ARCA West 2021 At Colorado: Race Preview

#ARCA West 2021 At Colorado: Race Preview

Almost a month's wait since the Irwindale race! But our patience is rewarded with a nice entry list of 18 drivers. Especially since this race has not seen so many entrants since 2018. With even a sad record of only 11 drivers last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

This .375-mile paved oval bullring still offers a lot of spectacles. This will be the 19th race of the West Series here since 1995. As often it's Bill McAnally Racing who holds the record for wins with eight, the last two with Hailie Deegan in 2019 and Jesse Love last year.

Eternal rival Bruncati Racing follow with three. Jesse Love had totally dominated this race in 2020 en route to his first championship. Note that Chris Eggleston with 3 successes is the most victorious driver in history at the Colorado National Speedway.

The key to success will be tire management because the race takes place in one segment and it's forbidden (except punctures) to change tires throughout the race.

I've said everything about this track in previous years so I'm going to focus on the entry list.

#4 Eric Nascimento

The Nascimento family made a deal with Velocity Racing, the family team that raced Jack Wood in the West Series in previous seasons, to use one of their cars. A good car because Jack had shown it was fast. Let's just hope the reliability is there this time around. The team uses the #4, the owner's license of which belongs to Bill McAnally Racing. That's why Alex McAnally's name is on the entry list. But the Nascimento family will take care of everything. Father Mike being the crew chief. This will be Eric's first West Series oval race after a successful run in Sonoma in June.

#6 Trevor Huddleston

The CNS is a short track that is doing well for Trevor as he had 1 top5 and 3 top10 in 3 races. Best result, a 3rd position in 2018. He got the 6th position at Irwindale, his best result this season. Now is the time to prove he can still win races. His 6th position in the championship is not worthy of a driver whose in his 4th full season in a top team like Bruncati Racing and with Bill Sedgwick as crew chief

#7 Takuma Koga

Irwindale’s race ended violently in the wall for Takuma following contact with Amber Balcaen. It’s one of his worst start to a career. But if you look at the stats, in recent years it's always in the 4th race of the season that Takuma gets his first top10. Regarding Jerry Pitts’s team, 3 races without a top10, this had never happened. But the potential is there. In addition, the CNS is precisely the type of bullring that Takuma likes. In 4 races here, he got 2 top10s.

#08 John Wood

What a pleasure to see John behind the wheel, who had been absent last season due to the pandemic. He obtained two top10s in 8 races at the CNS, including a superb 6th position in 2019. The best career result in 84 starts. Eternal friend Mike Holleran will be the crew chief.

#9 Jake Drew

A pole at Sonoma, a nice 4th position at Irwindale. The rookie seems to be comfortable regardless of the type of circuit. He and his crew chief Jeff Schrader seem to have found a perfect alchemy and he will be a serious candidate for the 2021 title of champion.

#13 Todd Souza

The experienced driver from Watsonville, CA is having the season of his life this year. 3 top10 in 3 races and leadership in the championship tied with Dean Thompson. The CNS is an oval that Todd appreciates with 4 top10s in 5 races including a 3rd position in 2019 as the best result. Last year he only finished 8th following an accident. CCR held a private session with two cars in preparation for this race.

#16 Jesse Love

Last year he dominated the race and claimed his third victory of the season. Leading him straight to the title of champion. This year for Jesse, the results are like a roller coaster! One race is fine and the next one is not. 6th in Phoenix, 19th in Sonoma and 1st in Irwindale. I hope Jesse will make the stats lie and have two good results in a row this season! If he wins, Jesse would join the very select club of drivers who have won the Colorado race twice in a row. A club currently made up of two members, Mike Duncan and Chris Eggleston.

#19 Jolynn Wilkinson

JoJo  will be making his West Series debut. She who drives in SLM and participates in the BMR Drivers Academy this year will be at the wheel of the 3rd car from BMR, the #19. A car that has been successively driven by Derek Kraus, Eric Nascimento and Amber Balcaen this season. She will be the 7th driver to use the #19 since BMR was created in 1992. And let’s note that after Hailie Deegan and Amber Balcaen, she will be the 3rd girl to ride with the #19. John Camilleri will be her crew chief.

