Henry Repeating Arms Returns to Racing for Darlington Throwback Weekend

Henry Repeating Arms Returns to Racing for Darlington Throwback Weekend
Henry Repeating Arms Returns to Racing for Darlington Throwback Weekend

A classic race serves as the perfect backdrop for Henry Repeating Arms with the American manufacturer of classic rifles and shotguns kicking off its third season of partnership with Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) on May 8 in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Darlington Raceway.

Henry Repeating Arms Returns to Racing for Darlington Throwback Weekend
On Saturday of the Official Throwback Weekend of NASCAR, Henry Repeating Arms will be the primary sponsor of driver Riley Herbst and his No. 98 Ford Mustang with a throwback paint scheme that pays tribute to SHR co-owner Tony Stewart.

Stewart is a member of the NASCAR Hall of Fame. He earned three NASCAR Cup Series championships and won 69 races across the Cup, Xfinity and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. The first three of those victories came in 1999 when Stewart was a Cup Series rookie. The paint scheme Herbst will run at Darlington mimics the design of Stewart’s orange-and-white car during that incredible season where Stewart finished fourth in the championship and ran away with the rookie-of-the-year title.

“I can’t wait to drive this throwback scheme for Henry Repeating Arms at Darlington,” said the 22-year-old Herbst, who was born 10 days after Stewart made his Cup Series debut in the 41st Daytona 500. “Tony had a lot of success with this design during his rookie season and if just a little bit of that success can rub off on us, we’ll take it. Darlington is a tough track where any little bit helps.”

“We can’t wait to see what this young gun can do behind the wheel of the Henry Repeating Arms Ford with the full support of the Henry family cheering him on,” said Anthony Imperato, President and Owner, Henry Repeating Arms. “For the fans of our firearms or motorsports fans in general, this is going to be an exciting weekend for all of us.”

Darlington opened in 1950 and is considered NASCAR’s first superspeedway. The venerable track is in its 72nd season, but it’s a lineage that pales in comparison to that of Henry Repeating Arms. The company is named in honor of Benjamin Tyler Henry who invented and patented the Henry rifle in 1860 – the first repeating, lever-action rifle – which is America’s unique contribution to international firearms design and is one of the most legendary, respected and sought after rifles in the history of firearms.

The Xfinity Series race at Darlington begins at 1 p.m. EDT with live coverage on FS1 and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

The NASCAR Foundation Partners with Martinsville Speedway for Third-Annual Speediatrics Fun Day Festival

The NASCAR Foundation Partners with Martinsville Speedway for Third-Annual Speediatrics Fun Day Festival

On Friday, April 9th, The NASCAR Foundation partnered with Martinsville Speedway to host its third-annual Speediatrics Fun Day Festival with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Blue Ridge, providing special programming for children at its Uptown and Center Club sites.

This NASCAR-themed Speediatrics Fun Day Festival is the culminating event after a 2-week program designed to inspire more than 100 children to lead a healthy lifestyle. In addition to learning about healthy living habits through the lens of NASCAR, children participated in NASCAR-themed field day activities such as a Goodyear Tire Race, Champ’s Looking for Lug Nuts, Chase’s Sponge Relay, Safety Sam’s Stop & Go Relay and Pit Stop Pete’s Puzzling Placement to encourage them to stay active while having fun.

“We love partnering with Martinsville Speedway in this community and we couldn’t think of a more impactful way to reach area children than supporting the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Blue Ridge,” said Nichole Krieger, The NASCAR Foundation Executive Director. “Our Speediatrics Fun Day Festivals are really such a fun way for us to connect with children and help communicate the importance of their overall health and wellness.”

The festival is one of eight events to be held in race markets across the country as part of The NASCAR Foundation’s Speediatrics Children’s Fund, a program that supports needs expressed by hospitals, specialty clinics, camps, and others providing children’s medical and healthcare services.

