#NASCAR Icon - Kyle Petty
Charity Ride Across America

Route Announced For 20th Anniversary Motorcycle Trek - This year the Scenic tour kicks off in Carlsbad, California and concludes in Daytona Beach, Florida. Carlsbad is just a few miles away from NASCAR Race Mom’s home!

The Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America announced the course for its 20th Anniversary Ride. From Saturday, May 3 through Saturday, May 10, 2014, more than 175 riders will embark on the crosscountry motorcycle trek, which begins in Carlsbad, California and travel more than 2,800 miles before reaching Daytona Beach, Florida.

Founded by former NASCAR driver and racing analyst Kyle Petty, the Ride raises funds and awareness for Victory Junction, a Camp created to enrich the lives of children with chronic or life threatening illnesses.

“What began as just a few friends having a good time riding track to track has turned into what we have today, which is an incredible event that provides thousands of life changing experiences for children,” said Petty. “This is the first year we’ve traveled straight from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean, and I’m looking forward to experiencing it with friends, while meeting our fans and generous supporters along the way.”

The 2014 Kyle Petty Charity Ride Schedule:
  • Day 1 Saturday, May 3 - Carlsbad, Calif. to Tucson, Ariz.
  • Day 2 Sunday, May 4 - Tucson, Ariz. to Las Cruces, N.M.
  • Day 3 Monday, May 5 - Las Cruces, N.M. to Midland, Texas
  • Day 4 Tuesday, May 6 - Midland, Texas to Austin, Texas
  • Day 5 Wednesday, May 7 - Austin, Texas to Beaumont, Texas
  • Day 6 Thursday, May 8 - Beaumont, Texas to New Orleans
  • Day 7 Friday, May 9 - New Orleans to Tallahassee, Fla.
  • Day 8 Saturday, May 10 - Tallahassee, Fla. to Daytona Beach, Fla.

This year NASCAR Hall of Famer and seven time champion Richard Petty, NASCAR driver Matt Kenseth, former NASCAR driver and Bo-Dyn Olympic bobsled founder Geoff Bodine, NASCAR legends Harry Gant and Donnie Allison, former NFL great Herschel Walker, Fox News contributor and former member of the U.S. House of Representatives Col. Allen West, and co-host of History Channel’s Top Gear America and NASCAR personality Rutledge Wood plan to participate in all or part of the 20th Anniversary Ride.

“It’s amazing to see how one tragedy (Adam Petty’s death) can turn into something so incredible like Victory Junction,” said Kyle Petty’s father Richard. “After five years, it’s great to be back on the Kyle Petty Charity Ride to support Kyle and the Camp – just in time for the 20th Anniversary.”

Terry Cross Winner / Ride to Victory VII Update

Congratulations to Terry Cross (twitter id @tlcfromtn). Terry’s entry was chosen by random.org as the winner of the NASCAR Race Mom “Ride To Victory VII Giveaway.” Thanks to everyone who entered this contest! Terry, enjoy that autographed Shirt & Hat!

Ride to Victory VII Update:

The Ride to Victory VII was a huge success. The group is already busy with BIG plans for next year's event. NASCAR Race Mom is not in possession of the details yet, but ... let me just say it would be worth your while to make the trip to North Carolina in 2010!

Here are some details from this year’s Ride:

  • As a result of the Ride to Victory VII, fifteen (15) campers will attend Victory Junction for a week long summer session, free of charge. (The cost for one camper to attend for a week session is approx $2,500).

  • Approximately 200 motorcycles and 350 people participated in the Ride.

  • While it rained before the event, Ride to Victory VII had clear skies for the actual Ride! NC Highway Patrolmen escorted the group for the entire 111 miles.

  • The Ride to Victory VII stopped at the NASCAR Hall of Fame for a hard hat tour, participated in a “classic charity ride pit stop” at Pilot Travel Center. They arrived at Victory Junction by 2:30 p.m. ET.

  • Fun fact: The bikes were so loud pulling into the NASCAR Hall of Fame parking garage, they set off EVERY car alarm in the building!

  • The Gastonia HOG chapter presented a check for $30,045 to Victory Junction at Camp.

Ride To Victory VII

CONCORD, N.C. (Sept. 29 2009) – NASCAR celebrities, fans, loyal customers, family and friends will partner together to pay tribute to Click Baldwin while raising money for Victory Junction during the 7th Annual Ride to Victory on Saturday, October 10.

As an extension of Kyle Petty Charity Ride, Inc., this year’s Ride to Victory will benefit Victory Junction, a year-round facility serving children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses.

Click Baldwin, long time friend of Kyle Petty, valuable member on the Board of Directors for the KPCR organization and local business owner of Carolina Harley-Davidson in Gastonia passed away following a motorcycle accident in Montana on July 29, 2008. This annual fundraiser honors and pays tribute to Click Baldwin for all the years of dedication and support since its inception.

“Back in 1995, he and I, along with a few other close friends, were just a group of guys that wanted to ride our motorcycles across the country,” Kyle Petty said. “We found out that we could raise some money for charity while doing so and the Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America was born. While it had my name on it, Click was a driving force behind the ride.”

This one-day motorcycle ride gives fans the opportunity to ride across North Carolina with NASCAR celebrities while supporting a great cause. The ride is scheduled for Saturday, October 10th, the week before the NASCAR Banking 500 only from Bank of America at Lowe’s Motor Speedway (ABC 7 p.m. EST).

Rally points this year will include Tilley Harley-Davidson in Statesville, Iron Horse Motorcycles in Monroe, Harley-Davidson of Charlotte and Carolina Harley-Davidson in Gastonia. The full group will depart from Carolina Harley-Davidson at 10:30 a.m., making a stop at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. The group will continue to Kannapolis, N.C. and participate in a “classic” Charity Ride pit stop at Pilot Travel Center before arriving at Victory Junction. Participating fans and motorcycle enthusiasts will receive a commemorative pin, Ride to Victory VII t-shirt and more.

Click participated in the Ride Across America, as well as the Ride to Victory since its inception. “Baldwin’s fluorescent character is sorely missed; however, Click’s friends and supporters know that while he may be absent visibly, his spirit transcends,“ said Kenny Crosswhite, founder of Perception Ministries and a NASCAR chaplain.

Victory Junction is a member of the NASCAR Foundation Family of Charities. For more information or to pre-register, please visit www.kylepettycharityride.com or call 704-714-4545.

Registration will be available at all rally points the day of the event; however, rider spots are limited and pre-registration is recommended.