#21 Josh Fanopoulos

What a pleasure to see that Josh has found a good sponsor who should allow him to participate in all races this season. Change of number for the occasion. But it’s still John Wood’s team. Joe Daley will be the crew chief.

#27 Bobby Hillis, Jr.

It's not just Todd Souza having his best career start to the season, Bobby is also. With 2 top10s in 3 races. To avoid damaging his new car, the old Kamree will be released at the CNS. A car known for its slowness but which is a favorite with spectators. Oddly enough, despite a career that started in 2001, this will only be Bobby's 4th race on the CNS (2004, 2019-2020).

#31 Paul Pedroncelli

The father seems to have taken a liking to the West Series. What was to be a one shot in Sonoma has been going on ever since. And that's good ! But like in Irwindale, in the event of a problem with P.J.'s car, Chevrolet #31 will be renumbered as #33 because it's first and foremost the son's backup car. But to prove the seriousness of the Pedroncellis' approach, Rodd Kneeland will once again be the crew chief. Especially since the father is getting closer to the top10. 13th in Sonoma and 11th in Irwindale.

#33 Paul Pedroncelli, Jr.

Did P.J. and his crew chief Ty Joiner dream of such a start to the season? I honestly don't think so. Because without this engine failure at Irwindale, P.J. would not be “only” 7th in the championship. But he's only 11 points behind the leader. The dream can still go on. It will be his first race at the CNS.

#38 Hiroyuki Ueno

Our Japanese friend is playing overtime with an extra race. And that's good. Because he was not unworthy at Irwindale. On the contrary, his race was serious and the goal of learning perfectly fulfilled. The Ford #38 is not the fastest car, that's for sure, but this chassis has a great merit, that of having allowed so many drivers to cut their teeth in the West Series in the last few years. Mike Holleran having the gift of splitting himself, he will also be the crew chief of #38, just as he is also of #08. But since the two cars are from the same team, that makes things easier!

#51 Dean Thompson

15th in Phoenix, 6th in Sonoma and 2nd in Irwindale (with pole). The rookie impresses everyone. Oh yes, I forgot to say that he's also the leader of the championship! The association between Bruncati Racing and High Point Racing is a perfect success. As does the relationship between Dean and his crew chief Travis Thirkettle. This is definitely THE SURPRISE of the year. I have no doubts that #51 will be on Victory Lane before the end of the season.

#54 Joey Iest

FINALLY !!! It took 7 races to finally see Joey get his first career top10 (3rd at Irwindale). Yet in each race, he was among the fastest. But incredible bad luck followed him like its shadow. Mike Naake can catch his breath. Joey is talented and with high spirits, he will be formidable this weekend!

#77 Mariah Boudrieau

The Colorado driver will make her debut on a track she knows all about. An advantage especially with the limited practice time provided by ARCA at the CNS. Another advantage for Mariah is to start with a team renowned for the quality of its equipment. The #77 of PP1M being regularly in the top10. Joe Nava and his team have been participating in the West Series since 1998 and have 5 wins, 27 top5, 76 top10 and 2 poles in 181 races. Mariah will be the 23rd driver of the team and the 2nd woman after Michelle Theriault in 2005. Dave McKenzie will be the crew chief.

#88 Bridget Burgess

After a great race in Sonoma, Irwindale’s one will not leave good memories for the Burgess family. Not fast enough and ultimately the collateral victim of an accident. 10th last year at the CNS, she has the potential to do better.

#99 Cole Moore

Ultra domineering in BMRDA races, Cole has a little more trouble in the West Series. Yet the results are good. 4th in Sonoma and 5th in Irwindale. But despite everything, Cole seems a tone lower and is not yet contending for the win. But it's only a matter of time and his crew chief Mario Isola is a great asset. The level this year in the West Series is incredible with many contenders for victory in every race. He finished 14th in 2016 for his only race at the CNS.

Now it's time for the show.

Have a good race!

