Todd Gilliland to Carry on Love’s Travel Stop Livery Into 2025 and Beyond

Todd will follow in his father, David’s, footsteps

 

Todd Gilliland will enter the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season with new, yet familiar colors. Gilliland will pilot the No. 34 Love’s Travel Stops Ford Mustang Dark Horse for Front Row Motorsports (FRM). Todd will follow in his father, David’s, footsteps in representing the Love’s colors at FRM.

 

As Love’s enters its 13th consecutive season with FRM, it was David Gilliland who first raced the Love’s livery in the 2013 Daytona 500. David went on to race for the company in 2014 and 2015, giving the FRM partner their first pole and top-five finish.

Todd first began racing for Love’s, under the Speedco banner, in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series beginning in 2020 and again in 2021. Heading into the 2025 season, the 24-year-old driver now steps into the # 34 Love’s Travel Stops Ford and is FRM’s longest tenured driver.

 

"It is really humbling to race the No. 34 Love’s Travel Stops Ford Mustang beginning next season," said Gilliland. “It’s just another cool moment in my career to race for a company that represented my father at FRM. The 34 Ford is what started FRM in the Cup Series and there is a lot of history with Love’s, FRM, and my family. I still remember watching my dad race the Love’s Ford."

Love’s will once again be the premier partner of the team and will adorn the No. 34 Ford Mustang Dark Horse for more than half of the season, beginning at the Daytona 500.

David Gilliland Racing (DGR) Hauler Driver Dies in Traffic Accident

 

A major accident, which occurred around 5:30 a.m. near mile marker 595 on Interstate 10, in Texas, scattered debris blocked lanes on both sides of the interstate. Sadly, David Gilliland Racing (DGR) hauler driver, Steven C. Stotts, was killed in the crash. Two passengers were taken to the hospital.

Black’s Tire and Auto Service to Continue Gilliland Family Tradition

Family Company to Support Todd Gilliland in Cup Rookie Season

 

A historic NASCAR partner and participant, Black’s Tire and Auto Service is back with Front Row Motorsports (FRM) and NASCAR Cup Series rookie, Todd Gilliland in 2022. Black’s Tire and Auto Service will be the primary partner of Gilliland for two races as Gilliland makes the move up to the NASCAR Cup Series.

Tyler Dippel Wins in First K&N Pro Series East Race with DGR-Crosley

Dippel Earns First Career Pole, Breaks Track Record at Langley Speedway

Tyler Dippel started competing in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series in 2016, following a stint in Super Late Models across the East Coast. Before racing on asphalt in a stock car for the first time in 2014, Dippel competed in the DIRTCar Racing Series, where he earned Rookie of the Year honors.

More recently, earlier this month, DGR-Crosley announced that 18-year-old Tyler Dippel had joined the team to compete in the remainder of the 2018 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East (NKNPSE) events. Dippel was set to pilot the No. 54 TyCar Trenchless Technologies / D&A Concrete Toyota Camry starting this weekend at Langley Speedway in Hampton, Va.

"Tyler comes to us with a lot of experience in the K&N Series," said David Gilliland, President of DGR-Crosley. "We've competed against him on a regular basis over the past two years. I've had the opportunity to watch him grow as a driver, and he's shown how much potential he has behind the wheel. He has the talent and speed that we need - I'm excited to see what we can do together this season."

That move proved most advantageous. Dippel and the No. 54 TyCar Trenchless Technologies / D&A Concrete Toyota hit the track for the first time at Langley Speedway on Friday, April 27 for a test day.

On Saturday, the Wallkill, New York native completed the weekend sweep, winning his second career NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race on Saturday night at Langley Speedway after being quickest in both forty-five minute practice sessions and starting on the pole for the Visit Hampton VA 150.

After finishing ninth at New Smyrna and sixth at Bristol earlier this season, Dippel was relieved to finally earn the victory this season.

The Visit Hampton VA 150 will air on NBCSN on Thursday, May 3 at 11 p.m. ET.

The K&N Pro Series East will return to the track in two weeks in at South Boston Speedway for the Who’s Your Driver Twin 100s on Saturday May 12 at 7 p.m. ET.

