Ryan Blaney Breaks Through to Take Victory in Cracker Barrel 400

 

A season full of near misses and hard-luck finishes for Ryan Blaney disappeared in a magical Music City night.

 

At a sold-out Nashville Superspeedway, with fireworks and cheers washing over him, Blaney was finally able to celebrate a victory.

 

Blaney, driving the No. 12 Ford for Penske Racing, led a race-high 139 laps, earned his first NASCAR Cup Series win of the year and the 14th victory of his career by taking the checkered flag in the Cracker Barrel 400.

 

“We've had great speed all year -- just hasn't been the best year for us as far as good fortune,” said Blaney, the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series champion. “The 12 boys are awesome; they stick with it no matter how it goes, and it was great to finish one out tonight.”

 

Blaney gained top position early by making a two-tire stop, won the second stage after surviving a wave of caution flags and held on through a green-flag pit stop cycle in the third stage to beat Carson Hocevar to the start-finish line by 2.83 seconds.

 

“I never gave up hope,” said Blaney, who won his first Cup Series race since last fall in Martinsville, a span of 15 events.

 

“I thought [two tires] was a good call. We drove up to seventh there in the first stage, and I thought two tires were great. I thought my car was really good, and that really set us up for the rest of the race.

 

“It’s nice that it’s finally happening. It’s time to go celebrate!”

Justin Allgaier Holds on to Win the Tennessee Lottery 250 at Nashville Superspeedway

 

Justin Allgaier, driving the No. 7 Chevrolet for JR Motorsports, swept all the stages on his way to his third NASCAR Xfinity Series win of the year, his second at Nashville Superspeedway, and the 28th victory of his career, good for ninth all-time. Chevrolet has won 12 of the first 14 Xfinity Series races of the season – a Series first.

 

“There’s no cooler feeling than to win at a place like this,” said Allgaier in front of the grandstands with fireworks exploding behind the backstretch. “These fans are incredible. I really wanted to get a second guitar. [My daughters] can fight over one of them or both of them.”

 

“JR Motorsports brought some incredible Chevrolets today,” Allgaier said. “That final restart was the key. Having clean air, and being out front … you have to make the most out of having good days. “This team never gives up. [My pit crew] deserves this more than anything. This [car] was on rails.”

Rajah Caruth Holds Off Rivals Heim and Riggs to Win Rackley Roofing 200

 

In an exhilarating three-way fight for the checkered flag, Rajah Caruth powered to the victory in the Rackley Roofing 200 Craftsman Truck Series race at Nashville Superspeedway Friday night.

 

Caruth, driving the No. 71 Chevrolet for Spire Motorsports, held off Truck Series points leader Corey Heim and Stage 1 winner Layne Riggs on his way to his second NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series win of his career.

 

“I didn’t expect that at all,” said Caruth after hearing roars of approval from the Nashville crowd. “Those guys were breathing down my neck the whole time. My pit crew won the race for us. We’ve been off this year but it’s good to get it done tonight.”

 

Heim held on for second, with Riggs finishing third, Daniel Hemric placing fourth and Corey Day coming in fifth.

ERNEST Named Grand Marshal for Cracker Barrel 400

The Nashville native, hailed as “The Charmer” will give the command to start engines for the ‘Cracker Barrel 400’ #NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday.

 

Nashville Superspeedway announced that chart-topping singer-songwriter ERNEST will serve as the grand marshal for the Cracker Barrel 400 NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday. The Nashville native, hailed as “The Charmer” by MusicRow and a triple-threat talent who “creates a sound all his own” (Pollstar), will give the command to start engines as Amazon Prime Video broadcasts the event to its world-wide audience.

 

“ERNEST embodies the heart and soul of Nashville, making him the ideal grand marshal for the Cracker Barrel 400,” said Matt Greci, general manager of Nashville Superspeedway. “His remarkable talent, deep connection to Music City and ability to captivate audiences will bring an unforgettable energy to our race weekend.”