ARCA Calypso Lemonade 200

ARCA Calypso Lemonade 200

Winchester Speedway - Saturday, July 31

#ARCA Calypso Lemonade 200

The ARCA Menards Series returns to Winchester Speedway this Saturday, July 31 for the Calypso Lemonade 200. The Midwest Modifieds Tour will also be in action with a 35-lap feature.

Saturday’s Calypso Lemonade 200 will mark race No.12 of the 20-race season, and also makes up race six of the ten race Sioux Chief Showdown. Ty Gibbs holds the points lead in both standings, having just taken over the ARCA Menards Series championship lead after his win at Iowa Speedway this past Saturday night.

“It’ll be cool to see if Ty Gibbs continues his dominance of Winchester or if Corey Heim will take him down once again. There are a lot of other young drivers eager to get to victory lane,” said Bob Dillner, Promoter of Winchester Speedway and the host of MAVTV’s  live coverage of the ARCA Menards Series. “Winchester is a track that can reach out and bite you in a hurry, so the complexion of the season could change drastically on Saturday night under the lights. Plus, I’m looking forward to the ‘Mighty Modifieds’ of the Midwest as well.”

Just three drivers have claimed wins with the ARCA Menards Series in 2021. Ty Gibbs has six wins and his closest championship competitor Corey Heim has four. 17 year-old Daniel Dye became the only other driver to visit victory lane when he won his first-career race at Berlin Raceway on July 17.

ARCA made their first visit to the World’s Fastest Half Mile all the way back in 1957, when Don O’Dell took the win over eventual series champion Iggy Katona. Current points leader Ty Gibbs won last year’s race, the first for ARCA at Winchester since 2017.

A total of 29 races have been contested at Winchester, with ten-time series champion Frank Kimmel holding the most wins with six. Current NASCAR Cup Series stars Alex Bowman and Chase Briscoe, and NASCAR Xfinity and Truck Series drivers Brandon Jones and Austin Wayne Self have all won at Winchester on their way to the highest levels of NASCAR.

On-track activity is slated to begin at 3:00pm ET with the Midwest Modifieds and their one hour practice session. ARCA will get a 45 minute session at 4:15pm, with Modified qualifying following immediately after. General Tire Pole Qualifying for ARCA is slated to start at 6:00pm.

The Modifieds will have their feature at 6:30, with a scheduled distance of 50 laps. The ARCA Menards Series Calypso Lemonade 200 will commence at 8:00. It will be broadcasted live on MAV TV.

Triller Enters NASCAR Space with Partnership with Rising Star Toni Breidinger

Triller Enters NASCAR Space with Partnership with Rising Star Toni Breidinger

22-Year-Old Rookie, First Arab-American Female In NASCAR, To Use Triller For Multimedia Fan Engagement; Triller To Sponsor Her Car Starting This Weekend in ARCA Menards Race in Indiana

Triller Enters NASCAR Space with Partnership with Rising Star Toni Breidinger

Triller, the globally popular AI-powered social media experience, today announced its entry into NASCAR with a partnership with driver Toni Breidinger, the 22-year-old rookie driver who has made history as the first Arab-American female driver in the circuit's history. The partnership will begin this Saturday with the ARCA Menards Series race at Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Indiana. Breidinger will be driving the #25 Triller Toyota Camry after recently switching to Venturini Motorsports, a Toyota Racing Development team, for the remainder of the 2021 season. Breidinger, who already has one of the largest social followings for any NASCAR driver, will fully document her racing experience on Triller and will have her car wrapped with Triller signage this weekend. She is the all-time winningest female in United States Auto Club (USAC) history with 19 wins, a record that helped her move into NASCAR's ARCA Menards Series this year.

"Toni Breidinger is the perfect fit for our entry into NASCAR and all forms of racing for Triller," said Bobby Sarnevesht, Chairman and Co-Owner of Triller. "She is a disruptive, smart, highly competitive, socially conscious and engaged athlete who our millions of followers are just starting to learn about. We look forward to helping to elevate her story and her platform and to connecting her with the stars who are already deeply involved in Triller, as well as giving our followers a first look into NASCAR and helping to grow the sport with a younger and very engaged and loyal audience."

