Crawford Caught in a Federal Sting Tring to Set Up Sex Date with 12-Year-Old Girl
Crawford in 2008
Richard Hoyt Crawford Jr., better known as former NASCAR Driver Ricky Crawford, was arrested on February 28th 2018, when he arrived at an agreed location to have sex with an underage female. He faced a federal charge of attempting to entice a minor into sex.

Crawford had communicated with an undercover Seminole County sheriff’s deputy who was working as part of an FBI undercover child sex crimes task force. The UC posed as the father of a fictitious twelve-year-old girl who was offering the minor’s sexual services.

It was alleged that Crawford had numerous email and text exchanges with the undercover agent over the next two weeks, seeking to set up the meeting, as well as setting the amount of money to procure the “daughter” for an amount between $50 and $75.

A jury found the sixty-year-old guilty of attempted enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity and faces a minimum mandatory penalty of 10 years, up to life, in federal prison. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for November 26th.

Crawford spent seventeen years in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. He made three hundred and thirty-six (336) starts and earned five wins, seventy-five (75) top five as well as a hundred and sixty (160) top 10 finishes. He last appeared in a race in fall 2012 at Talladega Superspeedway.

Playoffs Approach: Only Three Races Remain In The #NASCAR Xfinity Series Regular Season

Playoffs Approach: Only Three Races Remain In The #NASCAR Xfinity Series Regular Season

The NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs are approaching quickly, leaving little time for drivers to lock themselves into the postseason. Just three races remain before the series crowns the regular season champion and awards the winning driver an additional 15 Playoff points.

Justin Allgaier’s win at Road America last weekend vaulted him into the series championship standings lead by five points over second-place Christopher Bell and 12-points over third-place Elliott Sadler. Below is a look at each Playoff-eligible driver and their current Playoff status as the NASCAR Xfinity Series heads to Darlington Raceway for the Sport Clips Haircuts VFW 200 on Saturday, September 1 at 3:30 p.m. ET on NBC, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Sitting Pretty In ‘Clinch-ville’:

So far this season, six drivers have clinched a spot in the 2018 NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs:
  1. Justin Allgaier (four wins)
  2. Christopher Bell (four wins)
  3. Tyler Reddick (one win)
  4. Elliott Sadler (third in points)
  5. Cole Custer (fourth in points)
  6. Daniel Hemric (fifth in points)

These next three races are great opportunities for these drivers who have clinched already to pad their Playoff point totals. All six currently have Playoff points, led by Christopher Bell with 24; followed by Allgaier (19), Reddick (six), Sadler (four), Hemric (three) and Custer (one).

Can Clinch On Points:

Heading into Darlington this weekend only one driver has the opportunity to clinch on points, Joe Gibbs Racing’s Brandon Jones. The youngster from Atlanta, Georgia, can clinch with 52 points and a new winner. If there is a repeat winner, he can also clinch if he scores 39 points. Jones could also clinch a Playoff spot with a win.

Jones and the No. 19 JGR team sit sixth in the series standings after making 23 starts this season, posting two top fives, 10 top 10s and an average finish of 14.2. He also has one Playoff point from a stage win.

Keep an eye out for Jones this weekend as he looks to get his first series win. If he accomplishes the feat, he will become the fourth driver in series history to get their first career win at Darlington, joining Geoff Bodine (1982), Neil Bonnett (1983) and Ron Bouchard (1984). Jones has made two series starts at Darlington, recording one top 10 and an average finish of 16.0.

Needs A Win To Clinch:

The next five drivers in the championship standings are currently in position to make the NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs, but due to the points being so tight they can’t clinch their Playoff spot on points alone this weekend at Darlington. They could lock themselves into the postseason with a win.

