Former NASCAR driver and racing analyst Kyle Petty is hitting the open road once again to lead the 28th Anniversary Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America – one of the most popular charity rides in the country. From May 4 – 10, 2024, Petty will lead 150 motorcycles across nine states on a seven-day trek, covering more than 2,100 miles in an effort to raise funds and awareness for Victory Junction – a camp dedicated to providing life-changing camping experiences for children with serious and chronic medical conditions.

Presented by Cox Automotive, the Ride will kick-off in Deadwood, South Dakota, on Saturday, May 4 and will end in Greensboro, North Carolina on Friday, May 10 with a celebratory homecoming at Victory Junction. Cox Automotive is the world’s largest automotive services and technology provider and is a subsidiary of Cox Enterprises. The company’s brands include Autotrader, Kelley Blue Book and Manheim, which will host breakfast for the Ride at Manheim Indianapolis on Wednesday, May 8.

“Our team is beyond excited to host Kyle and the riders at Manheim Indianapolis for breakfast during their 28th Anniversary route,” said Chuck Werner, general manager for the Louisville-Indianapolis Market Center. “It means so much for us to be included in this inspiring event and we look forward to helping the Ride send many deserving kids to Victory Junction.”

Petty has a jam-packed route planned for the 2024 Ride’s 250 participants, including 30 new riders. In fact, Petty has coined this adventure “The AmerICON Ride,” to pay homage to the iconic American attractions featured on this year’s Ride. Some of the highlights include visiting Mount Rushmore National Monument, stopping at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, exploring Churchill Downs – home of the Kentucky Derby, touring the legendary National Corvette Museum, visiting Bristol Motor Speedway, and so much more.

Spectators along the 2024 route are encouraged to attend one of the Ride’s seven overnight stops or daily pit stops to greet Petty and the riders, purchase memorabilia and make donations.

Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America Set for its 26th Anniversary Southwestern Adventure

Kyle Petty Charity Ride, Inc. today announced it will finally complete its 26th Anniversary Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America after being sidelined for more than two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. From April 30 – May 6, 2022, former NASCAR driver and NBC Sports racing analyst Kyle Petty will take 125 motorcycles on a Southwestern adventure, fulfilling one of the most scenic routes in the Ride’s history. Considered one of the most successful and popular charity rides in the country, the Ride will travel through picturesque scenes across Arizona and Utah.

Presented by Cox Automotive, the Ride will begin in Phoenix, Arizona, on April 30 and return to Phoenix on May 6 – making this the first time ever the Ride has started and ended in the same city. Cox Automotive makes buying, selling, owning and using vehicles easier for everyone and is one of the world’s largest automotive services providers. The company’s brands include Autotrader, Kelley Blue Book and Manheim, which will host the Ride for a kick-off breakfast at Manheim Phoenix on April 30.

“Leaving the world better than we found it and fostering a culture of giving back is at the very core of who we are,” said Gus Jones, general manager, Manheim Phoenix. “The Manheim Phoenix team is incredibly excited to host the riders and celebrate the start of another great journey to raise money and awareness for Victory Junction.”

Petty will cover more than 1,500 miles on a seven-day trek along with approximately 225 participants, including nearly 40 new Riders, all to raise funds and awareness for Victory Junction – a camp dedicated to providing life-changing camping experiences for children with serious medical illnesses. Some of the highlights on the 2022 route include lapping the track at Phoenix Raceway, riding historic Route 66, visiting Grand Canyon National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park and Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park, seeing the Grand Staircase and Humphries Peak, and so much more.

Spectators along the 2022 route are encouraged to attend one of the Ride’s seven overnight stops or daily fuel stops to greet Petty and the riders, purchase memorabilia and make donations.

26th Anniversary Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America Schedule:

  • Day 2, Sunday, May 1 – Lake Havasu City, Arizona to Flagstaff, Arizona
  • Day 3, Monday, May 2 – Flagstaff, Arizona to Bryce Canyon City, Utah

“We’ve been planning this 26th Anniversary Ride since the end of our 2019 event, and patiently waiting for the right time to gather again amidst the coronavirus pandemic. So now, nearly three years in the making, I’m beyond thrilled to finally get our Riders back together for an exciting adventure in Arizona and Utah,” said Petty. “This year’s Ride is all about stopping to see some of the beautiful places we’ve ridden by in the past, mixed with a few new places for our Riders to explore. Together, we will create memories to last a lifetime. And it’s all for the kids at Victory Junction! We ride so that deserving kids get to experience the magic of Camp.”