"As a young athlete who has diverse interests and wants to have young people get excited about the sport I love, racing, Triller is the perfect place for me," Breidinger said. "The mix of engaged socially conscious young people from around the world is the audience I want to connect with, and I think as we grow together all will learn, have fun and experience new events together. I am thankful for this partnership with Triller and for them to believe in female athletes and especially in motorsports."

In February, Breidinger made history as NASCAR's first Arab-American female driver, when she raced in the ARCA Menards Series at the Daytona International Speedway, finishing in 18th place out of 33 — ahead of the two other women who competed, and earning her an appearance on "Ellen." She is one of 10 females competing across NASCAR races this season.

The partnership will begin with the ARCA Menards Race at Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Indiana, and will continue for all five of her races this season: August 22 at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield Illinois; September 5 at the DuQuoin State Fair in DuQuoin, Illinois; October 23rd at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, KS; and November 6th at Phoenix Speedway in Phoenix, AZ. Toni currently races in the ARCA Menards Series, a feeder division into the Nascar Touring Series. In 2021, Toni placed 18th at Daytona, 12th at Talladega, 12th at Kansas, and 20th at Charlotte.

This is the latest part of a progressive strategy that Triller is going to extend into sports. In addition to the highly successful Triller Fight Club series, which continues with the first of a long series of Tuesday night fights at Madison Square Garden and will also feature the September 11 matchup between Oscar de La Hoya and Vitor Belfort at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Triller is an exclusive broadcast partner of the BIG3, the official creator of the new global sport, FIREBALL3, and purchased premium entertainment and sports channel FITE earlier in the year. The platform continues to also engage in large scale promotions marrying sports and entertainment, including hosting the cast of Space Jam 2 at Triller House in LA prior to the premiere of the film starring LeBron James, Don Cheadle and other NBA and WNBA stars.

Triller will have additional announcements about new partnerships in all areas of global sport in the coming weeks.

#ARCA Racing at Iowa Speedway

Almost fifteen years have passed since the ARCA Menards Series became the first racing series to compete at what was then a brand-new Iowa Speedway.

With the exception of 2014, the 0.875-mile paved oval in Newton, Iowa, known as “The Fastest Short Track on The Planet” has appeared on the ARCA Menards Series schedule every year since. That tradition continues in 2021.

Tonights night’s Shore Lunch 150 marks the first of three ARCA Menards Series / ARCA Menards Series East combination events of the season. The drivers who are entered will receive points for both series.

“It’s the only 7/8-mile race track in the country that I’m aware of,” said Wallace, the NASCAR Hall of Famer and 1989 Cup Series champion who designed Iowa Speedway in the mid-2000s and who will attend Saturday night’s race and participate in an autograph session before he drives the pace car to lead the field to the green flag. “When we designed that track, we made it three different banking angles; I believe it’s 13, 14 and 15 degrees of banking angles. And those particular angles really created side-by-side racing.

“One thing I wanted to do also is, when we designed the track, really bank up the exits of the corners so the drivers when they try to pass can stay leaning on that banking and make the pass instead of coming off the banking and all of the sudden the track falls flat and the pass goes away.

“That’s one of the reasons almost all of the competitors who go there love racing there.”

The Shore Lunch 150 will broadcast live on MAVTV Motorsports Network starting at 8 p.m. CT / 9 p.m. ET with a live stream available on NBC Sports Gold’s TrackPass.

Sabré Cook – W Series' American Competitor

Sabré Cook – W Series' American Competitor #RethinkRacing

Sabré Cook – W Series' American Competitor

Have you been cheering for Sabré Cook? Haven’t heard of her? Well now that NASCAR is on a breather . . . . it might be the perfect time to learn about this enterprising young racer and the W Series.

Sabré began karting at eight and won her first World Championship in a TAG Junior kart aged 13. Just four years later, she became the first female to win the SKUSA Pro Tour National Championship.

If you are not following Sabré , you are probably not aware of the W Series; so let’s start there.

W Series which launched in October 2018, was created to promote female talent with a funded six-round series and a $1.5 million prize pool. It’s goal is to provide an equal opportunity for women and eliminate the financial barriers that have historically prevented them from progressing to the upper echelons of motorsport.

