Happy 120th Birthday Ford - Love my Mustang
NASCAR Race Mom (NRM) Enjoys Her Mustang

Ford Motor Company turned 120 years old a couple of days ago (June 16th). To commemorate the anniversary, they have invited employees to “Celebrate by Showing the World What Makes You Proud to Work at Ford.”

Ford Media suggested to its worldwide staff how they might engage with social media to share their experiences.

While I never had the pleasure of working for Ford, I can share that I really enjoyed my 2016 Ford Mustang – a muscle car that loves the open road. My Pony Car turned a lot of heads! - NRM

Garage Moments – Advance Auto Parts #Sweepstakes

Garage Moments – Advance Auto Parts #Sweepstakes

My Favorite #GarageMoments

2016 Ford Mustang 2 Door Fastback GT customized by Tommy Pike Customs #GarageMoments

All most all are aware that this writer is a NASCAR Nut – a Super Fan; however, not many are aware of NRM’s hobby – entering Sweepstakes/Contest. This post is designed to educate all my friends, family and foes who have expressed their opinion that this fun venture is a waste of time – it is not. Yes folks, regular people really do win the big one!

I have enjoyed many amazing prizes in my thirteen-year sweepstakes adventure. However, my latest win - an awesome 2016 Ford Mustang 2 Door Fastback GT customized by Tommy Pike Customs plus $20,000 to cover taxes is by far the biggest!

As a way to celebrate Father Day 2021, NASCAR racecar drivers Ryan Blaney and Austin Cindric excitingly kicked off the Garage Moments sweepstakes (presented by Shell Pennzoil). Throughout the month of June, Advance Auto Parts released stories of the Blaney and Cindric father-son duos.

We also got to hear from Tommy Pike, the builder of 2016 Mustang GT!

The rules to enter were simple:

  • 1. Tweet a photo explaining a memory about cars shared between you and your child or parent (of which you are either the parent or child) with hashtags #GarageMoments and #Contest and tag @AdvanceAuto.
  • 2. You must be a registered user of Twitter with a public account and follow @AdvanceAuto on twitter.com/AdvanceAuto to participate.
  • 3. A “parent" can be anyone portraying a parental figure.
  • 4. If you don't have a Twitter account and want to enter, register for a free Twitter account at http://twitter.com and visit Twitter.com/AdvanceAuto to become a follower of @AdvanceAuto.

Once submissions closed, a panel of judges reviewed them and determine the top three winners! The grand prize winner (me) received the Tommy Pike custom 2016 Ford Mustang 2 Door Fastback GT plus $20,000 to help with taxes.

Other prizes include an all-expenses-paid trip for two to the 2022 Pennzoil 400 in Las Vegas and a $1,222 Advance Auto Parts gift card!

NASCAR Race Mom was blessed to have won this splendid Mustang with the entry below:

A quick thanks to Advanced Auto Parts, Carquest Auto Parts, Tommy Pike Custom, Pennzoil, Ryan Blaney, and Austin Cindric for this fantastic sweepstakes and allowing us to share our memories of family #GarageMoments. It was both fun to enter and submitted fantastic prizes.

Keeping track of the Xfinity Playoff bubble

Keeping track of the Playoff bubble

The Xfinity Series is back on a road course this weekend to make history along with the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series.

Keeping track of the Xfinity Playoff bubble. #NASCAR

With Austin Cindric taking home his fourth win of the season last weekend at Road America, six drivers remain locked into the Playoffs with a win. Spots seven through 12 are still up for grabs.

Although, Brandon Brown, who is holding onto the final Playoff spot right now extended his lead further over the weekend, road courses can shake up everything especially when no one has ever run a race on it.

Ross Chastain is still holding onto the seventh spot in the driver Playoff standings as the first driver without a win. Justin Allgaier is right behind Chastain in eighth and Michael Annett is in ninth. Ryan Sieg jumped up one spot to 10th while Riley Herbst, a Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender, is hanging on to the 11th spot.

