjoy both as he delved into the PGA TOUR world and then shared a slice of his racing livelihood with golfers Marc Leishman, Abraham Ancer and Talor Gooch. He started his day playing six holes with Leishman during a practice round for the Dell Technologies Match Play that begins Wednesday at Austin CC.

Stenhouse Jr. then had Leishman, Ancer and Gooch over to COTA, site of this weekend’s EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix NASCAR tripleheader, to hit shots from atop the iconic turn one, and the JTG Daugherty Racing driver culminated the day with hot laps for the TOUR pros on the challenging 3.41-mile, 20-turn layout.

 

Battling 20 mile-per-hour headwinds and a 133-foot drop from turn one to the frontstretch, the foursome launched drives from a tee box platform toward the asphalt fairway situated between luxury suites, attempted to hit a Texas-shaped green from 185 yards out and added a few long-distance putts down turn one to the green for good measure.

 

“This was a perfect day for me to come out and help promote our great event here at Circuit of The Americas,” Stenhouse Jr. said. “Obviously, we’ve got a ton of good racing coming here all weekend, but I also got to go over to Austin Country Club and play some golf at the Dell Technologies Match Play event and just kind of see what they’re going to be up against this weekend.

 

“The wind was a difficult challenge, but playing some holes with Leishman, giving me some pointers, so hopefully I can take that back to my golf group and have some good runs. But I really enjoyed getting them out here in the Camaro and running around this course that has a little bit of everything. It’s really fast in the front section, tight and technical in the back and we just had some fun today.”

 

Gooch actually attended the F1 race this past October at COTA and was quite familiar – and pleasantly surprised – of where the tee box platform would be situated.

 

“My first time here was last fall for that one race and so it’s kind of funny how we were staying at our seats that were in turn one,” said Gooch, who is ranked 32nd in the world with his first career win coming in November at The RSM Classic. “And so, whenever I saw that’s where we were going to be teeing off from, it was just like, this is crazy. Like, you couldn’t have made this up. So, this was kind of a dream come true kind of thing.”

 

Added Ancer: “That was a really cool experience. I’ve seen this track on TV so many times, and this is the first time that I’m here. And just seeing that (turn one) corner and how steep that is in person; it’s really cool. And trying to hit a driver into this wind was pretty dang tough as well, but it was awesome.”

 

The highlight of the day for the PGA TOUR players was a couple of hot laps each with Stenhouse Jr. around the road course and also getting an appreciation for the skill of him and his fellow drivers.

 

“I asked him this morning, I’m like a bloke only to scare him into trying to scare me. And he did,” said Leishman, who has six career PGA TOUR victories including his most recent coming last April at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. “It was good going through the first probably eight turns, sliding through them. And he can drive. I mean, it’s really cool to be with someone whose so good at what they do and just to see that first hand. It was amazing.”

 

Added Gooch: “It was awesome. So, it’s always fun to get to meet someone that’s a pro in their sport. And we both have respect and admiration for each other with what we both do.”

 

Ancer enjoyed the wildest ride as Stenhouse Jr. culminated his hot laps with doughnuts on the frontstretch.

 

“He’s a monster, man,” said Ancer, who is ranked 20th in the world and the first Mexican golfer to ever move into the top 100 of the Official World Golf Ranking. “That was a lot of fun. I love cars and just how good and precise they are and how fast; I mean it’s pretty mind blowing. It is a lot of fun.”

 

While the TOUR players prepare for their upcoming competition, Stenhouse Jr. will be doing the same. The Cup Series hits the track Saturday for a one-hour practice (9-10 a.m. CT) followed by Cup qualifying at 10 a.m. Sunday’s EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix will take the green flag at 2:30 p.m. (TV: FOX).

 

“I think, you know, COTA this weekend is going to be perfect weather for us,” Stenhouse Jr. said. “I felt like we had a lot of obstacles to overcome last year. But this is a course that all of us drivers are looking forward to coming back to. We’ve got a brand-new race car that I feel like it’s made for this type of racetrack, and I think we’re going to put on a really good show, got really good concerts before and after the races. So, I hope everybody comes out and enjoys a great weekend.”

Larson, Stenhouse Jr. Doling Out $10,000 In ‘Kids Dash For Cash’ Event

Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series stars Kyle Larson and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. are utilizing a “throwback” idea from their racing roots to help enhance the future of their sport.

And the racing pals are ponying up $5,000 each of their own money to make it happen.

