JRM’s Connor Zilisch Named Rookie of the Year

At the annual NASCAR Xfinity Series Awards Banquet, JR Motorsports driver Connor Zilisch was honored for achievements during the 2025 season.

Zilisch, who led the series in victories with ten (10), was named Rookie of the Year for his performance, which included a run of nine wins in 14 races throughout the summer. His 10th and final win of the year came at the Charlotte Roval in October.

Despite winning ten races, Connor suffered a heartbreaking third-place finish in the NASCAR Xfinity Series championship race.

“Left my heart on the track. Myself and @jrmotorsports gave 110% all year long and that is something I’ll forever be proud of. Although we aren’t going to walk out of Phoenix tonight as champions, I have already achieved more than 10 year old me ever thought I would. I can’t wait for my future in this sport and thank you to everybody who has supported me this year.❤️” Connor Zilisch

No offence, to Jesse Love, the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series Champ – Many fans have expressed their lament that despite his dominant performance all season including winning the regular season championship.– Connor was not crowned 2025 Xfinity Champion.

In 2026, nineteen year old Connor Zilisch will compete full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series for Trackhouse Racing, joining teammates Ross Chastain and Shane van Gisbergen. Randall Burnett will be his crew chief, and Red Bull and WeatherTech are the primary sponsors on his #88 ride.

NASCAR Cup, Xfinity, & Truck Championship 4

The NASCAR Cup, Xfinity, & Truck Championship 4

Phoenix Raceway #Championship4

NASCAR Cup Playoff 4

Chase Briscoe; Denny Hamlin; William Byron; Kyle Larson

The NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs Championship 4 field is cemented after William Byron’s  walkoff win on Sunday at Martinsville Speedway.

Both Denny Hamlin and Chase Briscoe clinched Championship 4 spots by winning earlier in the semifinal round, and despite having engine issues at Martinsville, they will fight for the Bill France Cup next Sunday at Phoenix Raceway (3 p.m. ET, NBC, Peacock, HBO Max, MRN Radio, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, NBC Sports App).

Kyle Larson clinched the final spot in the title-deciding round by seven points over Christopher Bell.

Only one this is for certain; it will be a Joe Gibbs Racing Driver (Briscoe or Hamlin) or a Hendrick Motorsports Driver (Byron or Larson) with the championship cup next weekend.

NASCAR Xfinity Playoff 4

Connor Zilisch; Carson Kvapil; Justin Allgaier; Jesse Love

Of the four drivers fighting for the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series championship next weekend.JR Motorsports teammates Connor Zilisch and Justin Allgaier were already locked in before Martinsville, but they will be joined by teammate Carson Kvapil, so JRM drivers will make up 75% of the final four.

The other driver is a fellow member of Team Chevrolet, ensuring a bowtie-backed driver wins it all. That will be Jesse Love  for Richard Childress Racing.

NASCAR Craftsman Truck Playoff 4

Corey Heim; Ty Majeski; Tyler Ankrum; Kaden Honeycutt

Corey Heim has had a dominant season, shattering a win record that has been standing since the 1990s. He has led over 1500 laps, and is in a completely different universe when his stats are compared to his title rivals. Further, Heim has also been here before, making the Championship 4 in both 2023 and 2024 as well.

Nevertheless, Corey will have to best Ty Majeski; Tyler Ankrum; Kaden Honeycutt to win the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Championship.

Byron Hits Dominant Martinsville Walkoff as Champ 4 is Set

William Byron powered past Ryan Blaney with 43 laps to go and held him off on a late restart to win Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs elimination race at Martinsville Speedway, clinching a Championship 4 berth for the third consecutive season.

Byron, who led 304 laps, won by 0.717 seconds and will compete for his first championship alongside Denny Hamlin, Chase Briscoe and Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kyle Larson, who clinched the lone spot on points.

“Damn, I got a lot to say,” Byron told NBC Sports’ Marty Snider. “Things have a way of working out, and we’ve been tested, and this is just unbelievable. I’m out of breath.