As part of the two-week programming provided, students attending Boys & Girls Clubs of the Blue Ridge participated in a video call on April 6 with Martinsville Speedway President Clay Campbell and NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Jeb Burton. On Thursday, the Martinsville Speedway pace car was on display at the club locations and the children decorated a welcome banner that will be displayed at the speedway this weekend during the Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 500 NASCAR Cup Series race.

“Thank you to The NASCAR Foundation for once again bringing its Speediatrics Fun Day Festival to the Martinsville area,” said Martinsville Speedway President Clay Campbell. “It is so much fun working with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Blue Ridge and spending time with the next generation of NASCAR fans.”

In the days following the event, the kids will participate in a step challenge using pedometer watches from The NASCAR Foundation’s Speediatrics Fit Kits made possible by a generous donation from the Harvest Youth Board. The NASCAR Foundation will also provide a financial grant to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Blue Ridge to further fund their efforts for kids.

Talladega Triple Header #NASCAR Race Recap

Talladega Triple Header #NASCAR Race Recap

Saving the Best for Last: Keselowski Surges to Lead on Final Lap to Win GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway

Keselowski Surges to Lead on Final Lap to Win GEICO 500

With His Only Lap Led All Day, Team Penske Driver Joins Gordon, Earnhardt, Jr., as Six-Time Winners at NASCAR’s, Biggest, Baddest & Most Competitive Track

Despite sustaining damage in an early wreck, and despite leading only one lap in Sunday’s GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, Brad Keselowski nailed down an opportunistic overtime victory in the 10th event of the NASCAR Cup Series season.

Surging to the front on the final lap, after fellow Ford driver Matt DiBenedetto abandoned the bottom lane and gave Keselowski a clear run to the front, Keselowski claimed his first victory of the season, the 35th of his career and his sixth at Talladega, tying Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr. for second-most all-time at the 2.66-mile track (Dale Earnhardt, Sr. leads in track wins with 10).

As the ninth different winner this season, Keselowski joined Team Penske teammates Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney on the 2021 victory list.

Keselowski said he thought “Merry Christmas!” to himself when the bottom lane opened up on the final lap.

“The whole race, I had a couple of opportunities to take the lead, but I just kept thinking, ‘Man, just keep your car in one piece till the end.’ We’ve been so close here, and it just didn’t seem to want to come together here the last few years, and I’ve been on kind of a four-year drought here, but it’s nice to get number six.

“I would have never dreamed I’d tie Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr. here. That’s something. Those guys are really legends. I’m just really proud of my team. We had an accident there early, and they recovered and got it fixed up to where I could keep running. My crew chief, Jeremy Bullins, had a lot of confidence.

“I told him (before pitting on Lap 173 of a scheduled 188), ‘I want to come in and put four tires on this thing,’ and he said, ‘Yep, go ahead.’ And that really helped a bunch at the end.”

Jeb Burton Captures First Career NASCAR Xfinity Series Triumph

After Nearly Eight Years of Frustration, the Son of Former NASCAR Cup Series Driver and 2002 DAYTONA 500 Champion, Ward Burton, Takes Home the Trophy

Jeb Burton Captures First Career NASCAR Xfinity Series Triumph

A thunderstorm pelted Talladega Superspeedway at just the right time for Jeb Burton.

After a seven-car wreck on the backstretch, Burton held the lead under caution when the rain intensified. After NASCAR brought the Xfinity Series cars to pit road, the clouds opened and made a first-time winner of the driver of the No. 10 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet.

Burton’s win in Saturday’s Ag-Pro 300 was the third straight at Talladega for Kaulig Racing, which swept last year’s two events with driver Justin Haley.

“Unbelievable, man,” said Burton, son of 2002 Daytona 500 winner Ward Burton. “It’s been a tough road to get to this point. Just an unbelievable race team. Today we had Mother Nature on our side, but we had a fast car anyway. We ran up front all day…

“We’ve been building and building and building, and I feel like I’ve kind of been the weak link the last couple of races, and I need to clean some things up. Just the momentum—that’s what I needed… I want to win races. I told them (Kaulig Racing) that I wanted to come there and hang banners.”