Because of the Ride, more than 8,210 children have attended Victory Junction at no cost to their families. On its 25th Anniversary in 2019, the Ride raised $1.7 million and sent 128 children to Camp. Victory Junction has served as the Ride’s primary beneficiary since its establishment by Petty and his family in 2004 in honor of his late son, Adam.

Among the celebrities participating in this year’s Ride are NASCAR Hall of Famer and seven-time champion Richard Petty; NASCAR legends Harry Gant, Hershel McGriff, Donnie Allison and Ken Schrader; and NBC Sports NASCAR personality Rick Allen.

“I used to spend a lot of time in the Southwest with my late wife, Lynda, and we were always blown away by the beautiful places we saw,” said Kyle’s father, Richard Petty. “I’ve cleared my whole schedule to participate in the full duration of this year’s Ride because I’m so excited to see some of those places again and, this time, share them with Kyle and his family.”

The 2022 Ride is made possible by presenting sponsor Cox Automotive, as well as Coca-Cola, Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Dodge Law, Racing Electronics, WinCraft Racing, FLUIDYNE Racing Products, Petty Family Foundation, Headbands of Hope, Piedmont Moving Systems, Wiley X, Blue Emu and Goody’s.

Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America Launches First-Ever Virtual Fundraiser

Kyle Petty Charity Ride, Inc. announced the launch of its “Walk, Run, Ride for 45” virtual fundraiser challenge honoring Kyle Petty’s late son, Adam. Registration for the fundraiser begins on Monday, April 5, 2021. Participants will have five weeks to fundraise before conquering the physical challenge of walking or running 4,500 steps or riding 45 miles on their bicycle or motorcycle over the course of five days – May 10 – 14, 2021. Every penny raised, every step taken, and every mile ridden helps the Ride keep Adam’s dream alive by raising awareness and funds to send children with chronic and serious medical illnesses to camp at Victory Junction.

“Walk, Run, Ride for 45” was created in lieu of postponing the 26th Anniversary Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America for the second time due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

“After receiving so many requests to hold a virtual event in place of the Ride, we are excited to deliver and open up the event to allow not only our riders, but also allow our fans to participate,” said Kyle Petty, former NASCAR driver, current NBC Sports racing analyst and founder of the Ride. “Our sole mission is to raise funds each year to provide magical camping experiences for deserving kids at Victory Junction. While we might not be having our Ride this year, our hope for the ‘Walk, Run, Ride for 45’ virtual fundraiser is to keep the Ride’s spirit alive while coming together to raise money to continue to support our cause.”

A $10 registration fee enters participants into the virtual fundraiser challenge, where they can then choose to fundraise individually or as part of a team. The top three fundraisers and top fundraising team will win the following prizes:

  1. • 1st Place Fundraiser: Four tickets to a 2021 NASCAR Cup race (conditions apply); a Zoom call with Kyle Petty; three Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America hats autographed by Kyle Petty; assorted Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America swag items
  2. • 2nd Place Fundraiser: Two tickets to a 2021 NASCAR Cup race (conditions apply); two Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America hats autographed by Kyle Petty; assorted Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America swag items

  4. • Top Fundraising Team: Six tickets to a 2021 NASCAR Cup race (conditions apply); a Zoom team call with Kyle Petty; assorted Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America swag items

Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America Launches First-Ever Virtual Fundraiser
Registration for the event will take place Monday, April 5 through Sunday, May 9. Then, to honor Adam, former driver of the No. 45 car who passed away in a racing accident on May 12, 2000, participants are encouraged to complete 4,500 steps or 45-mile challenge from May 10 – 14, 2021.

Participants can choose to walk, run or ride all at once on one specific day or they can spread it out over the course of the five-day period. Once they have completed their challenge, participants are also encouraged to share it on social media with a photo or video using #WalkRunRideFor45.

After winning two national championships within three years, he progressed to full-size cars, advancing through the Goody’s Dash Series and Legends Pro-Division.

Ragan’s Cup Series career hit its first major milestone in 2011. After nearly winning the season-opening Daytona 500, he finally earned his first Cup Series victory in July at Daytona International Speedway with his No. 6 Roush Fenway Racing team.

This year, David will experience another first. He will team up with Kyle Petty and ride cross country this May for Victory Junction!

The 2017 Ride will feature several other celebrity riders, including Richard Petty, Harry Gant, Donnie Allison, Hershel McGriff, Rick Allen, Herschel Walker, George Rogers and Bill Davidson.