“All these guys work so hard and you put everything into Sundays and sometimes you don’t get anything in return. And that’s been the last couple weeks and honestly throughout the year, we had some close calls, but sometimes life is that way, but you just got to keep being resilient, and we were and just feels damn good.”

Ryan Blaney finished second; Chase Elliott placed third; Ross Chastain came in fourth and Kyle Larson completed the top five.

Taylor Gray finally pulled through in a dramatic late-race battle with his rival, Sammy Smith, to score his first career NASCAR Xfinity Series win at a place that has dealt him so much heartbreak, Martinsville Speedway. Gray led a race-high 52 laps and won by 0.344 seconds in overtime.

“About damn time I got me a clock,” Smith said in his victory interview on The CW. “I cannot thank everyone enough on this 54 team, such an awesome racecar. Jason (Ratcliff, crew chief) and the pit crew did an awesome job tonight. Everyone on this crew bring me awesome racecars to the track and give me an opportunity to race for a win every time I come here.”

It was “Heim Time” once again this weekend at Martinsville Speedway as Corey Heim won the Slim Jim 200 for his 11th win of the 2025 season.

Heim led a race-high 77 laps en route to the victory, extending his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series single-season wins record in the process.

“Definitely a rocky race there, getting behind on track position,” Heim said. “We wanted to capitalize on our day and make the most of it. I really didn’t think we had the truck we did in the spring, but once we got out front, it showed we really had something to work with here.”

Kaden Honeycutt finished second; Layne Riggs placed third; Brent Crews came in fourth and Corey LaJoie completed the top five.

Briscoe Wins Talladega Thriller, Clinches Championship 4 Spot

Briscoe Wins Talladega Thriller, Clinches Championship 4 Spot

In a typically dramatic push to the Talladega Superspeedway checkered flag, Joe Gibbs Racing’s Chase Briscoe made a last-lap pass on the frantic field to claim victory in Sunday’s YellaWood 500 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs race and earn his first-ever shot at the season title.

The 30-year-old Indiana native Briscoe will join his JGR teammate Denny Hamlin, who won last week at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, leaving the final two positions in the Championship 4 to be decided in next week’s Round of 8 finale at Martinsville Speedway.

Briscoe thanked another JGR teammate, however, 23-year-old Ty Gibbs, for the push forward on the final lap Sunday that resulted in his first-ever superspeedway win, 0.145 seconds over Front Row Motorsports’ driver Todd Gilliland and Gibbs, neither of whom is among the eight-driver playoff field.

The runner-up showing was a career best for Gilliland.

“Ty Gibbs, just an incredible teammate there,” said an emotional Briscoe, who stood on his No. 19 JGR Toyota waving his arms to the cheering crowd. “I honestly would not have won that race without Ty. It was an amazing team effort. I can’t believe I won a superspeedway race. I’ve never done it at any level.”

“It’s not hit me, we’re going to Phoenix,” a grinning Briscoe said of the championship opportunity he now has after leading only 16 laps Sunday, but the most important final one.

“Absolutely [a dream come true]. So thankful that the Lord’s blessed me, opening doors and closing doors at times, but certainly opening an incredible door for me here at Joe Gibbs Racing. … Even today, I just had such a ‘peace’ and normally I’m scared to death, nervous around this place, but today, just had such a peace.”

Todd Gilliland finished second; Ty Gibbs placed third; Bubba Wallace came in fourth and Cole Custer completed the top five.

Austin Hill Completes Talladega Sweep with Xfinity Series Win

Austin Hill Completes Talladega Sweep with Xfinity Series Win

Once again, Richard Childress Racing’s Austin Hill proved himself the driver to beat on NASCAR’s big drafting-style tracks, the veteran holding off the field on a dramatic overtime restart with two laps remaining at Talladega Superspeedway to earn the victory in Saturday’s United Rentals 250.

