Parker area residents had a chance to sample the wares of a dozen local eating establishments at the second annual “Taste of Parker” event held March 6 at the Joshua Street Mall. The event was a fundraiser for the Colorado River Regional Crisis Services. CRRCS President Deniese Perez said approximately $4,000 was raised for the shelter.
Perez estimated the size of the crowd at 250 persons.
Of the 12 establishments represented, event patrons chose Lucky’s BBQ as having the best food, with a three-way tie for second place between Lily’s Mexican Food, Roadrunner and the River’s Edge Cantina.
Pizza Hut was voted as having the best team spirit, Fox’s had the best decorations and Tommy’s Paradise Bar & Grill was voted as having the best theme.
Other participating establishments included Papa Nick’s Pizza, Wal-Mart’s Deli, The Bar, Sandra’s Creations, Gifts & More and the Soroptimist Diva Bar.
At a special presentation held near the close of the event, Perez offered a special certificate of recognition to the main sponsor of the event, Gene Price of Gene Price Motorsports.
Other sponsors included River Septic, The Bar, and ChaBones of Lake Havasu City.
Perez said she also thanked the businesses of the Joshua Street Mall for letting the event impose on them for the evening.
The mission of the Board and Staff of the Colorado River Regional Crisis Shelter is empowering individuals and their families to live a life free from domestic violence, by providing protection, education and resources.
After just three full-time years in the K&N Pro Series West, Gene Price Motorsports won the 2011 NASCAR K&N Pro West Series Championship with Greg Pursley. They accomplished a repeat performance in 2012 winning the NASCAR K&N Pro West Series Championship with Dylan Kwasniewski behind the wheel!
