Submitted by RACING NEWS DIGEST

NASCAR Camping World Series WEST Driver Moses Smith will be at Racing News Digest LIVE on September 1st 2009 at 8 pm EST for an interview and interaction with all race fans!

This will be the first time I have done anything like this and I believe it may be a first for Moses as well, so we will see how it all goes. But, the point of this is to interview Moses Smith and allow fans/readers to ask questions as well. So your interaction will be moderated but more than welcome. I can not see why all questions from all readers won’t be asked of Moses unless we possibly run out of time.

I will have a post up the night of the interview on Racing News Digest’s home page. So just visit the home page Tuesday night and you should see the interview going on!

Moses Smith drives the #16 Hasa Pool Products/White Flyer Toyota in the Camping World Series WEST division. He has a career 35 starts in that series with 7 top 5 and 21 top 10 finishes. He has a solid career average finishing position of 11.67.

This year Moses has 11 starts (out of 11 possible), 4 top 5’s and 8 top ten finishes and and average finishing position of 9.73. Moses is sitting 6th in the points standings.

Do you have questions for Moses Smith but think you might not be able to make the interview. No problem. Just contact me thought my CONTACT PAGE with you question(s) and we will get them fit in.

Moses is on a tight schedule so he might not be able to stick around as long as people would like.

You can follow Moses on Twitter a couple different ways.

His Twitter account is @mosessmith16.

His Mom live blogs his races and you can follow that on Twitter as well at @MosesRace.

And Moses’s Mom who is very supportive of Moses can be found on Twitter at @zwriter.

Central Iowa Building & Construction Trades 125

Competitors in the NASCAR Camping World Series West are headed to Iowa Speedway this week for the Central Iowa Building and Construction Trades 125 on Friday night. The event is a critical one to drivers and teams, with only two races remaining to determine the final championship standings for 2009.

The race … The Central Iowa Building and Construction Trades 125 is the 12th event on the 2009 schedule for the NASCAR Camping World Series West. It marks the second visit to Iowa Speedway by the NASCAR Camping World Series West this season. The circuit traveled to Iowa in May for a NASCAR Camping World Series East-West combination race.

The track … Iowa Speedway is a .875-mile paved oval with compound banking of 12-14 degrees in the corners, 10 degrees in the front stretch and four degrees in the backstretch. The facility, which opened for operation in 2006, is located east of Des Moines in Newton.

The records … The qualifying mark and race record for a standalone NASCAR Camping World Series West race is to be established.

RCR, JGR talent … Entries for this event include a couple of talented young drivers who represent two of NASCAR’s most well known car owners. Richard Childress Racing has entered Ryan Gifford (No. 29 Shell/Pennzoil Chevrolet), while Max Gresham (No. 18 Joe Gibbs Driven Toyota) will be behind the wheel for Joe Gibbs Racing. Gifford, 20, of Winchester, Tenn., has registered two top-fives – including a second-place finish at South Boston (Va.) Speedway – while competing in three NASCAR Camping World Series East events for RCR this season. Gresham is a 16-year-old from Griffin, Ga., who has raced in two NASCAR Camping World Series East races for the Joe Gibbs team, recording a top-five finish at South Boston Speedway.

Home again … Making a return to his native state will be 17-year-old Brett Moffitt (No. 4 Karl Chevrolet Chevrolet) of Grimes, Iowa. Moffitt – who finished sixth in the NASCAR Camping World Series East-West combination race at Iowa Speedway in May – scored a win at South Boston Speedway in just his fifth series start. In addition to that victory, he has four top-five and seven top-10 finishes in nine races this season.

Tight title battle … Jason Bowles (No. 6 SunriseFord.com Ford) of Ontario, Calif., leads the championship standings by 37 points over Eric Holmes (No. 20 NAPA Auto Parts Toyota) of Escalon, Calif. A year ago, with two races remaining, Holmes led Bowles by nine points. Holmes went on to capture the championship by a 48-point margin, his second series title in three years.

Top five contenders … The competition is tight between all of the drivers in the top five of the standings, with only 58 points separating the drivers in third, fourth and fifth – Greg Pursley (No. 26 Gene Price Motorsports/Star Nursery Ford) of Newhall, Calif.; Paulie Harraka (No. 12 NAPA AutoCare/Adaptive One Brakes Toyota) of Fairlawn, N.J.; and David Mayhew (No. 17 MMI Services/Ron’s Rear Ends/KHI Chevrolet) of Atascadero, Calif.