Gilliland - Like Father, Like Son – A New Beginning

When you see two trucks on track sporting the name "Gilliland" on the back window, you won’t be imagining things. For the first time, veteran driver David Gilliland and his Sunoco Rookie of the Year-contending son Todd will face off against each other in a NASCAR national series race.

Todd will finally be able to start his 2018 campaign behind the wheel of the No. 4 Toyota for Kyle Busch Motorsports when the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series heads to Martinsville this Saturday (2 p.m. ET on FS1, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).

He isn’t eligible to compete on intermediate tracks or superspeedways until he reaches his 18th birthday in May. So, until now, in 2018 Todd’s had to sit on the sidelines and watch a cast of substitute drivers pilot his truck.

His dad drove it in the season-opener at Daytona before his truck owner, Kyle Busch, took over for Atlanta and Spencer Davis drove it in Las Vegas.

It hasn’t been easy for Todd to sit back and watch other drivers pilot his truck. "It's been very hard. I'm a racer and all I want to do is race. Seeing other people jump in the truck you are going to be in the rest of the year is really tough, but you have to take every opportunity you have to learn and catch up to the guys who already have three more races worth of experience than I do."

Todd competed in six Camping World Truck Series races in 2017, posting a pair of top fives and three top 10s. He had a best finish of third at New Hampshire and crossed the line fifth at Martinsville in the fall.

David is racing the No. 54 Toyota for DGR-CROSLEY Racing – a team that was formed when David Gilliland Racing and CROSLEY Sports Group joined forces for the 2018 season. The organization, which fields late model, NASCAR K&N Pro Series, ARCA and Camping World Truck Series entries, is co-owned by David and Bo LeMastus.

David has 11 series starts under his belt and won the pole this season at Daytona while driving his son’s No. 4 KBM entry. He’s taken the green flag 333 times in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, including in the 2018 Daytona 500. He has a trio of poles (all on superspeedways), four top-five and eight top-10 finishes in NASCAR’s premier series.

Q&A with Todd Gilliland

How hard has it been watching other people drive your truck for the first three races?

"It's been very hard. I'm a racer and all I want to do is race. Seeing other people jump in the truck you are going to be in the rest of the year is really tough, but you have to take every opportunity you have to learn and catch up to the guys who already have three more races worth of experience than I do."

What did you learn from being at the races and listening to feedback on the team radio?

"Anytime you can listen to someone on the radio and especially a Cup champion like Kyle Busch, is always a great honor. Just the way that he can break down every corner of the race car and what needs to be fixed the most and what can wait. I think that's all stuff you can learn from and what is going to take you to the next level."

You finished fifth at Martinsville last fall. What is the key to winning there?

"I think it's going to be tough. The race is all about restarts and track position, so having a fast truck and being able to qualify up front and hopefully controlling the race. Last year in the fall, we were kind of just in the middle of the pack and were able to capitalize and make our Tundra a lot better to keep track position. I'd like to be able to control the race a little bit better this time."

Newly Formed DGR-Crosley Name NASCAR K&N West Champion as Their First Truck Driver

David Gilliland Racing (DGR) and CROSLEY Sports Group named Chris Eggleston as the first driver of the No. 17 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) Toyota for a select number of races.

Eggleston finished second to Bill McAnally Racing (BMR) teammate, Todd Gilliland (newly announced DGR-CROSLEY ARCA and K&N driver) last year in the NASCAR K&N West Series.

Racking up:

• thirteen Top 10’s
• four poles 

in the 2017 K&N season, Eggleston is ready to jump into a NCWTS truck and try his hand with the newly formed DGR-CROSLEY team.

“Although DGR-Crosley will be new to the truck side of things from an ownership perspective,” Eggleston commented. “I feel very confident that we will be running up front, especially with the new trucks from Red Horse (previously known as Red Horse Racing) and support from TRD. It proves David (Gilliland) and his team are committed to their truck program and I’m really looking forward to be a part of it and help make it grow.”

Eggleston, the 2015 NASCAR K&N West Series Champion cut his teeth in Quarter Midgets moving his way through the ranks of Legends cars, Super Late Models and dabbling in the truck series in 2010. It’s been eight years since his last truck series start and he’s looking forward to kicking off his 2018 NCWTS season at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway in May.