Making History: Heim Wins General Tire 200 at Talladega Superspeedway

Corey Heim Wins General Tire 200 at Talladega Superspeedway

Over the last three decades, just one driver has won both the ARCA Menards Series season-opening race at Daytona International Speedway and the series’ event at Talladega Superspeedway in the same season.

Thanks to Corey Heim Saturday, make it two drivers.

The 18-year-old Heim drove his No. 20 JBL Toyota to Victory Lane at Talladega in the General Tire 200. It was the Marietta, Georgia, driver’s second win of the year, following his triumph in the season-opening event at Daytona. He joined David Keith (2000) as the only driver to sweep the two races in a single season since 1992.

Saturday’s race came down to a sprint on a one-lap restart following a late caution. Heim restarted third with local favorite – Munford, AL’s Bret Holmes – and Nick Sanchez leading the field to the final green flag. Heim’s Venturini Motorsports teammate, Drew Dollar, immediately ditched the top lane to fall in line behind the No. 20.

And the same teamwork that pushed Heim to the win at Daytona did it again at Talladega.

Boys & Girls Clubs of America Announced as Official Youth Community Partner of NASCAR

Boys & Girls Clubs of America Announced as Official Youth Community Partner of NASCAR

NASCAR and Boys & Girls Clubs of America announced a multiyear partnership Sunday that will support the nonprofit’s mission of enabling and enriching the lives of young people. As the Official Youth Community Partner of NASCAR, Boys & Girls Clubs of America will work with NASCAR and industry stakeholders to engage more than 4.6 million youth and teens across the country with NASCAR content and experiences.

The nationwide partnership will focus on three core areas — STEM education, career development and diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) initiatives — and extend across all NASCAR platforms and race tracks. Programming will include both virtual and at-track experiences with an emphasis on local Boys & Girls Club locations within NASCAR race markets.

Partnership efforts will build on the continuing work of The NASCAR Foundation to advance children’s well-being, including ongoing relationships with several Boys & Girls Clubs across the country.

“As a community leader, Boys & Girls Clubs of America continues to have immeasurable impact on the lives of our country’s youth, and NASCAR looks forward to engaging those efforts in meaningful ways,” said Steve Phelps, president of NASCAR. “Through this partnership and together with the NASCAR industry, we have boundless opportunities to advance the mission and objectives of Boys & Girls Clubs of America while at the same time introducing young future fans to our great sport.”

Said Boys & Girls Clubs of America president and CEO Jim Clark: “Kids and teens need safe places and caring mentors now more than ever, and local Boys & Girls Clubs around the country are doing whatever it takes to empower youth and build new opportunities so they can achieve every success in life. We are very excited to partner with NASCAR to elevate this support in communities even further, enabling more high-quality programing and experiences that will have a positive impact on kids and teens.”

As young people continue to emerge from the pandemic and navigate virtual learning, the first year of the partnership will focus on developing high-quality education programming that will live on MyFuture, Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s digital learning platform.

Additionally, NASCAR’s work with Boys & Girls Clubs of America will focus on career development and mentoring across a breadth of industry disciplines and will include engagement with industry executives and other employees.

Throughout the partnership, NASCAR will collaborate with drivers, teams and tracks to amplify the sport’s commitment to Boys & Girls Clubs of America and deepen the engagement with Club youth and teens. NASCAR partners will also have the opportunity to integrate with the new partnership, and several partners will look to build on their own longstanding relationships with Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

Eric Shanks, CEO and executive producer of FOX Sports, and Mark Lazarus, chairman of NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, are both members of the non-profit’s Board of Governors. Shanks attended Boys & Girls Clubs as a youth and is now a member of the Boys & Girls Clubs Alumni Hall of Fame. Next month, Lazarus will serve as chair of Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Annual Conference.

NBCUniversal, parent company of NASCAR Premier Partner Xfinity, has partnered with Boys & Girls Clubs for nearly 20 years to drive digital equity. The company has opened WiFi-Connected Lift Zones at Boys & Girls Clubs across the country, including an upcoming Martinsville, Virginia, location to celebrate the NASCAR Xfinity Series Dash 4 Cash, to provide a safe space for students to access Internet for free to participate in distance learning and conduct schoolwork.

