Polar Prix Wrap-up - Moses Smith Formula Mazda

Polar Prix Wrap-up - Moses Smith Formula Mazda
I know it is not NASCAR, however, Moses Smith (my son) competed in the K&N Pro Series West from 2006 to 2011.  He left the series to concentrate on his new role as the owner of Texas Autosports, a full service Formula Mazda Race Car Prep Shop located at Motorsport Ranch in Cresson, TX.

Here is an article posted by racer.com. Of course as a proud Mom - I had to share.

Polar Prix Wrap-up - Moses Smith Formula Mazda

Racing in SCCA's Southern Conference gets off to a hot start at Texas World Speedway with 9 class wins by Mazda drivers on Saturday and 8 on Sunday. Congratulations Mazda racers!

It was a weekend of great racing at Texas World Speedway in College Station, Texas, for the Texas Region SCCA Polar Prix U.S. Majors Tour. The event featured exciting racing amongst some of the best drivers in SCCA's Southern Conference.

Moses Smith, driver of the No. 77 American Medical Response Formula Mazda had back-to-back wins in FM.

"It was exciting to see the 10-car field in Formula Mazda," Smith says. "Qualifying was so close, even with several new drivers."

Smith qualified on the FM pole both days and led flag to flag. Despite a relatively smooth race for the winner, there were multiple battles behind him.

"On Saturday, I think the closest race was for second and third position," Smith recalls. "Sunday's qualifying had me pumped since we put our AMR car on the pole, ahead of the Atlantic and P1s. I was ready to go racing and had a great fight at the start."

**INTERESTING NOTE:  There has never been an SCCA Race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.  That is until 2017.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course will be the site of the 2017 SCCA National Championship Runoffs, with race days September 28 through October 1. The event is unprecedented for both the Club and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, pitting the amateur National Championship event on the 14 turn, 2.439-mile road course that hosts the Verizon IndyCar Series’ Indycar Grand Prix.