Kaulig Racing’s Ryan Truex sits eighth in the NASCAR Xfinity Series standings following Road America, 176 points ahead of 13th-place Michael Annett (the first standings position outside the Playoffs). Truex has made 23 starts this season, putting together one top five, nine top 10s and an average finish of 13.4. This weekend at Darlington will be Truex’s second career start at the historic facility. His first series start at Darlington was back in 2011 with Pastrana Waltrip Racing; when he started 14th and finished 25th.

Richard Childress Racing’s Matt Tifft is coming off his best performance of the season at Road America, where he started on the pole and finished second. Now the Ohio native is ninth in the series standings with a cushion of 172-points over 13th place Michael Annett. In 23 starts this season, Tifft has posted four top fives, 11 top 10s and an average finish of 13.7. Tifft made his series track debut at Darlington last season, but it didn’t go as planned. At the time driving for Joe Gibbs Racing, Tifft started 14th and finished 40th due to an incident on Lap 1. Look for Tifft to want to rebound from last season’s performance and build on his momentum from last week as the Playoffs approach.

Driving the No. 60 for Roush Fenway Racing this weekend, Austin Cindric is currently 10th in the Xfinity Series championship standings, 86-points Ahead of 13th. Cindric has mad 23 starts this season posting three top fives, seven top 10s and an average finish of 17.5. This weekend will be Cindric’s series track debut at Darlington Raceway.

Cindric’s Roush Fenway Racing teammate Ryan Reed is looking to make the Playoffs for the third consecutive season and heads to Darlington this weekend 11th in the series championship standings, 73 points ahead of 13th-place Michael Annett. Reed has made four starts at Darlington in his Xfinity Series career with an average finish of 16.0.

On The Hot Seat:

The 12th and final position in the Xfinity Playoffs is currently occupied by driver Ross Chastain, and with three races left in the regular season his position is officially the proverbial ‘Hot Seat.’ While the chances of Chastain’s 49-point cushion in the championship standings disappearing between he and 13th place Michael Annett are slim, it can still happen. But what should have Chastain most filled with worry is the chance for a new winner, which could potentially bounce Chastain out of the postseason. He is just 24 points behind Cindric, and a jump up in the standings would give him a little more security in the event that a new winner were to join the postseason picture. In 23 starts this season, Reed has two top fives, eight top 10s and an average finish of 16.1.

In 2018, the NASCAR Xfinity Series has seen 12 different winners through the first 23 races, three of which were championship contenders (Bell, Allgaier and Reddick).

Chastain has made 23 starts this season, posting one top five, six top 10s and an average finish of 16.2. The ‘Lady in Black’ has been relatively good to Chastain, he has three series starts at Darlington, posting one top 10 and an average finish of 17.7.

Outside Looking In:

The next three drivers, while not mathematically disqualified from getting in on points, it will most likely take a lot for them to close in on 12th-place Ross Chastain with just three races remaining in the regular season. The best course of action for the drivers outside the NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs cutoff is to win.

Of any of the drivers outside the Playoffs looking in, JR Motorsport’s Michael Annett has the best shot of getting in on points with 49-points separating him from 12th place. Annett has made 23 starts this season, recording one top 10 and an average finish of 17.7. In five series starts at Darlington, he has an average finish of 20.4.

Jeremy Clements is currently 14th in the series championship standings, 107 points behind 12th-place Chastain. The South Carolina native has made 23 starts this season, putting together one top 10 and an average finish of 20.3. Clements has made seven series starts at his home track, Darlington, positing one top-10 finish (eighth in 2016) and an average finish of 22.7.

Ryan Sieg is 16th in the driver standings following Road America, 120 points behind 12th-place Ross Chastain. In 23 starts this season, Sieg has tallied one top 10 and an average finish of 20.4. He has made four series start at Darlington in his career with an average finish of 22.8.

Derek Kraus Gets Redemption, Wins at Gateway

In the second of two combination races between the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and West this season, Derek Kraus was able get the best of both those worlds in Friday night’s Monaco Gateway Classic presented by the West Coast Stock Car Hall of Fame at Gateway Motorsports Park, as he wound up in Victory Lane.