Quick History Lesson: In November of 2018, Series released a list of fifty-five (55) contenders for a spot on the eighteen (18)-driver grid for its inaugural campaign in 2019. American hopefuls included Toni Breidinger, Courtney Crone, Natalie Decker, Cassie Gannis, Shea Holbrook, Sheena Monk, Hanna Zellers, and of course Sabré.

W Series drivers were selected purely on their ability and the series’ cars are mechanically identical, which means that W Series races and championships will be won by the most talented drivers, rather than those with the wealthiest backers. Sort of brings Tony Stewart’s new SRX Series to mind.

Twenty-eight (28) drivers advanced to the second round of testing. Sabré Cook, Natalie Decker, and Shea Holbrook represented the United States in this next round. Their panel of judges included W Series directors David Coulthard and Dave Ryan as well as former Indycar driver Lyn St James.

2019 W Series' Drivers
2019 W Series Drivers

In March of 2019, the eighteen (18)-driver was announced and included Americans Sabré Cook and Shea Holbrook. Sabré finished the 2019 season twelfth in the points. Not too bad when you consider she had never raced on any of the W Series tracks in the past.

The top 12 finishers in the 2019 Season were automatically guaranteed a place on the grid for next season, while any driver outside of the top 12 cut-off needed to enter the selection process again if they wished to return. While Sabré was in, American Shea Holbrook was not on the 2020 Driver’s List. Of course, like most things last year, the 2020 W Series season was sidelined due to Covid.

Nevertheless, Ms. Cook remained terribly busy last year. She put her engineering degree to good use in Texas, helping Formula Mazda design their new FMzR. The FMzR will be the ideal transition from kart racing to open wheel cars. It is expected to debut later this year.

While the project was fulfilling and exciting; Ms. Cook was ready and prepared for the 2021 racing series to begin. Sabré has run three races in the six race 2021 season.

How has the season been going . . . . this writer will let Sabré's Instagram Feed tell that chapter of the story.

Moved forward in the race yesterday but unfortunately at @silverstonecircuit it becomes a bit follow-the-leader. 🙃

P14 for the race in the end 🏁 Obviously not satisfied with the result, but race pace is always good. I’m very conscious of the areas that need improving and I’m working hard toward the next race in Budapest to increase performance.

Amazing to see all the fans here, thank you guys for coming out! 👏🏼 Of course a big thank you to @wseriesracing and @thebunker for this opportunity. 💜 (Sabré Cook)

Brad Keselowski Goes to Roush Fenway Racing

Brad Keselowski Goes to Roush Fenway Racing 2021

Full-Time Driver and Minority Owner

Brad Keselowski Goes to Roush Fenway Racing 2021

Roush Fenway Racing and NASCAR Champion Brad Keselowski have announced a partnership beginning in 2022 in which Keselowski will assume an ownership role and serve as head of the team’s competition committee, while also piloting the team’s flagship No. 6 Ford Mustang. The partnership pairs one of the most successful organizations in NASCAR history with a perennial NASCAR contender and Champion.

“I’m truly excited about this partnership with Brad,” said Roush. “I think it will bring a lot to the organization, from not only Brad’s ability behind the wheel, but a rejuvenation and fresh perspective across our teams. I’ve had the opportunity to watch Brad for a number of years, as he has fought and clawed his way up the ladder, molding himself into a champion and one of the top drivers in our sport. I’ve always admired his resolve and determination. I’m very pleased that he has chosen to be a part of our organization and I’m proud to partner with him moving into the future.”

Roush founded the team in 1988 and it has since become one of the most successful racing operations in the world, propelling him to be the first NASCAR owner to amass three hundred wins and capturing eight championships, including back-to-back NASCAR Cup titles in 2003 and 2004.

“We are thrilled to have Brad on board. In the short amount of time that we’ve been around him, you can see some of the same traits in Brad that are the common blend with both Jack Roush and John Henry,” said Fenway Sports Group executive vice president, corporate strategy and general counsel Ed Weiss. “Brad has a relentless desire to compete and win and that fits in perfectly with our core objectives across all of the properties at Fenway Sports Group.”