“I’m excited to race at the tracks we’ve picked this year, starting with Charlotte,” Eggleston explained. “With my past limited truck starts, Charlotte was one of my favorite places to race so what better place to start. It’s also the heart of NASCAR and DGR-CROSLEY’s home track.” Eggleston is no stranger to the Gilliland family as he and Todd were teammates for two years at BMR competing against each other for the K&N West Series Championship.

“We are excited to have Chris join our DGR-CROSLEY team and drive our truck for a few races,” the elder Gilliland said. “We’ve watched him race on the west coast, he is a West Series Champion after all and brings some experience to the table. As we navigate the first few races with a newly formed team, we are confident he will work hard and give us great feedback to learn and grow together.”

Todd Gilliland Adds More Races to The 2018 Schedule

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series 2018 Roy Contender Adds More Races To Busy 2018 Racing Schedule

David Gilliland Racing (DGR) and CROSLEY Sports Group announced Todd Gilliland will drive the No. 54 Frontline Enterprises Toyota in select races in the NASCAR K&N Pro East Series (K&N) as well as Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) Series during the 2018 season.

Gilliland amassed 18 wins, 25 Top 5’s, 45 Top 10’s and 15 Pole’s in three seasons racing in the K&N East/West Series’ combined. He also won the 2016 and 2017 NASCAR K&N West Series Championships and finished second in the 2017 K&N East Series. As no stranger to the K&N East Series, Gilliland will make his first start of the 2018 season at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway in February.

“Racing in the K&N Series over the last few seasons, I’ve learned how to race well,” Gilliland said. “Now I get to take the beginning of the year to gain more experience and then apply it on a bigger scale when I compete in the truck series for KBM.”

Since Gilliland won’t be eligible to run the larger tracks in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series until he turns 18-years old in May, he will use the first few months of 2018 to race in the other series’. A product of the NASCAR Next program, Gilliland wants to gain experience for when he sits in the No. 4 KBM Toyota Tundra full time.

“Gaining as much experience as possible, especially on the 1.5-mile tracks,” Gilliland explained. “Is going to be huge in helping me and my KBM team as we compete for wins and the ROY title this year.”

Todd won his 2nd consecutive K&N Pro Series West championship in 2017

Only days after his 15th birthday, Gilliland became the youngest driver to compete in the ARCA Racing Series back in May of 2015, at Toledo (Ohio) Speedway. A race he then won, becoming the youngest winner in ARCA Racing Series history. Gilliland will try his hand in the ARCA Series cars again for a few races beginning at Charlotte (N.C) Motor Speedway in May.

“By putting Todd in DGR-CROSLEY equipment for the ARCA and K&N races, we hope the added experience will accelerate the learning curve for him in the truck series,” team owner, David Gilliland said.

For the younger Gilliland to continue running out of the DGR-CROSLEY Racing stable is no surprise. The Gilliland family racing career dates back three generations as Todd’s grandfather Butch won the 1997 NASCAR Winston West Series Championship (now NASCAR K&N West Series) and his father, David competed full time in NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series.

“It’s going to be an exciting week (in Daytona),” the elder Gilliland explained. “Especially with two cars in the field at New Smyrna, we have high expectations of competing for the win with both cars.”

It will be a big week in Daytona Beach, Florida, for DGR-CROSLEY as they have cars competing in the K&N East Series at New Smyrna Speedway, ARCA Racing Series at Daytona International Speedway and the owner, David Gilliland running the Camping World Truck Series race and Daytona 500.

The Gillilands Team Up in the KBM #4 Camping World Truck

Todd Gilliland and his father David announce their big plans for 2018. Todd will compete for the 2018 Camping World Truck Series 'Rookie of the Year' title. However, since he is currently only seventeen, he will need a substitute driver for some of the bigger tracks until he turns eighteen in May.

It is no surprise that Gilliland’s boss Kyle Busch will step-up to fill that gap. However, what was a pleasant revelation is that Todd’s father David will fill in for his son for the Daytona race.