Victory Junction is a camp, where free from the confines of disease, illness or disability, children discover that they can just be kids! How does this happen? Victory Junction is a medically safe, yet exhilarating camp that challenges children who have a serious medical condition to try things they never imagined possible.

As they conquer activities like zip lining and archery or experience bowling, fishing or swimming, children build confidence that will shape how they view the rest of their lives.

Kyle Petty Charity Ride across America Rides the Pacific Northwest for its 23rd Annual Route

23 years of revving up for the cause – to raise funds to send deserving kids to camp at Victory Junction

Kyle Petty Charity Ride across America Rides the Pacific Northwest for its 23rd Annual Route #kpcharityride

The Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America, one of the most successful and popular charity rides in the country, today announced the route for its 23rd annual motorcycle trek. For the first time in almost a decade, the Ride led by former NASCAR driver and NBC Sports racing analyst Kyle Petty, will travel across the Pacific Northwest.

With Manheim, North America’s leading provider of used vehicle services, as returning presenting sponsor, the Ride will leave Portland, Oregon, on May 13 and arrive in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on May 19, covering eight states in seven days. Petty will lead 200 bikers on the weeklong, 2,400-mile route to raise funds and awareness for Victory Junction – a camp dedicated to providing life-changing camping experiences for children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses.

What started out as Petty and a small group of friends riding together for fun in 1995, has grown into one of the most successful and popular charity rides in the country. This year, more than 20 first-time riders will join the dedicated team of men and women riding for the cause, along with new sponsors and a continued sense of passion.

“It’s pretty straightforward: every single mile we ride is for one cause, and that is to send chronically ill children to camp at Victory Junction at no cost to their families,” said Petty. “The Ride is an enriching experience for everyone involved, and this year we’ll be riding through some spectacular parts of the country like Mount Rushmore, and for the very first time the Columbia River Gorge.”

The Ride will see many of our country’s historic landmarks including Yellowstone and Badlands National Parks; Bighorn National Forest; and the iconic Harley-Davidson Museum, the birthplace of the all-American motorcycle manufacturing company. Emblematic of the American open road, riders will also take in roadside attractions, including the world’s largest ball of twine rolled by one man in Darwin, Minnesota.

Kyle Petty Charity Ride across America Rides the Pacific Northwest for its 23rd Annual Route #kpcharityride
“As we travel to new parts of our country – or ones we haven’t seen in a while – the Ride brings with it a passion for sharing the great work of Victory Junction and a comradery that can’t be matched. That’s what makes it one of the most popular motorcycle rides in the country,” said Kyle’s father Richard Petty.

The 2017 Ride is made possible by presenting sponsor Manheim, as well as Coca-Cola, Harley-Davidson Motor Company, FCA Fleet, Racing Electronics, WinCraft Racing, FLUIDYNE Racing Products, Petty Family Foundation, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Headbands of Hope, Piedmont Moving Systems, ArticBlu, Select-A-Vision and Goody’s.

“Giving back to the community is a core value of Manheim, so we’re thrilled once again to be supporting Victory Junction and the children who camp there,” said Janet Barnard, president, Cox Automotive Inventory Solutions. “Our teams are excited to welcome the Ride at two of our operating locations, Manheim Portland and Manheim Minneapolis, and offering their local support to this worthwhile cause.”

Summer Is Here
For The Victory Junction Campers

Be Your Campself

Summer Is Here For The Victory Junction Campers

Summer is finally here! Victory Junction welcomed their first campers of the season and Ethan was one of them. Ethan started the week making his name badge special by decorating it with beads and buttons and exploring camp with old and new friends.

On Tuesday, he took a spin in the lazy river and soaked his counselor at the splash pad in the water park, his favorite program area. There was so much for him to do during his third year at camp.

“The best is yet to come,” Ethan said.

Later Tuesday night, he cheered on a NASCAR pit crew and even used air guns to change tires at NASCARnival,  camp carnival. The rest of the week was just as eventful. From the archery range, to the fishing docks, to the theater stage where he performed with all of his cabin-mates, Ethan created camp memories this summer that he will never forget.

At Victory Junction kids find acceptance. They meet other campers who have similar illnesses and share similar challenges. The fear and hurt of teasing disappears and their self-confidence emerges along with a greater sense of independence.

This summer, the Victory Junction camp theme is Be Your Campself, which encourages their campers to take their Victory Junction experiences back home and continue being their best self. Ethan’s excitement for camp and his positive attitude truly demonstrates what it means to Be Your Campself.

Below is an awesome article by Meg Smith of Time Warner Cable:

Former NASCAR driver Kyle Petty is calling this year's charity ride the biggest and best ever.