Keselowski has been a consistent contender at NASCAR’s highest level for the past decade, having tallied 35 wins in NASCAR Cup Series competition while qualifying for the NASCAR Playoffs for 10 consecutive seasons. He led Team Penske to its first NASCAR Cup Series Championship in 2012 and has finished inside the top 10 in eight of the last 10 seasons, including a runner-up finish in 2020. Overall, Keselowski boasts 75 NASCAR wins and has led more than 14,000 laps.

“I am thrilled to be able to share the news about this next venture with my fans, peers, and the industry,” said Keselowski. “This presents an opportunity to continue my on-track success with a strong team and a long-term commitment, but also dive into my passion of team ownership where I know I can be an asset to the future of the team. I am optimistic about what Jack, John and I can accomplish together, especially with a new era for our sport on the horizon (with the Next Gen car). Our goal is to win races and compete for championships at NASCAR’s top level, and we plan to do just that.”

Considered a pioneer in driver development, Roush initially teamed with future Hall of Famer Mark Martin, forming what would grow into one of the most formidable duos in NASCAR history. In addition, he was responsible for launching the careers of NASCAR Champions Matt Kenseth, Greg Biffle, Kurt Busch, Carl Edwards, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Chris Buescher and many others. Currently Roush’s Fords have driven to victory lane on 325 occasions, while leading over 68,000 laps in NASCAR action.

As an owner, Keselowski finished runner up in the NASCAR Truck Series twice while consistently fielding championship-contending entries and helping to launch the careers of some of the sport’s most formidable rising stars such as Ryan Blaney, Ross Chastain, Tyler Reddick, Daniel Hemric, Chase Briscoe and Austin Cindric.

This marks the second major ownership addition to the team since its inception. Roush partnered with Fenway Sports Group owner John Henry, who also owns Major League Baseball’s Boston Red Sox and English Premier League’s Liverpool F.C., in 2007 to form Roush Fenway Racing. Tom Werner, Mike Gordon, Lebron James and Maverick Carter are also key partners in the Fenway Sports Group.

The team will provide additional details on driver lineup, partners and other team assets at a later date.

Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America Announces Mini Ride for Fall 2021

Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America Announces Mini Ride for Fall 2021

Kyle Petty will host a three-day “Charity Ride Revival” in Virginia, reuniting riders for scenic riding after more than two years apart due to the COVID-19 pandemic

Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America Announces Mini Ride for Fall 2021

This fall, Kyle Petty will host the “Charity Ride Revival (CRR),” a one-time only, miniature version of his annual Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America. The CRR was created in response to postponing the larger Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America until Spring 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Differing from the annual Ride, the CRR will be half the time, half the size and based at one single hotel – The Omni Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, Virginia. It will also only include previous participants of the Ride. These are precautions put in place by the Ride to protect the safety of participating riders and team members. From September 21 – 23, 2021, the CRR will travel a different route each day to a unique point of interest for riders to explore and enjoy before returning to the hotel. The CRR will act as a reunion for past riders to gather again for riding and fellowship after being apart for more than two years due to the coronavirus.

Kyle Petty’s 2021 Charity Ride Revival Schedule:
  • • Day 1, Tuesday, September 21 – National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, Virginia
  • • Day 2, Wednesday, September 22 – Seneca Rocks in Seneca Rocks, West Virginia
  • • Day 3, Thursday, September 23 – New River Gorge National Park and Preserve in West Virginia

“With the COVID-19 vaccine rollout and restrictions being lifted, we wanted to do something to get our riders back together again in a safe way; thus, the Charity Ride Revival was created as a way to do just that,” said Kyle Petty, former NASCAR driver, current NBC Sports racing analyst and founder of the Ride.

“The word ‘revival’ means to bring something back to life, and in our case, it means to reactivate after being dormant for more than two years. And I, for one, am more than ready to get back out there, riding motorcycles with friends in a beautiful setting all for a great cause!”

The CRR will continue the Ride’s mission of raising funds and awareness for Victory Junction – a camp dedicated to providing life-changing camping experiences for children with chronic and serious medical illnesses. Victory Junction has served as the Ride’s primary beneficiary since its establishment by Petty and his family in 2004 in honor of his late son, Adam. To date, the Ride has raised more than $19 million for Victory Junction and other children’s charities.