“I will be driving the #4 Tundra at Daytona,” the elder Gilliland informed Todd. “I’ll keep the seat warm for ya. You know I have done this before – I made twenty-one starts at Daytona including Cup, Xfinity and Trucks. I’m no Rookie – Rookie”

Gilliland Takes United Site Services 70

Todd Gilliland fell just short in his New Hampshire Motor Speedway debut last July. On Saturday, he redeemed himself, besting Chase Purdy in a two-car battle to win the K&N Pro Series East United Site Services 70 to close out a Tripleheader Saturday of racing at NHMS.

Gilliland, who finished second in this race last year, led most of the way on Saturday, pulling away from Purdy over the final 10 laps to win by more than 7.5 seconds.

"It's really special to be able to win this race," said Gilliland, son of former Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driver David Gilliland. "To have my dad here for all my wins, he is such a big part of this."

Purdy, the pole-sitter for the United Site Services 70, finished second, while Ronnie Bassett Jr., Harrison Burton and Sheldon Creed round out the top-five.

"We had a really good qualifying spot, so it's kind of disappointing - you expect more," Purdy said. "All in all I feel good and we got to go after it next week."

Burton is the son of Jeff Burton, the winningest driver in Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series history at NHMS with four victories. Burton was eyeing his fourth win in his last five K&N Pro Series East starts. He continues to hold a 17-point lead in the standings over Gilliland with five races remaining.

Robert Yates Engines/Mid-Season Momentum

The 2017 race season has started out strong for Ford Performance and Roush Yates Engines. In their 14^th year as partners, collaborating on the development of championship caliber race engines, this dynamic partnership has won 18 races and 17 poles across the NASCAR and road racing programs since the start of 2017. This impressive beginning to the year has been due to the success of 12 different drivers and eight different Ford Performance organizations, across all six series.

The racing season kicked off red hot in Daytona Beach, Florida, where five out of the six series started their seasons. Ford Performance proved they were on a MISSION to win from the season-opener, capturing three out of the five wins at Daytona International Speedway.

In the IMSA season-opener, Ford Chip Ganassi Racing reunited the four Ford GT teams to run in the Rolex 24 At Daytona. Building on the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans victory, the Ford GTs did not disappoint the fans, taking the pole and the checkered flag in the first IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship endurance race of the 2017 season. The No. 66 team of Joey Hand, Dirk Müller and Sébastien Bourdais mirrored their 2016 Le Mans victory to win consecutive 24-hour endurance poles and races within a span of six months.

In the inaugural IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge (CTSC) race for the Ford Mustang GT4, the No. 59 of Dean Martin and Cameron Maugeri from KohR Motorsports, made history by capturing the pole position at Daytona and recording the Mustang’s first Grand Sport (GS) pole victory.

NASCAR shifted into high gear in February, during Daytona Speedweeks and so did the 27 Ford Performance teams, including new comer Stewart-Haas Racing. Stewart-Haas Racing is a title-winning NASCAR team co-owned by three-time Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) champion Tony Stewart and Gene Haas, founder of Haas Automation – the largest CNC machine tool builder in North America.

The No. 22, Joey Logano of Team Penske found himself in the right place at the right time to win the Clash at Daytona International Speedway. Logano, became the sixth Ford driver to win the season-opening non-points events.

During the second week of Speedweeks, Roush Fenway Racing found its way to victory lane in the NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) with the No.16 Ryan Reed, winning his first race at the legendary speedway.

The Daytona 500 proved to be a drag race of horsepower between fellow Ford Performance teammates, Kurt Busch of Stewart-Haas Racing and Ryan Blaney of Wood Brothers Racing. Busch went on to win his first MENCS Daytona 500 and first for SHR under the Ford Blue Oval. This also marked the fifth consecutive restrictor plate win for Ford Performance and Roush Yates Engines.

The No. 4, Kevin Harvick of SHR, captured his career 18th Cup pole and the first of the year for Ford Performance, while the number 2 deuce, Brad Keselowski from Team Penske achieved his first Cup win of the season at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

During the West Coast swing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Logano drove the No. 12 Team Penske Ford Mustang to victory lane and achieved his 28th career NXS win.

Team Penske teammate, Keselowski also found success in the dessert, capturing his 13th career Cup pole in Las Vegas.