Following finishes of 20th at Iowa and ninth at Evergreen, both where he ran out of fuel, the Stratford, Wisconsin, native was able to pull away late in the 120-lap event to earn his third K&N Pro Series win of the season and fourth of his career. It was a win he called his biggest.

“It was definitely a difficult night,” a relieved Kraus said. “About 15 laps into it, something with the spark plug went wrong, was really slow down the straightaways. We fell back, I don’t even know where we were, but we restarted the second stage in the back and drove up to third and caught the front two.”

Justin Haley Wins Thrilling Truck Playoff Race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series made the annual trip to Canada to open up their 2018 Playoffs at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

Despite missing the 2018 Playoffs, Todd Gilliland seemed almost destined to win his first career truck series race Sunday at CTMP. Taking the lead on Lap 53 from Johnny Sauter, it was smooth sailing for Gilliland, until a late race caution set up a thrilling NASCAR Overtime battle with his Kyle Busch Motorsports teammate and Playoff driver Noah Gragson. Gragson, who won both previous stages, dove to pass Gilliland in the final turn.

In similar shades to the move made by Chase Elliott in the 2013 race, the contact sent both Gragson and Gilliland spinning. The two trucks blocked the racetrack, causing a massive pile up coming to the checkered flag. The ensuing carnage allowed fellow Playoff driver Justin Haley to sneak through the wreckage and win the Chevrolet Silverado 250.

The 19-year-old driver from Winamac, Indiana lead only a single lap all race long and it proved to be the most important one. With this victory, Haley claims his second checkered flag of the 2018 season.

"We were just in the right place at the right time" said Haley celebrating in Victory Lane. "I can’t thank everyone at GMS Racing enough; it was a truly blessed day."

Justin Allgaier Celebrates with a Burnout After Winning the ‘Johnsonville 180’

Justin Allgaier Powers to Fourth Xfinity Win of 2018 at Road America

Continuing to make the most of his banner year in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Justin Allgaier took advantage of a mistake by James Davison in the closing laps of the Johnsonville 180 to cruise to his fourth win of the season at the 4.048-mile road course of Road America.

Allgaier who used pit strategy throughout the 45-lap event to keep his No. 7 BRANDT Chevrolet Camaro up front elected to stay out when the final caution waved at Lap 38 when Josh Bilicki crashed in Turn 12.

But, a push from Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Christopher Bell on the Lap 39 restart, Davison grabbed the lead entering Turn 1 from Allgaier – but the Australian made a mistake and overshot the corner in Turn 8 – handing the lead back to Allgaier who then cruised to a 5.303 second victory over Matt Tifft.

"The last restart there, (James Davison) kind of left before I did and (Matt Tifft) gave me a shot based on he didn't think (Davison) was going. I spun the tires really bad after I got hit," Allgaier said in Victory Lane. "I thought I had gave it away.

"Then when he made the mistake down in (Turn) 8, I knew I just had to be smooth and fast. This team is awesome. I told them on the radio after the race that it was an honor to drive these race cars. I can thank everyone enough that's on this race team and back at JR Motorsports."

“Congratulations to Ford on the Fusion's 100th Cup win, and to Kurt, Gene and Tony on an impressive race,” said Doug Yates, President and CEO of Roush Yates Engines. “Kurt and the Stewart-Haas team earned every bit of that win tonight. Congratulations to Ryan and Joey on their Stage wins. That really helped set the tone for the night. It’s been a total team effort all year with Ford Performance and it showed tonight as the Ford teams were battling for the lead.”

In a classic battle in the Thunder Valley, Busch raced against SHR teammate, Clint Bowyer to take the lead during a late race restart, only to have the ninth caution of the race come out with 13 laps remaining. Busch showed his grit and determination, as he got a great restart and held off a hard charging Kyle Larson, on fresher tires, to take the checkered flag and win Ford’s 11th points race of the season.