Aric Almirola Shakes Up #NASCAR Cup Playoff Standings With Unexpected Win at New Hampshire

Aric Almirola Shakes Up #NASCAR Cup Playoff Standings With Unexpected Win at New Hampshire

With a stunning victory in Sunday’s Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Aric Almirola sent shock waves through the NASCAR Cup Series’ Playoff standings.

With hard-charging Christopher Bell closing behind him, Almirola crossed the finish line at the 1.058-mile track .657 seconds ahead of the Joe Gibbs Racing driver to win the third race of his career and give Stewart-Haas Racing its first ostensible Playoff berth of the 2021 campaign.

“This is by far one of my favorite race tracks,” an elated Almirola said after taking the checkered flag. “I love coming up to the New England area and racing. I love this race track. I had this race won a couple of years ago, and I gave it away—I lost it. And I am so glad to win a race here with this race team.

“It’s so good, man. We’ve been through so much, and I just stood the test. Everybody has just been working so hard… There’ve been so many people who have continued to support us through the crappiest year ever. Man, this feels so good for them. My pit crew did a phenomenal job on pit road. There’s no doubt we’ve struggled, but guess what? We’re going Playoff racing.”

NASCAR Xfinity

Christopher Bell Wins Third Straight Xfinity Race at New Hampshire

Christopher Bell Wins Third Straight Xfinity Race at New Hampshire

Kyle Busch had used up his eligibility for this year in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Ty Gibbs had the week off. But the No. 54 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota they have driven to a combined seven victories this season was still around—much to the chagrin of the series regulars.

Competing in the Xfinity Series for the first time since he finished third in the final standings in 2019, Christopher Bell led 151 of 200 laps, swept the first two stages and won Saturday’s Ambetter Get Vaccinated 200 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

The victory was Bell’s third straight at the 1.058-mile track and the 17th of his career. It was the sixth straight win for Joe Gibbs Racing at New Hampshire, which did not host an Xfinity Series race last year because of schedule changes necessitated by the coronavirus pandemic.

“What I’ve got figured out is I’ve got really, really fast race cars to drive,” said Bell, who started 14th and took the lead for the first time on Lap 44—one circuit before the end of the first stage. “I just love being here with Joe Gibbs Racing. All these Supras I’ve for the last three times I’ve been here have been amazing.

“Hopefully, the Camry is just a good tomorrow (in the NASCAR Cup Series race), but it just feels good to win.”

Daniel Dye Wins First ARCA Menards Series Race in Dominating Fashion

Daniel Dye Wins First ARCA Menards Series Race in Dominating Fashion

The Ty Gibbs and Corey Heim party of 2021 in the ARCA Menards Series ended Saturday night at Berlin Raceway.

Daniel Dye became the series’ third winner in the 10th race of the season. And he did so in dominating fashion. The 17-year-old rookie started on the General Tire Pole and led all but two laps of the Zinsser SmartCoat 200 for his first victory in just his second ARCA Menards Series start.

Heim and Gibbs, who rank first and second in championship points, respectively, had won all nine races in the series this year prior to the GMS Racing driver’s triumph on the 7/16-mile paved oval.

Chase Elliott Wins Camping World SRX Season Finale

Chase Elliott Wins Camping World SRX Season Finale

Reigning NASCAR Cup Series champion Chase Elliott held off three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Tony Stewart to take the victory in the Camping World SRX Series season finale Saturday night at the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway.

Elliott crossed the stripe .439 of a second ahead of Stewart after battling his father, Bill, for much of the 77-lap race around the .596-mile oval in Music City.

“I had a ball. I got to race against two of my heroes,” Chase said. “I got to race against Dad there throughout the race and those are moments I will cherish forever. Just super thankful to be here.”

“Man, I tell you what, it was a lot of fun. I knew the way the tires were on these cars and the way Chase manages his stuff, he was going to be hard to beat. I know he didn’t have the best car, but he knows how to get it to the end.” Bragged proud father, Bill Elliott