Coca-Cola is currently celebrating 75 years of partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America and is also represented on the non-profit’s Board of Governors. The NASCAR Premier Partner is also a founding sponsor of the non-profit’s Workforce Readiness Strategy, supporting essential skill development, career exploration, employability skills and credentialing, and work-based learning opportunities for young people at Clubs. Coca-Cola, NASCAR and Boys & Girls Clubs of America look forward to partnering.

Toyota’s partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America is focused on closing the opportunity gap for the nation’s youth and inspiring future innovators, problem solvers and leaders who will make a positive impact on the community.

Boys & Girls Clubs of America provides high-quality programming that helps level the playing field and provide opportunities to young people that will help them build the skills they need to become the leaders, innovators and problem-solvers who shape the world.

Mustang Mach-E Ready to Electrify NASCAR Fans at Talladega Superspeedway in Pace Car Debut

Mustang Mach-E Ready to Electrify NASCAR Fans at Talladega Superspeedway in Pace Car Debut
Mustang Mach-E Ready to Electrify NASCAR Fans at Talladega Superspeedway in Pace Car Debut

The Mustang Mach-E, Ford’s dynamic all-electric SUV, will be making its NASCAR debut this weekend when it serves as pace vehicle for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway.

This will mark the second time Ford has had an all-electric vehicle pace a NASCAR event. The first time came in 2012 when the manufacturer made NASCAR history by having its Focus electric perform all pace car duties for the Cup Series race at Richmond Raceway.

“We have always tried to use our presence in NASCAR to show off our dynamic and innovative vehicle lineup, and that continues this weekend with our all-electric Mustang Mach-E,” said Jeannee Kirkaldy, motorsports marketing manager, Ford Performance. “We feel this car not only stays true to Mustang’s great heritage but carries on its legacy in a modern way that we think fans and our loyal enthusiasts will embrace.”

The Mustang Mach-E has already made a strong impression in the marketplace, being named the North American Utility of the Year in January by an independent group of 50 print and broadcast automotive journalists from the United States and Canada as a first-time entrant.

“When I drove the Mustang Mach-E it was instant power and way better than I thought or expected,” said Matt DiBenedetto, driver of the No. 21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Mustang in the NASCAR Cup Series for Wood Brothers Racing. “It was something that I100 percent wanted to own for myself or my wife because when you hop in the car it’s nice and quiet, and the throttle response is so instant. It was a blast. It will make a great pace car.”

Team Penske’s Ryan Blaney has won two of the last three Cup Series events at Talladega and is the defending champion of this weekend’s 500-mile event. Overall, Ford has dominated in recent years at NASCAR’s biggest track, having won nine of the last 11 races, which includes a stretch of seven straight from 2015-18.

The Geico 500 is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. Eastern time and will be televised live on Fox.

The Mighty Vulcan Trophy Awaits Talladega Superspeedway’s GEICO 500 Winner

The Mighty Vulcan Trophy Awaits Talladega Superspeedway’s GEICO 500 Winner

130-pound Work of Art, along with the Hammer & Anvil Trophy, now a Tradition

The Mighty Vulcan Trophy Awaits Talladega Superspeedway’s GEICO 500 Winner

It stands more than 38 inches tall, weighs over 130 pounds, and is called the Vulcan Trophy. Talladega Superspeedway’s tradition (that started in fall of 2016) is a locally made piece and will be found in Victory Lane after the checkered flag falls on Sunday’s GEICO 500 NASCAR Cup Series race (1 p.m. CDT, FOX, MRN Radio and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).

The trophy is a hand-made, miniature version of the colossal Vulcan statue – a 56-foot tall structure fastened to a 124-foot platform that stands tall over the city of Birmingham, Alabama – just 45 minutes west of the race track. It is the largest cast-iron statue in the world and is the main attraction at Birmingham’s Vulcan Park Museum (www.visitvulcan.com).