In Sebring, Florida the Ford Mustang GT4 took its first podium in the IMSA CTSCS. The No. 60 KohR Motorsports car, piloted by Jade Buford and Scott Maxwell started from the pole position and made history as they achieved the 50th Grand Sport class win for Ford Performance.

From behind the wheel of the No. 67 Ford GT, Ryan Briscoe followed up the Rolex 24 At Daytona pole, by earning the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship, GTLM pole at the Twelve Hours of Sebring.

Logano added to his NASCAR pole count, winning poles at both Phoenix Raceway and at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California.

On Roger Penske’s 1000th NASCAR start, Keselowski brought home his second win of the season at Martinsville Speedway and marked the 56th victory of all-time for Team Penske and Ford.

Harvick leveraged the horsepower of the Ford FR9 engine to collect his 19th career pole at Texas Motor Speedway.

In Texas, driving Team Penske’s No. 12 car, Logano posted a speed of 192.768 mph in the final round of qualifying to earn his 33rd Xfinity career pole.

In April, the Ford Chip Ganassi Racing – UK sister-cars started the FIA World Endurance Championship Series (WEC) season by qualifying on the pole and ultimately capturing the win in the Six Hours of Silverstone. Harry Tincknell, with fellow drivers Andy Priaulx and new comer Pipo Derani took the checkered flag, in the No. 67 Ford GT to win the season opener.

On Logano’s 300th NASCAR start, he captured his first 2017 Cup win at Richmond by beating fellow Team Penske teammate Keselowski to make it a 1-2 Ford finish.

In Talladega, Aric Almirola captured his first 2017 Xfinity win of the season in the No. 98, Biagi DenBeste Ford Mustang.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Roush Fenway Racing made it a clean sweep at Talladega Superspeedway. He captured his first career Cup pole, at a speed of 191.547mph and first career Cup win. This Talladega win accounted for Jack Roush’s 324th overall NASCAR win.

The No. 21 Wood Brothers’ Racing Ford Fusion captured the 6th Ford Performance Cup pole of the season at Kansas Motor Speedway with Blaney behind the wheel. Marking Blaney’s first career Cup pole.

In Charlotte, Blaney carried this momentum, where he won Ford’s fourth Xfinity race of the year in the No. 12 Team Penske Ford Mustang.

Charlotte Motor Speedway paid dividends for Stewart-Haas Racing, where Harvick captured his third pole of the year and Ford’s seventh over-all.

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series rookie, Chase Briscoe found success in Dover, as he drove the No. 29 Brad Keselowski Racing truck to his first pole in the series.

Ford Performance and Roush Yates Engines horsepower dominated Pocono as the hard charging Keselowski swept both stages of the Pocono Green 250 in the NXS on his way to making a last lap pass to take the No. 22 Discount Tire Ford Mustang back to victory lane for the first time in 2017.

Young gun Blaney would make his own history at Pocono by winning his first ever career Cup race with the legendary Wood Brothers’ Racing team and the No. 21 Ford Fusion. This marked the Wood Brother’s 99th overall NASCAR win.

Chase Briscoe continued to rack up poles as he edged out John Hunter Nemechek by .020 of a second to win his second pole of the season at Gateway Motorsports Park.

On the way to capturing his first win of the season, the No. 4 Harvick led a Ford 1-2-3 sweep at Sonoma Raceway. Harvick became the fifth Ford driver to secure a spot in the NASCAR play-offs, joining Busch, Keselowski, Stenhouse Jr., and Blaney.

In Watkins Glen, NY - The No. 59 Ford Mustang GT, KohR Motorsports’ won their second IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge in the Continental 120 at Watkins Glen International and marked Roush Yates Engines’ milestone 300th overall race win since 2004.

Joey Hand qualified the No.66 Ford GT on the pole for the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen in thrilling qualifying session, making this the Ford GT's second-consecutive GTLM pole at Watkins Glen International.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. won the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway and accomplished the sixth consecutive restrictor plate race win for Ford Performance and Roush Yates Engines. No manufacturer has dominated the restrictor-plate tracks of Daytona and Talladega more than Ford Performance, which has won 15 of the last 27 MENCS events at these two tracks.

Robert Yates was recognized for his accomplishments, legendary career and contributions to the sport of NASCAR by being voted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame as part of the five-member Class of 2018.
