Drivers & Cameraman Escape Injury
Following Race Three Crash

Nobody was hurt in the huge start-line crash that marred the beginning of race three of the British Touring Car Championship at Snetterton.

Drivers & Cameraman Escape Injury Following Race Three Crash

The final encounter of the British Touring Car Championship this weekend around the Norfolk venue was red-flagged immediately after the start after Hunter Abbott rolled following contact with Mark Howard, subsequently hitting the ITV4 tower and toppling it.

Initial contact between Alex Martin and Howard start the incident before Abbott and then Ollie Jackson arrived on the scene and made contact as well.

“Drivers are all fine and we sent the cameraman to the medical center,” a member of the medical team reported.

Broadcaster ITV reported that the cameraman was "shocked but OK."

Abbott exclaimed “I’m fine. I’m not exactly sure what happened. Alex Martin and Howard came together, I went to the left to avoid it and ran out of track. I hit a car and that’s what started the rolls off. I didn’t know I clipped a camera post, so I was quite worried, but I’m told he’s OK.”

Unsurprisingly, Views Differed On The Cause.

“I was on the outside and Dan was just forcing me wide onto the grass,” Jackson explained. “He could have given me room but we made contact side-by-side and then the next thing I knew, I got a hit in the rear and spun across in front of Abbott and into the barriers. It could have been avoided.”

“I made the move on Ollie onto the back straight and he ran wide, and then he came back on and hit my car,” Welch countered. “I think the suspension broke as the car suddenly turned left and I had no control over it. I was just sat in the middle of the circuit and it was a big hit from Sutton; there was nothing he could do. The whole thing was completely unnecessary and my car is destroyed.”

Whilst Sutton insisted he saw nothing through the dust kicked up in front before suddenly coming across the stationary Proton in front of him, Abbott admitted it was hard to apportion blame from his perspective.

“Dan and Ollie were side-by-side and Dan was squeezing Ollie out onto the grass and Ollie didn’t want to give up the position,” Abbott reported. “When they made contact I had to make a decision over which way to go and went to the right, but then Ollie came spinning back across me and there was just nowhere for me to go.”

Luckily it has been reported that all involved were not injured. The Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship is the UK's biggest car racing championship, and stars highly-modified saloons and hatchbacks similar to those seen on their nation's roads.

William Byron – The Dominance Continues (#nascar)

Camping World Truck Series Rookie Races to Fifth 2016 Win.

William Byron – The Dominance Continues (#nascar)
With his fifth win today, eighteen-year-old Byron has left his mark and broken records in his rookie year.

His win at Kentucky, earlier this month, marked the 51st win for Kyle Busch Motorsports, the most for any Camping World Truck Series team in series history. He also matched Kurt Busch's 2000 record in the Truck Series for the most wins in one season by a rookie with four trips to Victory Lane.

William Byron’s commanding win from pole in today’s ‘Pocono Mountains 150’ set a new NASCAR record for Rookie Wins in the truck series. With eleven races remaining in the 2016 season, NASCAR Race Mom predicts that Byron will capture a few more wins to advance that record tally – the boy can drive.

William Byron – The Dominance Continues (#nascar)

If you are not familiar with William Byron; here is a short bio:

Byron about captured the 2015 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Championship and Rookie of the Year honors after producing four wins, three poles, 740 laps led, five top-five and 11 top-10 finishes across 14 starts. He took the lead in the championship standings after the third race of the season and held the top spot for the remainder of the year. He also collected one top-five finish and one pole while competing in two ARCA Racing Series events, finished in the top five of both of his NASCAR K&N Pro Series West starts, earned one win and three top-five finishes in three CARS Super Late Model Tour races and capped off his season by qualifying fifth for his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut at Phoenix (Ariz.) International Raceway.

ARCA Racing Series Scary Pit Road Moment
At Pocono Raceway

Tire Changer and Jackman Injured

#ARCA Racing Series Scary Pit Road Moment At Pocono Raceway
No Bueno Jon House (@jonhouse233)
tweeted twenty hours ago.

Under the second caution of yesterday’s ARCA Racing Series event at Pocono Raceway, the #98 GREE Cooling Products Chevrolet suffered a brake line failure. Driver Gus Dean overshot his pit stall and spun around on pit road, hitting one of his Tire Changers and his Jackman.

Luckily, tire changer, Pedro Martinez, was able to get back up to his feet quickly. Unfortunately, jackman Jon House was not as fortunate. He stayed down for several minutes, and only got up after the medical crew had fitted him with a neck brace and helped him back up.

House was transported from the track for further evaluation. Martinez was checked and released from the infield care center.

Let's All Send Jon House our well wishes!!!

Go Green - It's not that Tricky (#nascar)

What is Pocono Raceway Green?

Pocono Raceway has become one of the most environmentally conscious tracks in NASCAR and the entire sports world. These steps will benefit the local environment, keeping it cleaner and making it more attractive for the year-round community and the thousands of fans who come together for our events every year.