“It’s awesome to do it at Bristol. I love this place,” Busch commented in Victory Lane. “We now have won six times here and I have great teams that have always helped me win. This group of guys, Billy Scott, my crew chief, this is his first win and to be able to do it with Ford and Monster and Haas Automation is just what it’s all about is executing as a team and we had good restarts when we had to, and then you’ve got to get clever and start throwing everything at it.”

Kyle Busch Loses His Composure Due to Heckling #NASCAR Fan

Kyle Busch Loses His Composure Due to Heckling #NASCAR Fan

Should NASCAR levy a penalty to Mr. Busch.

UPDATE:  Bristol Motor Speedway issued a statement today in regards to a fan confronting Kyle Busch after Saturday night’s race.

The track stated: “Our security team has investigated a post-race incident where a guest repeatedly confronted Kyle Busch verbally and physically while he was signing autographs for fans. As Busch then prepared to leave in his golf cart, the individual struck the driver across the chest, and at that time, Busch confronted the individual. The two were separated quickly and a uniformed officer pulled the individual to the side, allowing Busch to depart.” A NASCAR spokesperson told NBC Sports that the sanctioning body was aware of the incident and discussed it with police.

The video is grainy and poorly lit (see below); however the altercation is clear. Fans undoubtedly unhappy with Kyle Busch booed him as he was exiting Bristol Motor Speedway. They were probably unhappy that the NASCAR Star had executed a controversial bump on Series Champion, the popular Martin Truex Jr.

However, rather than just continue on his way, as a responsible adult might do . . . . . it would appear that Busch decided to take it upon himself to escalate the already negative situation.

When Busch left his golf cart to confront the heckling fan, the fan shoved Kyle Busch hard. Crews intervened to separate the two.

Not the actions of a professional athlete. With six Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series wins to his credit just this season . . . . it is, in NASCAR Race Moms opinion, such a shame. Additionally, with M&M’s as his biggest sponsor – this negative behavior is not a proper model for all the kids who love him.

Now the only remaining question is: Should NASCAR levy a penalty up Mr. Busch.

On Tuesday, August 14, Kyle Larson, driver of the No. 42 Credit One Bank Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, and members of the Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR) team made a pit stop at Meeting Street Academy in Charleston, S.C. to speak with students about teamwork and perseverance during a school-wide assembly. Team partner Credit One Bank was in attendance and donated $25,000 to the school’s literacy program. Larson, the CGR team, and Credit One Bank previously visited the school in August of 2017.

“It was a lot of fun to visit Meeting Street Academy again, seeing the work that’s being done and getting a chance to spend time with the students” said Kyle Larson. “These kids have bright futures and I hope we were able to further motivate and encourage them to work hard and persevere.”

Students got an up-close view of the No. 42 Credit One Bank Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 complete with the latest addition of the school’s logo to the car, which Larson unveiled during the assembly. Larson then visited K-2 grades, delivering a signed copy of his book to each classroom, coloring books, and die-cast car replicas of the No. 42 Credit One Bank Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 to each student. Additionally, the CGR pit crew gave a presentation about teamwork and life lessons learned through racing to third, fourth, and fifth grade classes.

“We were so pumped to have Kyle come back and update us on everything that’s happened in the last year. His message about responding to setbacks and overcoming obstacles was a really powerful one for us” said Dirk Bedford, Principal of Meeting Street Academy. “Kyle used the things he learned from those challenges to have an extraordinarily successful year and our MSA scholars look forward to doing the same thing at school this year.”

“Credit One Bank is proud to contribute to the mission of Meeting Street Academy to empower young people from underserved neighborhoods. Our hope is that this donation will help a new generation of students get excited about learning, reading, and racing,” said John Coombe, Senior Vice President of Communications for Credit One Bank. “We’re proud to utilize our partnerships with Chip Ganassi Racing and NASCAR to create this unique opportunity for the students of Meeting Street Academy. To have Kyle, a successful NASCAR driver, share his personal story is invaluable to these students.”
