Contest Over - Kim Burton and Libby's Table-Gating Giveaway. Winner to be announced soon.

The Burton FamilyThe Burton Family
(Jeff, Paige, Harrison, & Kim)

While track fare can be fun and easy; it is not always the healthiest solution to lunch or dinner at the race track. Also feeding your family from the track vendors can be a family budget calamity.

That is why Kim Burton has teamed with Libby’s to “Encourage Families to Share their Winning Solutions for Getting Back to the Table.” They have launched, at select speedways and online, the Libby's Table-Gating Recipe Contest, a nationwide contest that will send five lucky finalists to New York City this September to compete in the Get Back to the Table month recipe cook-off judged by country superstar Sara Evans.

Moms and dads can submit their family's favorite tailgating recipes using Libby's Vegetables at the Libby's tent at the race tracks or online at GetBacktotheTable.com. A winner from each of the four tracks (Dallas/ Ft. Worth, Phoenix, Charlotte and Dover), as well as an online winner, will compete in the cook-off and the grand prize winner will receive a family trip to Daytona, Florida! The contest ends June 30, 2009.

To learn more about Libby's Vegetables' Get Back to the Table Tent at select race tracks this spring, families can log on to GetBacktotheTable.com. The site also features tips for saving time and money at the grocery store, tools for meal planning and an interactive recipe database of easy, delicious, budget-conscious recipes.

An Outdoor Living Tailgate Kit is a perfect accessory to help you get your family back to the table while enjoying the races. This tailgate kit tucks away neatly in your trunk, yet opens up to provide a world of on-the-go convenience and fun!

This handy tote features a 15 can insulated cooler compartment for drinks and food and a compact grill with spacious grilling surface that can cook 12 hot dogs at a time. You also get a stainless steel tool set including a turning fork, easy-grip tongs and oversized spatula with a built-in bottle opener. Tote also has reinforced base, padded handle and shoulder strap for easy carrying. 19" x 7-1/2" x 12-1/2". (ARV $79.99)

HI Z,

Most of our dinner meals on the go are drive thru. For breakfast it typically consists of frozen waffles/pancakes cooked at home and then eaten in the car.

I have a small plug-in (to the cigarette lighter) fridge. Keep homemade lemonade and sandwich fixings there. Boy, does that save money on a road trip!

Unfortunately, most of our 'meals on the go' consists of fast food. If we are going to be gone for an extended period of time, I make tuna salad, potato salad, etc., and put them in leak proof containers so I can add them to the cooler along with beverages. Then I carry bread, chips, and cookies along with the cooler.

So many nights we go straight from one event to another. I try to make meals ahead of time that can just be warmed up if they have time to eat at home or that can be packed up and eaten in the car on the way t the next activity.

We pack lunches often in the summer months and it is usually, sandwiches, cheese and crackers, fruit, pringles, juices boxes and soda or depending on where we are going maybe a bottle of wine. If we are traveling for a long distance we usually bring peanut butter, a loaf of bread, fruit, trail mix and water - nothing that has to be kept cold. The only one that can really stand fast food is our daughter so that isn't an option.

Unknown said...

With a daughter who plays travel softball we always find ourselves eating on the run. A cooler packed with cheese, pepperoni, crackers, fruit, salad, sandwiches or cold chicken is our summer staple while we are on the road. Cold drinks and a thermos of coffee are a must too!

For meals on the go, we pack a cooler of things that are easy to eat and things we don't eat every day. I cut up a couple of kinds of cheese and several different kinds of lunch meat. We place these sorted into ziplock bags. I also take a couple of kinds of crackers to eat the cheese and lunch meat with. It keeps better than sandwiches and the kids like it better. We also take grapes, raisins, cheese sticks and some cookie. Over Christmas we traveled to see family (two days of driving one way). We managed to only have to eat out once a day while traveling so this saved us a lot of money.

Sad to say, most meals on the go are fast food. I wish we would pack more lunches.

For longer trips we pack a cooler with sandwiches and drinks and bring things like chips and snacks. If it's a short trip we usually stop at a fast food place.

Meals on the go tend to be fast food for us. My son has recently suggested that we start packing sandwiches and stuff for long trips, though, which is a great idea and goes back to how my family did it growing up.

I make food and have snacks on hand when we're on the go. It can be anything from fruit, veggies sandwiches to chicken and homemade pizza pockets :)

Meals on the go is usually fast food, but prefer the sandwich locations where you can pick 2, e.g., salad & 1/2 sandwich or soup & salad. When I do pack a cooler, I like the turkey and bread separate & make sandwiches when needed, along with raisins & almonds.

There are times when I have to call our boys to the table. But, since they're teenagers, they're usually asking when dinner will be ready, and they're ready and waiting.

Corn is my family's favorite vegetable, and Libby's corn is always sweet and crisp.

We usually just fix sandwiches and bring chips and veggies, when we eat on the go. I love the table-gating set. I think it would be great to take fishing with us. Thanks for having the contest!

I like to prepare as much as possible for healthy meals on the go such as to have baby carrots handy and cut fruits or vegetables. I also do individual servings of nuts and have on hand Kashi bars or individual portions of Bear Naked granola.

Our first meal on the go is sandwiches and fruit in the cooler. The rest of the meals are take out or fast food places. We always have a cooler of drinks and fruit.