 

ERNEST, a four-time ACM Award nominee, including a 2024-25 nod for Artist-Songwriter of the Year, and three-time CMA Triple Play Award winner, has cemented his status as one of Music City’s defining artist-writers. With influences spanning Eminem to George Jones, he has penned 13 No. 1 hits, including the Hot 100 record-breaking “I Had Some Help” by Post Malone featuring Morgan Wallen, earning a 2025 GRAMMY nomination.

#NASCAR Triple Header

 

This weekend marks the fifth running of a NASCAR Cup Series race at Nashville Superspeedway (2021-2025).

 

At 1.33 miles, Nashville is the longest concrete oval on the NASCAR schedule.

 

Four different drivers have won at Nashville Superspeedway in the NASCAR Cup Series – Kyle Larson (2021), Chase Elliott (2022), Ross Chastain (2023) and Joey Logano (2024).

Nashville Driver Appearance Schedule

In 2025, the sanctioning body is doing something about it with its new Driver Ambassador Program, which provides compensation to drivers for making appearances. There are several million dollars up for grabs.

 

The system is set up so the drivers earn one point for every 15 minutes of their time doing something considered “promotion.” This includes media interviews or track appearances outside of the mandatory sessions on race weekends.

Ryan Blaney earned points when he visited Austin, TX with his new wife, Gianna, to promote the upcoming race at Circuit of the Americas. During an interview with Athlon Sports, the Team Penske driver offered his perspective of the program and why it makes dollars and sense.

 

”Yeah, essentially what that deal is — I guess for example as before, ‘Hey, can you do this favor for us and go promote this race and things like that,” Blaney said. “Or, go do these radio shows and that. And sometimes it wouldn't work into our schedule. Or, maybe you're like, ‘No, I don't really want to do that.”

 

“The best way I could put it is if your boss came to you and said, ‘Hey, can you work overtime? We're not going to pay you for overtime though, but go do it out of good faith.’ You'd have kind of some reservations about it”

 

“But if your boss is like, ‘Hey, we're going to give you overtime, go work overtime. Well, yeah, I'll take it, right? So I think that's the best way I've tried to kind of compare the two. But I think it's good.”

 

NASCAR drivers are already some of, if not the most accessible athletes in all of sports! This new program will only increase that accessibility and, like Blaney said, make the sport healthier because of it.

Gibson Guitars are Handed Out as Trophies to Race Winners.

 

Built to bring big-time racing to Music City’s backyard, Nashville Superspeedway has a story that’s as bold as the racing it hosts.

 

Nashville Superspeedway first opened its doors in 2001, with a vision of giving fans a new place to see top-tier motorsports up close. The track itself is unique with a 1.33-mile D-shaped oval made of concrete, not asphalt, which gives races here a different kind of grit. Drivers quickly learned that Nashville wasn’t a place you could take lightly. The track is fast, tough and demands every ounce of focus from start to finish.

 

In its early years, Nashville Superspeedway hosted NASCAR Xfinity and Truck Series races and built a loyal fan base. One of the track’s most iconic traditions also got its start during this time -- handing out Gibson guitars as trophies to race winners. Instead of a typical cup or plaque, drivers who conquered Nashville took home a custom-painted guitar, tying the city’s deep music roots right into the heart of race day celebrations.

 

After 2011, the track went quiet for a bit. But the passion for racing in Nashville never faded. Fans wanted it back, and they got it. In 2021, after a decade away, NASCAR racing returned to Nashville Superspeedway with a bang. The Ally 400 Cup Series made its debut, and it was clear the magic was still there. Crowds packed the stands, the racing was intense and the music-fueled atmosphere felt like it had never left.

 

Since then, Nashville Superspeedway has only gotten bigger and better. The race weekend isn’t just about what happens on the track; it’s about live music, fan experiences, tailgating and soaking up a city that knows how to throw a party.

 

From its concrete surface to its rock-and-roll spirit, Nashville Superspeedway has carved out a spot that feels different from anywhere else on the NASCAR circuit. It’s tough. It’s loud. It’s full of heart. And it’s just getting started.