Vulcan, which pays homage to the god of fire in Ancient Roman myth, has overlooked Alabama’s largest city from atop Red Mountain since the 1930s. Birmingham, founded in 1871, is unique because it contains coal, iron ore and limestone, the raw materials for making iron and steel. Three items are unique to Vulcan, who made weapons and armor for all the gods.

His hammer and anvil that he used in his forge (shop where metal is heated and hammered into useful items) and the spear, which is a piece of his completed work that he held high and admired. For the winners of Saturday’s doubleheader – the General Tire 200 for the ARCA Menards Series and the Ag-Pro 300 for the NASCAR Xfinity Series, they will receive the smaller Hammer & Anvil Trophy.

Each trophy is handcrafted by local artists from Sloss Furnaces in Birmingham, pouring hot iron into a created cast, then chiseled to perfection.

Team Penske driver Joey Logano was the inaugural recipient of the Vulcan Trophy after his triumph in the fall of 2016.

“I was pumped to be the first driver to win one,” Logano said. “Trophies are one of the best parts of what we do, and some of them are just cooler and more special because of what they are. Talladega Superspeedway nailed it when they had the Vulcan Trophy made.”

To create the Vulcan Trophy, sculptors start with an original wax pattern, and after it is created, a rubber mold is designed and then molded in sand. Hot, melted iron is then poured into the mold. After complete cooling, the iron pieces are removed from the sand mold. The last step is the finishing area. There, the statue is heated with torches to remove moisture from the iron. Finally, a wax finish is applied to the Vulcan, which cools down the piece before more wax and a clear coat is applied prior to it receiving a final brush up.

While the Vulcan and Birmingham are forever linked together, Talladega Superspeedway also has a longer history with the two dating back decades. In 1969, one month after the running of the first NASCAR Cup Series race at the 2.66-mile mammoth speedway, the ARCA series took the track in the Vulcan 500, and Jim Vandiver took the checkered flag. A year later, Ramo Stott was victorious in the Vulcan 500.

Now, more than 51 years later, the connection between TSS and Vulcan continues with the Vulcan Trophy. This incredible piece of history awaits the winner of the GEICO 500 at the biggest and baddest track on the planet, amid the cheers of adoring fans and under the watchful eye of the iconic Vulcan Trophy.

Here’s the “Tale of the Tape” for the Vulcan Trophy:

  • Weight: 130 pounds
  • Height: 39 inches (26 inches Vulcan, 13 inches base)
  • Base width: 14 inches
  • Spear length: 6 ½ inches
  • Anvil length: 5 ½ inches
  • Hammer length: 5 inches
  • Hammer back: 4 ½ inches
  • Foot size: 3 ¼ inches
  • Head: 3 ¾ tall, 2 ¾ wide
  • Thumb: ¾ inch
  • Toe: ½ inch

The GEICO 500 is set for a 1:00 p.m. CDT start on Sunday (April 25), but the action-packed weekend begins on Saturday (April 24) with the General Tire 200 at 12:00 p.m. CDT and the Ag-Pro 300 at 3:00 p.m. CDT.

Limited admission options remain for the GEICO 500 and fans are encouraged to log onto www.talladegasuperspeedway.com or call 1-877-Go2-DEGA for details. Tickets are available for Saturday’s doubleheader, with kids 12 and younger admitted free (with a paying adult) to grandstands/towers.

Richmond Raceway #NASCAR Weekend Recap

Richmond Raceway #NASCAR Weekend Recap

Alex Bowman Steals Victory from Denny Hamlin in Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway

Alex Bowman Steals Victory from Denny Hamlin in Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway

An emotional Alex Bowman could only shake his head and give kudos to his No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports crew following a dramatic victory over the hometown hero Denny Hamlin in the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway.

Bowman took the lead for the first time all race on a restart with 10 laps remaining and easily pulled away from Hamlin, who had been the day’s most dominant driver. Bowman’s .381-second winning margin earned the 27-year old his first victory of the season, third of his career and first ever on a short track. He is the eighth different race winner in nine NASCAR Cup Series races this season.