The annual event raises money for Victory Junction, a camp that serves kids with chronic medical conditions and serious illnesses.

The Pettys have turned a deeply personal tragedy into a place where life is celebrated.

"There's not a day that goes by that you don't think of him, or a day that goes by that he doesn't cross my mind or make me laugh in a funny way,” Kyle Petty said. “There's never a time that I come to camp or I'm on a motorcycle, and I don't feel he's there with me."

When Petty's son, Adam, was killed in a NASCAR accident in 2000, he decided to open a camp to honor his son's memory.

“The idea for the camp came from a ride,” Petty said. “Adam and I were on a ride at Boggy Creek which is a sister camp to Victory Junction in Florida. Out of the blue, he's like 'why don't we build a camp in NC?'"

That's when Victory Junction was born.

"Our mission here is to serve kids with medical conditions ages 6-16,” said camp CEO Chad Coltrane. “What we want to do is provide those kids with a life-changing summer camp experience."

Kyle's annual charity ride has become the largest continuous donor to camp.

"So many people that go on the ride volunteer at camp, and we see a lot of campers along the way in every city we stop in,” Petty said.

"We've seen 23,000 kids that normally wouldn't get to go to any camp because of their afflictions,” said Richard Petty.

Supporters helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for the camp during this year's ride.

"Somewhere between $800,000 and $1,000,000 total,” Kyle Petty said.

When kids come to camp, their disabilities are left at the door, and they're able to do everything normal kids do at camp in a medically safe environment. It's all free for every single camper, thanks to fundraisers like the charity ride.

"From our standpoint, we see Adam every time we see a happy kid, and it makes us feel good, too,” Richard Petty said.

"When you see these kids leave with a smile on their face, that's a little bit of Adam smiling with each one of them,” Kyle Petty said.

This year marked the 22nd annual charity ride.

Plans are already in the works for next year's event.

Giving An Opportunity For Children To Thrive, That's Our Checkered Flag

On the racetrack the fastest car usually gets the checkered flag. In the world of children's health, the Speediatrics Children's Fund, an initiative of The NASCAR Foundation, strives to provide much needed health care and assistance to children who need it the most by putting children's health in first place.

At The NASCAR Foundation, we are able to fuel good health for children by sponsoring camp weekends at magical places like VictoryJunction. Special Families recently attended the Speediatrics Family Weekend at Victory Junction, a medically safe camp for children with serious medical conditions, located in Randleman, NC.

Mom & Dad, Andrea and Francis joined their kids Sam (age 13), Colton (age 12), and Maxwell (age 9) for a weekend of fun which included - among other things - archery, fishing, visiting the barn animals and horseback riding.

During the Speediatrics Family Weekend, Speediatrics stars "Chase and Curves" (mascots designed after the racing stars on the track) welcomed campers and made a special appearance at stage night. The NASCAR employees even got in on the act by decorating special Speediatrics themed welcome banners to adorn the family cabins. Conton's family has placed their welcome banner at home in a place of honor in their living room with other treasured Victory Junction memorabilia.

Andrea describes how important camp weekends are by saying, "Without the support of people like you and places like Victory Junction, Colton would be missing out on that whole part of childhood. It's very humbling to see him letting loose and just being a kid having a great time, especially when you know where he's coming from." Colton has been diagnosed with a heart defect that has led to five surgeries, a pacemaker and over 200 hospital admissions so far in his short 12 years of life. Something that no parent or child should ever have to cope with.

This is where a camp experience provided by the Speediatrics Children's Fund can make all the difference. A lifestyle program funded by the Speediatrics Children's Fund offeres an opportunity for a child to thrive and go full speed ahead in leading a happier, healthier life.

When describing how important the camp experience is to Colton, Andrea says, "I think it is really the only opportunity he's had to go and be independent and try himself out as being a kid who doesn't have to explain himself and the background that brought him to camp. Everybody just understands."

Let's not forget the ripple effect on all members of the family. Andrea points out the pretty difficult life they lead with doctors' appointments, on top of usual responsibilities, saying "to be able to go away for a weekend and think about nothing other than playing with one another, learning about each other and what makes us tick is a good opportunity."

In the last 10 years, the Foundation has provided camping experiences for over 1,600 kids with serious medical conditions. Andrea says, "my kids look forward to the weekend at camp all year. They are already talking about next year and planning out their stage night routines." With the generous support of fans across the country, The NASCAR Foundation continues to provide an opportunity for kids to be kids. And putting children's health in first place is what we consider our checkered flag!