Derek Kraus Takes 8th In Spectacular Finish

Kraus Takes 8th In Spectacular Finish At Michigan

Spins Backwards Across The Finish Line In Truck Series Race At Michigan

Derek Kraus Takes 8th In Spectacular Finish #NASCAR Trucks
NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series Event:
  • Race: Henry Ford Health System 200, Aug. 7, 2020
  • Location: Michigan International Speedway, Brooklyn, Mich. (2-mile oval)
  • Format: Three Stages
    • Lap 20
    • Lap 40
    • Lap 100
Derek Kraus had one of the more spectacular finishes of his young career in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series, taking eighth while spinning backwards across the finish line in his No. 19 NAPA AutoCare Toyota Tundra at Michigan International Speedway on Friday.

It was a fitting finish for the 18-year-old rookie, capping off a race that featured a record number of cautions and went into overtime twice before the checkered flag flew.

The multiple cautions in the final 20 laps nearly prevented Kraus from getting back into the top 10, after a flat right rear tire required a pit stop and put him deep in the field less than 30 laps from the finish.

Kraus, who had started ninth and ran in the top five on two occasions, scrambled to mount a late-race charge. He was up to 16th with 10 laps remaining, but could not gain ground on the leaders as the yellow flag waved over and over. He charged from 15th on the final restart and was ninth when he took the white flag a lap later. He was battling for seventh heading to the finish when he got turned around, but still managed to cross the finish line.

With his Michigan finish, Kraus remains ninth in the championship standings – 30 points above the cutoff for making the playoffs.

Derek Kraus – Thoughts about Michigan

How was the race for you?

“Overall, it was a pretty good race and ended up eighth. We got stage points in both stages and just struggled on pit stops again, which seems to be a thing that happens for us quite a bit. Once we got done with the pit stops, I felt like we were able to work our way back to the front. Got to eighth at the end there and had a good solid top-10, good points day. Finishing both stages and getting stage points was big. Ready to move onto the road course in Daytona.”

What did you think of the ‘choose rule’ in today’s race?

“I liked it. It kind of brought a whole new challenge to the race. If you were farther back in the field – obviously the top lane was dominant so a lot of people picked the top and a few that were farther back in the field could take the bottom. It was just another option. Just like Late Model races where you’ve got options on the restarts. I feel like it was definitely a move in the right direction.”

July 31 & August 1 Live on MAVTV

The ARCA Menards Series races originally scheduled for May 29 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and July 11 at Elko Speedway have been removed from the 2020 schedule and their dates reassigned to July 31 and August 1 at Toledo Speedway, series and track officials announced. Officials from ARCA, Mid-Ohio and Elko expect to renew the originally scheduled races in the 2021 season.

The unique schedule marks the first weekend doubleheader at the same track for the ARCA Menards Series since Pocono ran a pair of races on the Friday and Saturday of its July weekend in 2003. It is the first time since 1956 that the series will hold multiple races on a single weekend in its hometown, when a Friday/Saturday tripleheader was held at the now defunct Toledo Raceway Park.

The Friday/Saturday doubleheader at Toledo Speedway will be run under ARCA's Event Operations Protocol and limited to essential race team and operations personnel only. Toledo/Lucas County Health Department officials, as with the June 13 ARCA Menards Series East race at Toledo Speedway, have approved the event to be run with participants only and as such fans will not be permitted.

Friday's Menards.com 200 presented by SPxE is slated for an 8 pm ET green flag, while Saturday's Menards 200 presented by Crosley Brands is set for a 6 pm ET start.

Speedway Motorsports Executive Statements on Passing of New Hampshire Motor Speedway Founder

RIP Bob Bahre / #NASCAR

Following are statements from Speedway Motorsports executives on the passing of New Hampshire Motor Speedway founder Bob Bahre:

Bruton Smith, Speedway Motorsports Executive Chairman:

“Bob Bahre was a true pioneer for motorsports in New England. He wanted to grow our sport and build things that people will remember. He was a smart businessman and I have a lot of respect for that, but I have even more respect for the positive impact he had on people. I’ll pray for Sandy and Gary during this tough time, and I know they are proud of the legacy Bob leaves behind.”