In a concerted effort to attract new young fans to NASCAR, Larson and Stenhouse Jr. will host a $10,000 “Kids Dash for Cash” event prior to the start of the AAA Texas 500 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Playoff race on Sunday, Nov. 4, at Texas Motor Speedway.

The children’s event will take place at approximately 1 p.m. CT near the infield grass toward Turn 4 prior to the driver introductions. The “Kids Dash for Cash” will be televised live on Big Hoss TV for the entertainment of the crowd.

This idea was actually born from where it all started for both of them – the local dirt tracks that have embraced this kids’ concept for years.

The event coincides with the ongoing kids’ initiative by Speedway Motorsports, Inc., the parent company of Texas Motor Speedway, of offering a 12-and-under children’s ticket to a Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race in any seating price range for just $10.

“I’m really excited to partner with Kyle and Texas Motor Speedway to present the ‘Kids Dash for Cash,’” said Stenhouse Jr., who drives for Roush-Fenway Racing. “I saw this take place at Calistoga Speedway last year while we were out there for the Sonoma NASCAR race. Just to watch 100 excited kids go crazy picking up as many coins as possible was fun to watch. That night, they had $1,000 worth of nickels for 100 kids, so you can imagine the excitement these kids had.”

Any child 12 and under with a AAA Texas 500 ticket can sign up for the “Kids Dash for Cash” that will distribute $10,000 in coins to 600 children across three age groups. There will be 100 entrants for children 3-4 years old, 200 for 5-7 and 300 for 8-12. “This is pretty cool to team up with my good friend Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Texas Motor Speedway to put on this event,” said Larson, who drives for Chip Ganassi Racing. “I think it’s important to connect with the younger fans. We want to spread the word to other tracks and encourage them to continue to get kids out to the races. Getting kids to the race track will only help the sport in the future. We thought Texas would be a great place to start since Texas does everything BIG.”

The money will be spread out in a defined area with the children dashing around and collecting all the coins until they are all accounted for in that age group. To make it more interesting, Larson and Stenhouse Jr. will have large Sunoco fuel cans filled with 50-cent pieces and silver dollars from which they will sprinkle around the smaller coin denominations for each age group.

After Leading 51 Laps, Stenhouse Jr. Salvages a 17th-Place Finish

After a dominating performance picking up two stage wins in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Daytona Event, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was forced to settle with a 17th-place finish after leading 51 laps in Saturday night’s Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway.

“We definitely brought what I feel like was the best car in the field,” Stenhouse said. “Winning two stages was nice but obviously we wanted to win at the end because that would get us into the playoffs. I was frustrated with myself causing crashes like that. It was definitely a bummer of a night.”

Well... not exactly how i thought it would go. My team had an unbelievable car. I Made too many mistakes that took out too many racecars. Hate the fans had to see their drivers get caught up in it. On the other hand my team fought hard and gave it all we got.

Reed Collected Three Laps Shy of the Checkered Flag at Daytona

Ryan Reed, a two-time Daytona Champion, put forth a valiant effort Friday evening. Reed started in the back of the field and worked his way forward through the pack multiple times throughout the 100-lap event before being collected three laps shy of the checkered flag. The damage was too severe to finish and Reed was credited with a 26th-place finish in his No. 16 Drive Down A1C Lilly Diabetes Ford Fusion.

“They were wrecking going through the tri-oval up top and I got hooked in the left-rear,” said Reed. “I don’t know if I came down some on the No. 11 or not, it was just chaos. It’s just Daytona. You’re just scrapping and hoping for the best there. We’ve been on the right side of it a few times and tonight we weren’t. We knew we were fast. It was a typical deal and we got a shot, but we didn’t quite get to the end of that thing.

“We could get to the front. Once you get into the top 10 it’s hard to move around, but we could fly up to the top 10 every time, so that was never a worry of mine. It’s disappointing. We went through the grass and that ripped the nose off, so we were done after that. It’s just one of those deals.”

Cindric’s Strong Run Cut Short at Daytona

Austin Cindric’s strong, top-five run was cut short Friday night at Daytona International Speedway after his Odyssey Battery No. 60 Ford Mustang was caught up in a late-race caution ending the night early.

“I’m fine, it’s just unfortunate,” Cindric said after a scary crash. “We had such a strong run and it came to an end early. There are plenty of things I can complain about, but I have to be thankful that Roush and NASCAR and everybody else who puts safety first really comes to fruition in situations like that.