“To be honest with you, we were terrible on short runs,” said Bowman, who had to overcome a pit road speeding penalty as well. “We restarted third and I’m like, if we get out of here with a solid top-five we’ll be good. We overcame a lot today.”

“I don’t know if [crew chief] Greg [Ives] pumped the pressures way up or what he did, but that’s more grip than I’ve ever had in a race car at Richmond and it worked out really well.”

John Hunter Nemechek Takes Checkered Flag in ToyotaCare 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Race

John Hunter Nemechek Takes Checkered Flag in ToyotaCare 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Race

John Hunter Nemechek earned his second NASCAR Camping World Truck Series win in the last four races and had to hold off his boss Kyle Busch to do so Saturday afternoon. Nemechek scored the victory by a slim .307-seconds over Busch in the ToyotaCare 250 at Richmond Raceway.

Nemechek, 23, led a race best 114 of the 250 laps in his No. 4 KBM Toyota, reclaiming the lead for good with 17 laps remaining after racing back from a late race pit stop. Busch, who has 12 wins overall at Richmond – six in the NASCAR Cup Series and six in the NASCAR Xfinity Series – was pushing for his first truck series win at the three-quarter mile track.

The KBM truck team has now won four consecutive races – two for Nemechek (Las Vegas also), Busch (Atlanta) and Martin Truex Jr. (Bristol).

Derek Kraus: 2021 NCWTS at Richmond: Race Preview

By: Nascarvd Nascarvédé

April 17, 2021 “Toyota Care 250”
(Stages 70/140/250 laps = 187.5 miles)

Derek Kraus: 2021 NCWTS at Richmond: Race Preview

The new driver / crew chief combination at McAnally-Hilgemann Racing will begin this Saturday, April 17th. Indeed Matt Noyce is replaced after the first 5 races by Mark Hillman as crew chief. Rest assured Matt is not left without a job because he's joining Niece Motorsports this weekend in Richmond where he will officiate as crew chief for truck #44 with Jett Noland as driver.

But who is Mark Hillman? In NASCAR there are the big families of drivers with the Petty, Earnhardt, Labonte, Wallace, Jarrett, Bodine, Busch,… But there are also the big families of crew chiefs. This is the case with the Hillmans. A family from Lockport, NY. Mark is the son of Mike Hillman, who has had a long career as a NASCAR crew chief. In the Cup Series for example since 1993 (372 races). And he's still active in 2021 at Rick Ware Racing where he takes care of the #51. But above all, he was successful in the Xfinity Series with the title of champion obtained with Tommy Ellis in 1988. But he was also crew chief in the Camping World Truck Series where he was successful with Todd Bodine for example.

Among the Hillmans, there is also Mark's brother, Mike, Jr. who has also been crew chief in all the NASCAR Series, the Cup, the NXS, the K&N and especially the NCWTS where he has been successful with many drivers including Todd Bodine. With "The Onion" he won the championship title in 2006 and 2010. His last success in NCWTS he won in 2020 with Raphael Lessard in Talladega when he was working for Kyle Busch Motorsports. This year he officiates as crew chief at David Gilliland Racing with Hailie Deegan as driver.

And this is where the stars align! The world is small because former teammates in K&N Pro Series at Bill McAnally Racing Hailie Deegan and Derek Kraus are still NCWTS opponents today and will each have one of the Hillman brothers as crew chief! Mike, Jr. with Hailie and Mark with Derek!

Let's talk about Mark now. He too became a crew chief after climbing the ranks one by one within the family Hillman Racing team. Mechanic, then car chief and since 2014 he has been a crew chief. 141 Cup races, 7 in NXS where he worked this year at MBM Motorsports, the team led by Carl Long with Timmy Hill as driver.