Hill’s No. 21 RCR Chevrolet led a race-best 48 of the 100 laps to earn a season sweep at the 2.66-mile speedway, NASCAR’s biggest track. The 31-year-old Georgia native claimed both stage wins and the .105-second victory over JR Motorsports playoff driver Carson Kvapil. The victory now gives him 10 wins at drafting style tracks – having already eclipsed the previous record set by NASCAR Hall of Famers Dale Earnhardt and Tony Stewart, who each had eight victories on that style of track.

Although Hill has been eliminated from contention for the Xfinity driver’s title, his win Saturday does guarantee his RCR team a car in the 2025 owner’s championship.

“If you have any questions and it’s green-white-checkered, you probably just go to the bottom [of the track] because of how crazy the second and third lane was there at the end,” an elated Hill said after climbing down from the hood of his Chevy, where he waved his hands and encouraged the huge crowd’s loud reaction.

“Being able to race for Richard Childress is always special, and to be able to deliver wins like this,” Hill continued. “As the playoff started and us getting knocked out the way we did, it stung a lot, but once we knew we were still in it for the owner’s championship, I decided I’d do it just like I would going for a driver’s championship.

“To be able to lock ourselves in and go to Phoenix knowing we’re going for an owner’s championship and be able to try and deliver one to Richard Childress Racing means the world to me.”

Carson Kvapil finished second; Justin Allgaier placed third; Christian Eckes came in fourth and Caesar Bacarella completed the top five.

Pole: Jesse Love

Gio Ruggiero Scores First Career Truck Series Win

Rookie Gio Ruggiero capped a typically dramatic afternoon of racing on the Talladega Superspeedway high banks with the 19-year-old’s first career trip to NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Victory Lane in Friday’s Love’s RV Stop 225.

Though not in the playoffs, Ruggiero held off his Tricon Garage teammate and current championship leader Corey Heim in a two-lap overtime duel to the checkered flag, his No. 17 Toyota leading the way by a mere .059 seconds. The effort rewarded an absolutely strong day for the young driver, who won pole position and led a race-best 37 of the 90 laps.

“Super thankful all the guys on this 17 truck, they worked their butts off today and definitely brought the best piece today,” the Massachusetts driver Ruggiero said. “We showed it in qualifying and throughout the race there that we had the fastest piece. Thanks to Toyota and everybody who supports me. Great to win a race with my mom and dad here.”

Corey Heim finished second; Ty Majeski placed third; Dawson Sutton came in fourth and Layne Riggs completed the top five.

#NASCAR Playoff Picture

NASCAR Cup, Xfinity, & Truck Series Compete at Talladega Superspeedway this Weekend

NASCAR Cup Series

Denny Hamlin is back in the Championship 4 with eyes on his first career NASCAR Cup Series title.

Hamlin passed teammate Chase Briscoe with four laps to go to take the lead and win the South Point 400 on Oct. 12 at Las Vegas.

The driver of the No. 11 Toyota used four fresh tires to work into the top three with 10 laps to go before passing Kyle Larson for second and working past Briscoe for the lead.

Three playoff drivers had major issues at Vegas. Ryan Blaney blew a tire early and crashed, finishing 38th. William Byron, in 2nd inside of 40 laps to go, crashed after running over a slowing Ty Dillon at the opening of pit road. Chase Elliott had a pit road penalty and never recovered back into the top 10, finishing 18th.

Xfinity Series

Aric Almirola denied Connor Zilisch a ticket to the Championship 4 with a pass with 10 laps to go to win the Focused Health 302 NASCAR Xfinity Series race on Oct. 11 at Las Vegas.

Almirola made the pass and cleared Zilisch despite contact between the two leaders down the backstretch.

Zilisch can clinch a spot win or lose as soon as next week at Talladega given his playoff cushion (+82 to the playoff cutline), but he missed out on the win at Vegas.

Talladega looms next as a possible major shakeup around the playoff cutline, with the playoff field now knowing at least two drivers will advance to the final four on points.

