Happy Mother’s Day #NASCAR Style

Happy Mother’s Day #NASCAR Style NASCAR Race Mom and her racing son (Moses) before twitter!!! Yup I videotaped all his races; helped him with sponsorship (although I was awful at sewing on those patches!) and even learned how to code (html) so I could put up his first website.  Racing is definitely a Family Sport. My goodness, I almost forgot the days of scoring his laps by hand under the direction of #NASCAR.

Make Mother’s Day #NASCAR Fast

Faster and more fun than a bouquet of Flowers

Make Mother’s Day #NASCAR Fast - L.A. Racing

With Mother's Day just around the corner, L.A. Racing would like to celebrate Moms, their friends and family by offering a chance to experience stock car driving up close and (very) personally!

Make Mother’s Day #NASCAR Fast - L.A. RacingAfter an informative "ground school" guests each get the experience of climbing in to the race car through the window, belting in with a 5-point competition safety harness and firing up an authentic 450-horsepower Stock Car for their high-speed driving adventure.

As your session begins your spotter will guide you onto the big oval via your in-helmet radio with last minute instructions. As the track lights go green and the green flag waves you're off and running for 20 blistering laps on Irwindale Speedway's nationally famous progressively-banked NASCAR half-mile oval.

Make Mother’s Day #NASCAR Fast - L.A. RacingJust like the pros, you'll be wearing a 2 layer nomex race suit, helmet with head sock and racing gloves ... You'll experience bursts of speed down the straightaways and rolling through the banked corners feeling the g-force pushing you back into your race seat. And then, your spotter's voice comes through your in-helmet radio guiding and coaching you through your session including when, where, and how to pass other cars on track as you speed along.

You'll be pushed back into your seat as you blast through your 20-lap session around the "LA's Half-Mile Super Speedway", barely able hold back a huge grin as you feel your driving skill level increase lap after lap.

Now for the best part of all: you and a friend (who might or might not be your MOM) can share this all-time exciting experience for the amazing price of $150.00 for both of you or $3.75 per lap! The price is normally $798 for 2 race passes. ... Got a foursome or big group? Hey, bring them all! We put 4 cars on track at one time and class capacity is 24 drivers. Buy 4 or more passes and get free tickets for one of our upcoming Saturday night professional NASCAR races. The price for a single pass is $99.00. We'll see YOU (and Mom?) at the Speedway!

Call L.A. Racing at: (877) LA-RACING or (626) 358-7432
during business hours and use the code word: "MOM"

NASCAR Honors Moms with Launch of First Mother’s Day Campaign

Fans Encouraged to Share Photos of the NASCAR Experiences They Had With Mom For a Chance to Win Once-In-A-Lifetime NASCAR-Themed Prizes

Family has always been a pillar of NASCAR®, as the sport was built by the contributions of iconic family names such as France, Petty, Earnhardt and Jarrett. From nurturing young drivers in their aspirations for a career in motorsports, to bringing families together at the track, to celebrating in Victory Lane, moms have served as the bedrock of NASCAR.

To further celebrate this tradition and spirit, NASCAR today launched “NASCAR with Mom,” a Mother’s Day initiative aimed at sharing and celebrating memorable NASCAR moments with Mom.

Leading up to Mother’s Day Weekend – through the #NASCARwithMOM sweepstakes supported by NASCAR’s Official Partners 3M, Ford and Goodyear – fans are encouraged to share their most memorable NASCAR Mom photos on social media using the hashtag #NASCARwithMOM or by visiting www.NASCAR.com/NASCARwithMOM for the opportunity to win a once-in-a-lifetime NASCAR experience.

The Grand Prize package includes a ride in the Goodyear Blimp and an all-inclusive VIP experience for two during the 2015 Ford Championship Weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway, including tickets with VIP access. Additionally, five first place prize winners will receive a NASCAR Racing Experience Qualifier for two. Fans can enter to win starting today through May 9 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

“Mothers have made an indelible impact on our sport since the moment it was founded in 1947 – from the legacies of Anne B. France and Lynda Petty to the modern-day accomplishments of others like Teresa and Kelley Earnhardt,” said Kim Brink, NASCAR senior vice president, marketing. “NASCAR with Mom honors the moments and memories fans and families in NASCAR have had with their mothers, and recognizes the critical role moms will play in the future of our sport.”

NASCAR & Mother's Day!

Moses Smith #16 Hasa Pool Products
Mother's Day is older than NASCAR. The modern Mother's Day holiday was created by Anna Jarvis as a day for each family to honor their mothers in 1912. You only need to walk down the pits of any NASCAR racetrack to understand just how important Moms are to the racers.

When Moses' started his 'career' as a racer, he was just twelve. I was a tad less than enthusiastic. Moms are different than Dads. We worry about the "what ifs." Of course the worst one is "what if" he/she is injured. Nevertheless, it was not long before NASCAR Race Mom joined the ranks of the track moms who spent the majority of their weekends in the pits helping out the team as much as possible. Moms fill in as media/press release consultants; score keepers; logistics manager ect . . . .

For over a decade, Jeff Gordon has driven his beloved No. 24 Chevrolet at the front of the pack at nearly every tack on the NASCAR circuit including this weekend’s Cup event at Darlington Raceway. Some attribute his success to natural skill. Some think it’s because of his work ethic. But, the one person who probably knows Jeff best is convinced her son’s racing tenacity has everything to do with a certain quarter midget race he competed in at the age of six.

“I remember a time when he (Jeff Gordon) was first racing quarter midgets, he got lapped during a race and when the race ended he said that he didn't like to be lapped and never wanted that to happen again. He was six at the time.”

Carol Mears with son CaseyIn an exclusive interview with Gordon’s mother, Carol, she tells more of this story and other tales from his childhood that you might enjoy in light of the upcoming Mother’s Day weekend.

Additional stories are available from other moms of NASCAR stars including Ryan Newman, Brian Vickers, Reed Sorensen and Casey Mears. The interviews are available at Ask.com, the Official Search Engine of NASCAR. Just search NASCAR moms or click here.

After reading all those heart-warming stories, take time to remember your special "mom" Sunday.