The main attributes to
Pocono Raceway Green are:

Pocono Solar Project

In August of 2010 the 3MW Pocono Solar Project came online after just 3 months of construction. Consisting of nearly 40,000 American made photovoltaic modules covering 25 acres, the project has produced over 18 Million Kilowatt hours to date and was originally projected to produce more than 72 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of energy over the first  20 years. The environmental attributes associated with the system will offset more than 2,300 Metric Tons of carbon dioxide annually, Carbon Dioxide emissions from 106,529 propane BBQ grills and it will generate enough power to provide the electricity needs for close to 300 homes beyond the power needs of the Raceway.  Pocono Raceway is able to run 100% of the facility with the power produced as well as offset all the additional power needs required by NASCAR during an event.  During the summer months, the Raceway employees approximately 50 sheep to help keep the grass cut within the confines of the solar project. Pocono Solar Project Real Time Data

Recycling

To further assist the track’s recycling efforts , Coca-Cola and Anheuser-Busch have also contributed recycling bins to the track in hopes of reducing the amount of recyclables that are being thrown in the trash. All Pocono Recycling is done through Waste Management’s Single-Stream recycling system.

NASCAR Clean Air Tree Planting Program

As part of the program, 10 trees will be planted for every green flag that drops during future NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events. This will help reduce the carbon footprint of the sport and bring conservation awareness to NASCAR fans.

  2. 100 & 200-Level Sunday Grandstand tickets for Kids, ages 12 and under, are half price!
  3. Tricky’s Kit Kamp is located behind the Grandstands and is open for free play during our major race weekends.
  4. SECRET: Tricky gives out free Hero Cards; just ask him!

  9. Kids Day Powered by Pocono Medical Center will be held on Friday, July 29. Over 30 vendors are in attendance with free goodies and more often than not, autograph sessions are held.
  10. Scout Day will be held on Friday, July 29. Scouts and Leaders in attendance receive a souvenir program, die-cast car, and exclusive Scout Day Patch for only $10!
  11. Parents: Coolers are welcome. Feel free to bring a healthy snack and drink for your Kids! We’ll take care of the treats!

#NASCAR Throwback Thursday

Watch the video below as eleven-year-old Chase Elliott explains his weighted outlook. Chase is also show interviewing drivers he is now competing against, soon-to-retire Tony “Smoke” Stewart, and six-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Jimmie Johnson.

Chase Elliott continues to impress. In the Sprint Cup Series this year, he can boast of two poles, six top-five and eleven top-ten finishes. The twenty-year-old also earned a win in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

Amazing, the young rookie is currently eleventh in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Driver Points, between Jimmie Johnson who sits eights and Smoke, who after missing eight races is in twenty-seventh.

#NASCAR Announces Race Start Times
for 2017 Season

Seventeen National Series Events Move Closer to Primetime

#NASCAR Announces Race Start Times for 2017 Season

NASCAR, along with FOX Sports and NBC Sports, today announced 2017 race start times and network coverage for the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR XFINITY Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series – based on the previously released schedule dates. Through collaborative efforts with its broadcast partners, race teams and tracks, NASCAR was able to finalize full 2017 start times for all three national series almost six months earlier than in recent seasons.

Seventeen national series events will start closer to primetime, helping to bring NASCAR’s photo finishes and close, side-by-side racing to larger audiences. Seventeen NASCAR Cup Series points races will air on broadcast television next year, including the DAYTONA 500 and Coca-Cola 600 on FOX; and the Brickyard 400 and the NASCAR Cup Series championship race, the Ford EcoBoost 400 from Homestead-Miami Speedway, on NBC.

“It’s our responsibility, collectively as an industry, to ensure the sport is healthy, strong and growing by delivering great racing in a way that best meets the needs of our fans,” said Steve Herbst, senior vice president, broadcasting and production at NASCAR. “Earlier insight on start times benefits not only fans, but also our teams and tracks, as it provides more opportunities to plan travel and to purchase race tickets.”

Since the initial release of the 2017 schedule, NASCAR and its partners have shifted two dates for the NASCAR XFINITY Series and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. The NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Road America will move to Sunday, August 27, on NBC. The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park will now take place on Sunday, September 3, airing on FS1 prior to the NASCAR Cup Series event at Darlington Raceway on NBCSN.

Looking ahead to the 2018 season, the DAYTONA 500 will move to Sunday, February 18, during Presidents Day weekend. NASCAR and its partners are working collaboratively on the remainder of the 2018 schedule, which will be finalized and released at a later date.

In addition to watching the live broadcast, fans can catch all the on-track action by visiting NASCAR.com, downloading the NASCAR Mobile app or live streaming on FOX Sports Go and the NBC Sports app. Fans can also listen to Motor Racing Network (MRN), Performance Racing Network (PRN), IMS Radio Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90, throughout the season.