Craftsman Truck Series

The Craftsman Truck Series returns to the track Friday for the second event in the round of eight. Only Corey Heim is assured a spot in the next round for the championship race at Phoenix Raceway.

Heim rallied to win October 3rd Ecosave 250 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval, setting a single-season NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series record with his 10th win of the 2025 campaign, breaking the tie with Greg Biffle!

Elliott Survives Wild Overtime to Win Kansas Playoff Race

#NASCAR - Elliott Survives Wild Overtime to Win Kansas Playoff Race

In the last few feet of race track in the second overtime Sunday afternoon, Chase Elliott came from oblivion to steal the Hollywood Casino 400 Presented by ESPN Bet and earn a berth in the Round of 8 of the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs.

As his No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet sped wide open through the final corner on Lap 273 at Kansas Speedway, Elliott’s car bounced off the side of Denny Hamlin’s Toyota on the way to the finish line.

Elliott, who restarted eighth for the final two-lap shootout, got to the stripe 0.069 seconds ahead of Hamlin, who led 159 laps and drove the final stretch of the second Round of 12 playoff race without benefit of power steering.

“Everything worked out perfect for me,” said Elliott, who picked up his second win of the season, his second at Kansas and the 21st of his career. “Had a great push through (Turns) 1 and 2. That kind of all started with the 6 (Brad Keselowski). Big run off of 2. Seas kind of parted and just was able to keep my momentum up. That was really it …

“I wasn’t going to lift, so I didn’t know what was going to happen. I figured at the end of the day, it was what it was at that point. We were both wide open corner exit. Wherever I ended up, I ended up. At that point, we were all committed.”

Denny Hamlin finished second; Christopher Bell placed third; Chase Briscoe came in fourth and Bubba Wallace completed the top five.

Brandon Jones Tames Kansas, Punches Spot in Xfinity Round Of 8 with Victory

With a flawlessly executed race from start to finish, Brandon Jones preserved his bragging rights at Kansas Speedway, winning Saturday’s Kansas Lottery 300 NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs event.

The only driver in the field to have won a previous Xfinity race at the 1.5-mile intermediate track, Jones pulled away during the final 38-lap green-flag run and beat runner-up rookie sensation Connor Zilisch to the finish line by 2.787 seconds.

With the victory, his second of the season, his third at Kansas and the seventh of his career, Jones claimed a berth in the Round of 8. Zilisch and defending series champion Justin Allgaier also advanced to the next round on points.

“That was exactly like how we needed that to go down,” said Jones, who started from the pole, led 54 of 200 laps and finished second in each of the first two stages. “Two really solid stages – no mistakes. The entire day was so well executed. That’s probably by far in my career my most well-executed race.

“I’m so proud of these guys (his No.20 Joe Gibbs Racing team). We worked so hard all week to get here and put a race like this together.”

Connor Zilisch finished second; Austin Hill placed third; Sammy Smith came in fourth and Sheldon Creed completed the top five.

It was more of the same Friday night in the Reese’s 150 for the ARCA Menards Series at Kansas Speedway, where Queen took the lead late and survived two overtime restarts to secure his eighth victory of a season that is all but sure to end next week with a championship for the 27-year-old from Chesapeake, Virginia.

“What a rookie campaign,” said Queen, who needs only start the finale next Saturday at Toledo Speedway to clinch the 2025 ARCA Menards Series championship. “One more race left. Maybe we can get nine (wins), but I think we’re closing in on what the main prize is.”

Kansas Speedway is proud to announce that Johnny Dare and members of the wildly popular Johnny Dare Morning Show will serve as Grand Marshals for this Sunday’s Hollywood Casino 400 presented by ESPN BET. The race, a key event in the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs, will feature Kansas Speedway’s signature blend of high-speed action with an added dose of Kansas City flavor.

Johnny Dare was a mainstay of Kansas City’s airwaves for 32 years and host of the long-running Johnny Dare Morning Show on 98.9 The Rock. He became a local legend not only for his bold and entertaining radio style but also for his unwavering commitment to the community.