As the engines warm up and the anticipation builds for race weekend at Nashville Superspeedway, all eyes are on the drivers poised to make some serious noise. Nashville’s concrete beast isn’t easy to tame, and only the best rise to the challenge. Here’s a look at some of the top contenders heading into the weekend.

 

Joey Logano

A former Cup Series champion, Joey Logano brings a mix of grit, strategy, and confidence to every track he visits. Known for his aggressive style and sharp race instincts, he’s especially dangerous late in a race when the pressure is on. He’s no stranger to chaotic restarts or bold moves when it matters most. At a track like Nashville, where tire wear and late cautions shake things up, he’s exactly the kind of driver who can capitalize. Don’t be surprised if the No. 22 finds his way to the front when it counts.

Kyle Larson

When it comes to versatility and raw talent, Kyle Larson is always in the conversation. He’s proven time and again he can run up front on just about any track, including Nashville. With Hendrick Motorsports behind him and momentum on his side, Larson’s a threat to win every time he straps in.

Denny Hamlin

Denny knows how to run smart, manage tire wear, and position himself when it counts. If the race turns tactical (and it often does at Nashville), Hamlin could be right there when it matters most.

Ross Chastain

Aggressive? Sure. Entertaining? Always. Ross Chastain doesn’t back down, and his fearless driving style helped him claim victory here in 2023. Don’t be surprised if he’s mixing it up near the front again this year, especially if the race turns wild.

William Byron

Bell’s dirt track background gives him a smooth, steady style that works well on rougher surfaces. He’s been quietly consistent and always seems to be lurking when it counts. Don’t sleep on the No. 20 car.

And of course, don’t forget the underdogs and up-and-comers. A long race, late cautions, or strategy shakeups can put unexpected names at the front. Keep an eye on guys like Tyler Reddick (26th), Alex Bowman (29th), or even a rookie looking to make their mark.

Ross Chastain Streaks to Victory

Ross and Kyle Larson are the only two drivers to finish in the top-five of all three of Nashville Superspeedway’s NASCAR Cup Series races.

 

After more than a year without a Cup Series victory – and a couple months of sideways glances and tough conversations following incidents with several competitors – Ross Chastain admits he heard whispers about his on-track performance.

 

After making Nashville Superspeedway’s 1.33-mile concrete D-shaped oval his personal watermelon crawl, Chastain looked back on those recent struggles with a big, juicy grin and a couple celebratory yells with a sold-out Middle Tennessee crowd with a victory in the Ally 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Nashville Superspeedway.

 

Driving the No. 1 Chevrolet for Nashville-based Trackhouse Racing, Chastain collected his first Cup Series victory of the season, the third Cup win of his career and locked down a Cup Series playoff berth.

 

“It’s absolutely incredible the fight that we have,” Chastain said after smashing a watermelon on the start-finish line. “This is why every little kid out there, anyone in the world, when you get criticized, and you’re going to if you’re a competitor, they will try to tear you down and you’ll start believing it and you can’t do that.

 

“[You] just keep getting up and trust the process.”

 

The 30-year-old Florida native completed a weekend sweep after earning the Ally 400 pole position. Chastain led 99 laps overall, including the last 34, all of which came with Martin Truex Jr. bearing down on his rear bumper less than one second behind.

 

“[This team] brings rocket ships to the track and I just try to get them to Victory Lane,” Chastian said.

 

“The last couple of weeks have been tough,” added Trackhouse Racing owner Justin Marks. “We have some incredible people on this team. Ross showed today he’s in rare air in this Series.”

 

Truex, the Cup Series points leader, was .789 of a second behind Chastain, with Denny Hamlin placing third, 2022 Ally 400 champion Chase Elliott finishing fourth and 2021 Ally 400 winner Kyle Larson taking fifth.

 

Chastain and Larson are the only two drivers to finish in the top-five of all three of Nashville Superspeedway’s NASCAR Cup Series races.