Marcus Smith, Speedway Motorsports President and CEO:

“What I’ll remember most about Bob Bahre will be his character, understated yet charming. Every time I saw him he had on khakis and a white shirt. I always enjoyed our genuine conversations. He was very generous to people in the motorsports industry and to the New England communities where he did business. He went about things in a quiet, dignified manner and often times that simple approach is the most impactful. It’s truly an honor to have known Bob. He lived a meaningful life. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. ”

David McGrath, NHMS Executive Vice President and General Manager:

“On behalf of our team at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, I’d like to extend our deepest condolences to Sandy, Gary and the entire Bahre family. Bob left an incredible mark on auto racing through the New England region, and his love of motorsports was legendary. He had a passionate commitment to both drivers and race fans, and that commitment was evident when he built our facility in 1990. I am proud to have known Bob. It was a true pleasure to have spent time getting to know him and learning from him over the years. He will be missed, but his legacy of supporting and building motorsports in New England will live on forever.”

Derek Kraus 5th At Kansas

Kraus 5th At Kansas

Moves To Top 10 In Points

Derek Kraus 5th At Kansas / #NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series

A fifth-place finish by Derek Kraus behind the wheel of the McAnally-Hilgemann Racing No. 19 ENEOS / NAPA Toyota Tundra on Friday – in the first race of a NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series doubleheader at Kansas Speedway – moved him into the top 10 of the championship standings.

The 18-year-old driver, who missed his high school graduation to race at Kansas, will return to competition on Saturday in the second race of the weekend for the series.

Kraus had a fast Tundra and demonstrated its strength in charging toward the front on several different occasions in Friday’s race. After starting 15th, he quickly made his way into the top 10 within two laps and finished the first stage in sixth on Lap 30.

Although he got shuffled back to 19th as the field cycled through pit stops, Kraus wasted no time battling his way back to the front. After finishing fifth in the second stage at Lap 60, he went to work, again, after restarting 10th. Shortly after moving into fifth by Lap 80, he pitted with the rest of the field under caution.

Kraus restarted in 13th and began another charge to the front – moving into the top 10 by Lap 90 and seventh by Lap 100. He was up to sixth by Lap 120 and charged into fifth on Lap 126 of the 134-lap event.

It marked his second top-five finish of the season. He opened the year with a best-career finish of fourth at Daytona International Speedway.

With his finish on Friday, Kraus moved to 10th in points – as the battle continues for a top-10 position and a spot in the playoffs.

Saturday’s truck series race at Kansas Speedway, slated for 1:30 p.m. ET, will be televised live on FS1.

Derek Kraus – Thoughts about Kansas

You were up front all night, and earned stage points in both stages and scored your second top-five finish of the season. Talk about the solid run.

Derek Kraus / #NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series “Yeah, our ENEOS Toyota Tundra was really fast tonight. I felt like right from the drop of the green flag we had a good Tundra. We were able to drive from 15th to seventh/eighth at the end of that first stage. Then, we fell back a little bit on the pit stop and then made our way back up and finished fifth at the end of the night. I feel like that was a really good run and a really good way to start off the weekend.”

This was your high school Graduation Night. What did it mean to you to have such a strong finish tonight.

“I feel like tonight we had a really good run, and it was a special night, for me. It was graduation. I got my diploma from my principal back in Strafford, Wisconsin. I really can’t thank them guys enough. They let me chase my dreams of racing, and they let me miss as much school as I needed to, to chase my dreams. I just can’t thank them enough, and tonight was a really good night to have a good finish.”

With this run, you are back inside the top 10 in the overall standings. What do you need to continue to do to maintain that Playoff spot?

“We just need to have good runs. Tonight was a really good run. We had a really good start to the weekend, as we have that race tomorrow. I feel like we just have to have consistently good runs, finish inside the top 10 every week. If we do that, and do our jobs, we will be in the top 10 I feel like.”zzz