“Johnny Dare is not just a Kansas City voice – he’s a true Kansas City icon,” Kansas Speedway President Pat Warren said. “From his charity efforts to his connection with listeners, he embodies the spirit of this city. We’re thrilled to have him and his crew deliver the command to start engines for one of the most anticipated races of the season.”

In addition to his decades-long radio career, Johnny Dare is known for his extensive charity work, including organizing the annual Hope for the Holidays campaign, which helps struggling families throughout the Kansas City area with food, housing, and holiday gifts. He also served as honorary chairman of the March of Dimes’ Bikers for Babies ride organized by the late Don Post, who won the Betty Jane France Humanitarian Award in 2013. Dare’s dedication to giving back has earned him respect far beyond the studio.

“I’ve been a fan of NASCAR for years, and to be part of something this big, in our own backyard, is a real honor,” Dare said. “Kansas City has always shown up for us, and we’re proud to show up for them – especially at an event that brings so much excitement and pride to the community.”

Racing at Kansas Speedway begins Friday with the ARCA Menards Series’ Reese’s 150, followed by Saturday’s Kansas Lottery 300 NASCAR Xfinity Series race. That sets the stage for Sunday when the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs Round of 12 will continue with the Hollywood Casino 400 presented by ESPN BET.

Christopher Bell Completes JGR Round of 16 sweep, Wins Bristol Night Race

Christopher Bell Completes JGR Round of 16 sweep, Wins Bristol Night Race

With a charge to the lead from fifth place with four laps left in Saturday’s Bass Pro Shops Night Race at Bristol Motor SpeedwayChristopher Bell kept Joe Gibbs Racing and Toyota perfect in the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs.

Bell survived a hard, square shot to his rear bumper from Brad Keselowski in the final corner and steered straight to the finish line, 0.343 seconds ahead of the Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing co-owner and driver.

Joining JGR teammates Chase Briscoe and Denny Hamlin as winners in the Round of 16, Bell advanced to the Round of 12, which begins Sept. 21 at one of his best tracks, New Hampshire Motor Speedway (2 p.m. ET, USA Network, HBO Max, PRN Radio, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, NBC Sports App).

“Well, I’ll tell you what, I was nervous on the two (tires),” Bell said. “I didn’t know if I wanted to be on the bottom or the top, and whenever Brad picked the top (lane) didn’t really give me an option. I had to pick the bottom.

“All night long, I don’t know, old tires just really, really pushed up in the middle of the corners, so I was hoping that those guys (starting ahead of him) on old tires would push up, and they did. They did, and I was able to get by or get underneath them.

“It wasn’t pretty there at the end, but we got her done.”

Brad Keselowski finished second; Zane Smith placed third; Ryan Blaney came in fourth and Joey Logano completed the top five.

Aric Almirola Holds Off Sheldon Creed in Thrilling Xfinity Series Finish

Aric Almirola Holds Off Sheldon Creed in Thrilling Xfinity Series Finish

Benefitting from a split-second late-race strategy decision, veteran Aric Almirola held off a mightily motivated field to claim the win in Friday night’s Food City 300 NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs opener at Bristol Motor Speedway.

While running second to the series’ championship leader, Connor Zilisch, when a caution flag flew with 36 laps remaining, Almirola watched Zilisch pull onto pit road for fresh tires, and instead of following him into the pits as his crew expected, Almirola abruptly pulled his No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota back on track at the last moment.

“Just tired of getting beat by those guys, I figured I’d try my chances with the lead,” Almirola said of his race-winning pit strategy decision. “They’ve been so fast and they fire off so fast on new tires and I just didn’t think I could beat them straight up on new tires. It took me about 20 laps to get going, so I thought my best chance was to stay out on old tires.

“We watched the last two or three races here and saw how the nine-car with [driver] Noah Gragson win with like a 100 laps on his tires,” added Almirola, whose No. 19 JGR Toyota is racing for the owner’s championship. “So, I decided to stay out when they said pit.”