 

“Just needed to get the lead,” Truex said. “Once we lost it, just too loose on the long runs. Had a lot of speed … overall a good night.”

 

Tyler Reddick (33 laps led) took Stage 1, but dropped out of contention when he spun entering pit road and lost a tire on Lap 138. Reddick finished 30th, two laps down, while Hamlin (81 laps led) won Stage 2.

Among other notable finishes, Kyle Busch fought back from a flat tire that put him two laps down as well as another pit road penalty to lead 12 laps and finish ninth, Chastain’s Trackhouse teammate Daniel Suarez placed 12th and defending NASCAR Cup Series champion Joey Logano finished 19th.

 

 

At the end they were all chasing Chastain, who shared some of his broken watermelon with members of the crowd after he collected the checkered flag.

 

“It’s just so hard at this level,” said Chastain before collecting his first Nashville Superspeedway signature Gibson guitar trophy. “I don’t care about what happened last month or the rest of my life – this is a freaking Cup win baby.”

 

Chastain completed the 300-lap/400-mile event in 3 hours and 7 seconds, averaging 132.914 mph, the quickest of Nashville’s three Cup Series races.

 

Twenty-one drivers finished on the lead lap while 12 leaders exchanged the top spot 21 times. Four caution periods took up 24 laps.

Social Media has renamed the “Tennessee Lottery 250” to “The Caution 250.” The first and second stages of the 250-mile-long event saw numerous caution-flag periods. Fifteen (15) cars out of thirty-eight (38) were involved in incidents before Stage 2 came to an end. 

 

Also notable, only sixteen (16) drivers finished on the lead lap.

Allmendinger Storms to Victory

A veteran of all forms of racing, A.J. Allmendinger is skilled enough to keep visiting Victory Lane, savvy enough to persist through all types of circumstances and experienced enough to soak in every winning moment.

 

Allmendinger survived several early multi-car wrecks, hung on through two overtime restarts and powered his way to a victory in the Tennessee Lottery 250 NASCAR Xfinity Series race on Saturday at Nashville Superspeedway.

 

Driving the No. 10 Chevrolet for Kaulig Racing, Allmendinger collected his second Xfinity Series victory on the season and the 17th of his career. Allmendinger is starting 19th in the sold-out Ally 400 NASCAR Cup Series race.

 

“I’m kind of old for this,” the 41-year-old NASCAR Cup Series regular joked. “Got to thank all the men and women at Kaulig Racing.”

 

The 41-year-old California native started 11th and made his way through a race that had seven caution flags fly through the first 70 laps, and eight multi-car wrecks. The 11 caution flags tied a Nashville Superspeedway Xfinity Series record.

 

Allmendinger held the lead for the last 20 laps, including the two overtime restarts where he held firm on the bottom of the track as the field spread out three- and even four-wide behind him.

 

“I just needed to get through Turn 1 clean,” Allmendinger said of the final restart. “I love winning on ovals because people doubt me on ovals.”

 

Riley Herbst was 1.323 seconds behind in second, with Sam Mayer placing third, Austin Hill finishing fourth and Josh Berry taking fifth.

“This is one of those iconic trophies you want to win,” said Allmendinger, who led 25 laps overall, before lifting the traditional Nashville Superspeedway Gibson guitar in Victory Lane. “You never know when you’ll be back here again.”

 

Ty Gibbs (28 laps led) took Stage 1 before bowing out in a wreck on the first laps of Stage 2. Chandler Smith (race-high 74 laps led) won Stage 2 before finishing 12th.

 

Allmendinger completed the overtime-aided 196 lap/260 mile event in 2 hours, 40 minutes, 21 seconds, averaging 97.542 mph with 16 cars finishing on the lead lap. Eleven leaders exchanged the lead 17 times.

Carson Hocevar took the lead with 40 laps remaining in Friday night’s NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series Rackley Roofing 200 at Nashville Superspeedway and held off every challenge necessary in the closing laps – including a frantic push from his competitors on a re-start with three laps remaining – to earn his second career victory.
