Joey Logano Clinches Championship 4 Berth
Joey Logano battled his way back to the front of the field in the final laps, then capitalized on his fresher tires and passed Ross Chastain in the closing laps to win Sunday’s Round of 8 opener at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
“Man, what a great car,” Logano said. “Penske cars were all fast. All of them were really fast today. Oh, man, all you want to do is get to the Championship Four when the season starts and race for a championship, and we’ve got the team to do it. I don’t see why we can’t win at this point.
“Racing Ross was fun. He was doing a good job air-blocking me, and I was just trying to be patient, and eventually, I was like, ‘I’ve got to go here.’ Just great to win out here in Vegas again, and it means so much getting to the championship.”
The win cements Logano into his fifth Championship 4 appearance.

Josh Berry Punches Ticket to Championship 4
Josh Berry’s resume would indicate he’s a top-shelf short track racer, but the JR Motorsports driver may need to expand that profile. Berry’s No. 8 JR Motorsports Chevrolet led a commanding 65 laps en route to the win in the Alsco Uniforms 302 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Saturday — his second victory in the last three races on the high-banked 1.5-miler.
Berry took the lead from AJ Allmendinger with 34 laps remaining — the pair racing hard side-by-side at the front of the field on a late race restart. Berry even got shoved into the outside wall before recovering and moving into the lead for his fifth career win.
With Berry’s win and automatic berth into the Championship 4, Gragson now leads the standings by 19 points over Gibbs and 29 points ahead of Allgaier.
“I was a little bit tight off (Turn) 4 the whole time, and [Allmendinger] left me a lane but nothing extra, but I wasn’t letting off,” said Berry, who hadn’t led a lap in the last six races. “That was for a trip to Phoenix and I was willing to hit the wall or whatever. We’ve had a tough couple weeks or months, but we knew we could do this if we were at our best.
“Had a caution with 30 to go and was able to wrestle the lead away from those guys and build enough of a [points] gap to keep it,” Berry said. “I tell you, I’m just speechless.”

Taylor Gray hits Jackpot with Dominant Victory
Even with one of the largest fields in recent ARCA Menards Series West history on hand at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Friday, nobody could touch Taylor Gray.
From the opening green flag, Gray faced little resistance from his competition and claimed a wire-to-wire victory in the penultimate event on the 2022 ARCA West calendar, which was his fifth in the series and eighth across all three ARCA divisions.
The only obstacles Gray faced came during the numerous restarts in Friday’s Star Nursery 150, but he knew the car prepared by David Gilliland Racing would be strong enough to maintain control of the top spot.
“Landen [Lewis] gave me a little bit of a hard time on those restarts,” Gray said. “All props to my guys who work so hard at the shop. They work their butts off every week so we can come out and do things like this. It was a good race car and a good day.”
We’re in the business of making memories - and this lil’ guy just made one he’ll never forget! 🏁 pic.twitter.com/RlsYmr5YPm