Sheldon Creed finished second; Sam Mayer placed third; Carson Kvapil came in fourth and Connor Zilisch completed the top five.

From Spin to Win: Layne Riggs Rebounds for Truck Series Playoffs Victory

From Spin to Win: Layne Riggs Rebounds for Truck Series Playoffs Victory

Layne Riggs recovered from a first-lap spin at Bristol Motor Speedway and rallied to win Thursday night’s UNOH 250 Presented by Ohio Logistics, the second race in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Playoffs.

Grabbing the lead after a restart on Lap 142 of 250, Riggs held off a determined charge by two-time Truck Series champion Ben Rhodes to win his third race of the 2025 season, second at Bristol and fifth of his career.

“You don’t get two mulligans in the playoffs, and I got two,” said Riggs, who salvaged a 17th-place finish after slamming the outside wall in the first playoff race Aug. 30 at Darlington. “The first lap of the race to spin out, it’s a blow to your confidence, for sure, but I’ve got faith in this team, and I’ve got faith in everybody here …”

“I think this shows that we’re right there, we’re in contention, we can do it,” said Riggs, who ran the final 109 green-flag laps with scuffed qualifying tires on his No. 34 Ford, having used a set of stickers after the spin on Lap 1. “That’s three in a row at Bristol for Front Row Motorsports. It’s a big testament to all these guys. We’ve got a really good package here.

“Man, I’m excited for New Hampshire. I’ve never even been there and I already love that race track.”

Ben Rhodes finished second; Corey Heim placed third; Ty Majeski came in fourth and Daniel Hemri completed the top five.

Brent Crews Secures Another East Series Owner’s Title for Joe Gibbs Racing With a Dominant Bristol Win

Brent Crews Secures Another East Series Owner’s Title for Joe Gibbs Racing With a Dominant Bristol Win

Although Joe Gibbs Racing was unable to celebrate another driver’s championship in the ARCA Menards Series East for 2025, they departed Bristol Motor Speedway on Thursday victorious in multiple regards.

Brent Crews delivered a stellar, wire-to-wire performance to secure his third East Series victory on the season and fifth overall on the ARCA Menards Series platform. The dominant performance also enabled Crews to give the No. 18 Toyota its fourth consecutive East Series owner’s title.

While Crews obtained a win and an owner’s championship, Isaac Kitzmiller locked up the East Series driver’s championship by tallying an eighth-place finish.

“There’s been a lot of success with the Joe Gibbs Racing team from Cup all the way down to ARCA,” Crews said. “I was just trying to fill the shoes. Growing up watching Kyle Busch dominate with JGR, watching William [Sawalich] have strong runs and with Sammy [Smith] being able to win too, I came here with what I needed in my head.”

Tristan McKee finished second; Brenden Queen placed third; Leland Honeyman came in fourth and Thomas Annunziata completed the top five.

Robbie Kennealy Scores Emotional First West Series Victory at All American Speedway

The ARCA Menards Series West’s visit to All American Speedway was always going to be emotional for Robbie Kennealy

Every race on the calendar inches closer to the one-year anniversary of when Kennealy’s father Gary suddenly passed away due to a heart attack. Gary’s death was a devastating loss for the entire Kennealy family, but both of his sons, Robbie and Joey, have done everything possible to continue competing in honor of their father.

On Saturday evening, Gary’s eldest son Robbie put together the best race of his young career by earning the General Tire Pole Award and fending off West Series points leader Trevor Huddleston to score his maiden West Series victory. Kennealy could not help but be tearful as he climbed out of his No. 1 Jan’s Towing Ford, knowing his dad was with him in spirit through all 150 laps.

“[It was] one year ago during this exact race [at All American] when my dad suddenly passed away,” Kennealy said. “One year later, we win one of the biggest races ever. That’s for you dad.”

Trevor Huddleston finished second; Andrew Chapman placed third; Joey Iest came in fourth and Eric Johnson Jr. completed the top five.