But he also held the position of crew chief in the K&N series and a few years ago in NCWTS in 2012 and 2013, still in the family team. This return to the 3rd national division of NASCAR within the McAnally-Hilgemann Racing team should allow him to experience success with the young Derek Kraus. That’s all we want. Which of the two Hillman brothers will allow Derek or Hailie to be the first to win a race this year? Whatever people say, whatever they think it's obvious that Derek and Hailie's careers have been closely linked since 2018. They are the future of NASCAR.

A quick word on last year's race at Richmond, Derek had had a tough race where he couldn't do better than 23rd. Yet the race had started well as he finished 6th in the first stage. But his Toyota lacked endurance on the long runs. Derek will start the race from a distant 29th position with his Tundra in the Incredible Bank colors. But we know his “never give up” spirit. And Richmond is the type of oval that suits him perfectly. It's a bit like a big Kern County Raceway in Bakersfield, CA.

Finally, it should be noted that a former opponent of Derek in K&N West will make his NCWTS debut at Richmond. He's a guy that I appreciate very much, just like his mother Teresa with whom we share the same battle with the disease. I'm talking about Keith McGee, of course. Follow the Reaume Brothers Racing #33.

GO Derek GO !!

Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America Launches First-Ever Virtual Fundraiser

The “Walk, Run, Ride for 45” virtual fundraiser challenges participants to complete 4,500 steps or 45 miles in honor of Adam Petty all while raising funds to help send kids to camp at Victory Junction

Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America Launches First-Ever Virtual Fundraiser

Kyle Petty Charity Ride, Inc. announced the launch of its “Walk, Run, Ride for 45” virtual fundraiser challenge honoring Kyle Petty’s late son, Adam. Registration for the fundraiser begins on Monday, April 5, 2021. Participants will have five weeks to fundraise before conquering the physical challenge of walking or running 4,500 steps or riding 45 miles on their bicycle or motorcycle over the course of five days – May 10 – 14, 2021. Every penny raised, every step taken, and every mile ridden helps the Ride keep Adam’s dream alive by raising awareness and funds to send children with chronic and serious medical illnesses to camp at Victory Junction.

“Walk, Run, Ride for 45” was created in lieu of postponing the 26th Anniversary Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America for the second time due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

“After receiving so many requests to hold a virtual event in place of the Ride, we are excited to deliver and open up the event to allow not only our riders, but also allow our fans to participate,” said Kyle Petty, former NASCAR driver, current NBC Sports racing analyst and founder of the Ride. “Our sole mission is to raise funds each year to provide magical camping experiences for deserving kids at Victory Junction. While we might not be having our Ride this year, our hope for the ‘Walk, Run, Ride for 45’ virtual fundraiser is to keep the Ride’s spirit alive while coming together to raise money to continue to support our cause.”

A $10 registration fee enters participants into the virtual fundraiser challenge, where they can then choose to fundraise individually or as part of a team. The top three fundraisers and top fundraising team will win the following prizes:

  1. • 1st Place Fundraiser: Four tickets to a 2021 NASCAR Cup race (conditions apply); a Zoom call with Kyle Petty; three Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America hats autographed by Kyle Petty; assorted Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America swag items
  2. • 2nd Place Fundraiser: Two tickets to a 2021 NASCAR Cup race (conditions apply); two Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America hats autographed by Kyle Petty; assorted Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America swag items
  3. • 3rd Place Fundraiser: A branded Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America OGIO jacket; a Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America hat autographed by Kyle Petty; assorted Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America swag items
  4. • Top Fundraising Team: Six tickets to a 2021 NASCAR Cup race (conditions apply); a Zoom team call with Kyle Petty; assorted Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America swag items

Registration for the event will take place Monday, April 5 through Sunday, May 9. Then, to honor Adam, former driver of the No. 45 car who passed away in a racing accident on May 12, 2000, participants are encouraged to complete 4,500 steps or 45-mile challenge from May 10 – 14, 2021.

Participants can choose to walk, run or ride all at once on one specific day or they can spread it out over the course of the five-day period. Once they have completed their challenge, participants are also encouraged to share it on social media with a photo or video using #WalkRunRideFor45.