“It’s definitely the biggest wreck I’ve ever had. It’s unfortunate I keep having those at Daytona. I’ve got to quit going to this infield care center here. I know all the people and all the faces. They’re very nice, but it’s just a shame. We were giving Odyssey Batteries and the Ford guys and Roush guys a great run and it’s too bad to see us come up short.”

Stenhouse Jr. a Rising Star at Restrictor Plate Tracks

As the series heads to Daytona this weekend for the Coke Zero Sugar 400 on Saturday night (7 p.m. ET on NBC, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio), could Stenhouse Jr. be a repeat winner? He won this race last year. He will start today’s race in sixth place, so the speed is there.

After coming off his career best season, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. is again piloting the Fastenal Ford Fusion for Roush Fenway Racing during the 2018 Monster Energy #NASCAR Cup Series (#MENCS) season. This year is his sixth season behind the wheel of the #17.

The 2017 MENCS season saw a lot of firsts for Stenhouse Jr. In May, he earned his first MENCS victory after starting from the pole position and taking the lead on the final lap at Talladega Superspeedway to clinch a spot in the playoffs.

He followed up his Talladega win in July when he scored his second victory of the season at Daytona International Speedway. In thirty-six (36) starts, Stenhouse accumulated two wins, four top-five and nine top=tens, ending the season in 13th-place overall in the standings.

Ricky currently sits sixteenth in the point standing; and just outside a playoff slot in seventeenth. A win this weekend would guarantee him a spot in the big show for the championship.

On the positive side, some of Ricky Stenhouse Jr.’s best racing performances have come out of the two restrictor plate tracks - Daytona International Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway – during the four total visits the Monster Energy Series makes to the tracks each season. His two career series wins and six of his 13 career top-five finishes have been at these two circuits.

Stenhouse Jr. Concentrating on His Racing Not Patrick

Ricky Working on Minimizing Pit Road Mistakes

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. experienced his breakout season in 2017. Of course, the racer expects to continue that momentum as he enters his sixth full season driving for car owner Jack Roush in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.

In case you do not recall, the driver of the No. 17 Roush Fenway Fusion captured the first win of his #MENCS career when he passed Kyle Busch on the final lap at Talladega Superspeedway in May. Ricky backed that win up with his second restrictor-plate victory two months later at Daytona when he took the checkered flag in the annual Coke Zero 400.

Those two wins propelled Stenhouse Jr. into the NASCAR Playoffs for the first time in his career. He advanced to the Round of 12 before being eliminated.

Unfortunately, last season concluded with the breakup of his personal relationship with fellow driver, Danica Patrick. Patrick and Stenhouse had been a couple since 2013, their first season as full-time drivers in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. Their very public relationship made them an anomaly in motorsports – on-track competitors and off-track life partners. 

During their courtship, their shared mentality on track was rooted in mutual respect. Now that they are no longer an “item,” Stenhouse confirmed that he will not race her any differently.

The two will meet on the track at least one more time before Patrick retires in what's now being called the "Danica Double" - NASCAR's Daytona 500 in February and IndyCar Series' Indy 500 in May.

"I don't think I'll race any different," Stenhouse said Tuesday at the NASCAR Media Tour. "I try to respect everybody around me, especially at those speedway races. You don't really want to put anybody in a bad spot because you put the whole field in a bad spot.

"But I think I'll go out and race just like I'm racing everybody else, and see how it plays out. Heck, when we first started racing together (in the XFINITY Series in 2010), we got in crashes anyway, so it is what it is. But I'll just go out and compete as hard as I can. I plan on putting myself in a position to win the race."

Although Ricky Stenhouse Jr. appears confident following his success on track last season; he knows that he must concentrate on improving for this season in order to compete for a Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Championship.

“I’d like to start out the year at Daytona winning,” Stenhouse said. “If not, I really want to win at Bristol this year. I feel like we had a really fast car in the second race last year, but I sped on pit road. I’m going to have to minimize my mistakes on pit road, I feel like. We sped way too often last year, and it cost us some valuable time and spots.

“For us, as a team, we have to get better at the mile-and-a-half race tracks and then we have to earn more stage points. And that all comes with faster race cars and getting your program better at those race tracks. I felt like there were so many opportunities last year that we missed out on getting stage points—finishing 11th, finishing 12th. So if we can make some adjusts to finish in the top 10 in some of those stages, I think it would be beneficial for us as well.”

Stenhouse earned MENCS Sunoco Rookie of the Year honors in 2013. 

He also has eight career wins in the Xfinity Series, where he won Sunoco Rookie of the Year in 2010 followed by back-to-back championships in 2011 and 2012.