Even closer … The three drivers in sixth, seventh and eighth in the standings are very close. Only 24 points separate Moses Smith (No. 16 HASA Pool Products/White Flyer Toyota) of Tempe, Ariz.; Brett Thompson (No. 61 Rich Thompson Trucking Chevrolet) of Jerome, Idaho and Blake Koch (No. 21 GodSpeaks.com Chevrolet) of W. Palm Beach, Fla.

NASCAR Off-Weekend

NEW Quote from Moses Smith #16 Hasa Pool Products Toyota Camry:

Actually this weekend I am going to spend it working at the shop. We have just expanded our Business, and have become the Official Standard FM Builder/Supplier. This has been a long goal, that has finally come together. We have a big responsibility to our racers, and want to make sure that during this transition they still have plenty of support.

I also have a bunch of Chores to do around the house, so this weekend is really about getting caught up. The end of the season is coming soon, so I will get some down time then…

One of the aspects of racing, that even the most avid NASCAR fans often forget about, is just how taxing a full race season can be. In the NASCAR Camping World Series West it means thirteen point race weekends, the Toyota Showdown, and a host of sponsor’s obligations. This torrid pace makes a driver’s and crew’s rare off-weekends all the more valuable as they seek out a little Rest and Recreation, including time with their families.

NASCAR Race Mom took her off-weekend opportunity to fit in a quick getaway to London, England. (see Cover It Live post below for details and photos). It was interesting, because no matter how hard NRM searched, there was no evidence of NASCAR in London. Kind of made the trip surreal!

Moses Smith, driver of the #16 Hasa Pool Products Toyota spent his off-weekend trying to get caught up at his race shop in Phoenix, Arizona. Quote from Moses' twitter account, "Done with my office work, Heading out to the shop to put a new Front Clip on a wrecked Racecar...This is the kinda work I like..."

As August 29-30 represents the final off-weekend of the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Season, Ask.com, the Official Search Engine of NASCAR, went behind-the-scenes to give you a look at what your favorite drivers plan to do with their free time. They have also posed several additional questions regarding each driver and their plans to test your knowledge!

You can check out this informative and entertain post by clicking here .

Do you think you've got a better plan for how Jimmie Johnson, Tony Stewart, or Kurt Busch should spend their last weekend before the Chase? Send your funny, creative and entertaining ideas to DriverOffWeekend@ask.com and you might just receive some autographed memorabilia signed by the No. 96 Ask.com driver and former Cup Champion, Bobby Labonte! Just remember to include your mailing address when you send in your idea so they will know where to send your memorabilia.

NASCAR comes to Colorado National Speedway

The NASCAR Camping World Series West is the only taste of NASCAR fans can get live in Colorado each year. Colorado National Speedway hosted the series Saturday night along with a entertaining assortment of other driving like sprint cars and figure 8 racing.

The real family racing was to be found in the McAnally racing tent of Moses Smith. Camping World Series fans know that his mom “Z” has taken the internet by storm with her blog and twitter coverage of the racing. Dubbed also “NASCAR Race Mom”, she not only writes about her son, but will also answer fan questions about what’s going on behind the scene and is a source of rapid fire news on each event.

Smith Records A Top-Five
Finish At Miller

Moses Smith, pilot of the No. 16 HASA Pool Products/White Flyer Toyota Camry for Bill McAnally Racing finished 5th at Miller Motorsports Park’s NASCAR Camping World Series West race. Smith is eighth in the chase for the NASCAR Camping World Series West championship and only 88 points out of the top-five. He is only 15 points out of seventh with three races left in the season.

During the practice sessions, Smith fought with a tight condition in the Hasa Toyota Camry. Mario Isola and the Hasa team from BMR made the needed adjustments to put the Hasa Toyota on the starting grid in eighth of 26 cars.

Smith was called to pit road at lap 14 to take on fuel. He returned during the caution at lap 16 to fix the fuel dry break that was leaking fuel. With a lot of rocks being kicked up onto the track, Isola made the call to put on fresh tires at lap 19.

Smith was running in 19th at lap 20 and moved into the top ten by lap 28. With six laps to go, Smith took over 5th and posted his fastest lap of the race at lap 37.

“Miller was an awesome race! Besides having brake troubles late in the race and making an unexpected pit stop to fix the fuel dry break from leaking, everything went as planned,” said Smith. “Thanks to Mario (Isola) for recalculating our pit strategy and the Hasa crew for having flawless pit stops. I think we were only a few spots from last at one point, and we were able to get through traffic find ourselves in 5th before the checkered flag.”

The next race for the series will be the Toyota/NAPA 150 at Colorado National Raceway on August 15th. The race at CNS can be seen on August 20th on SPEED TV at noon pacific time. For tickets and more information on the event, please visit www.coloradospeedway.com.

Moses Finishes Fifth In Miller

Miller Motorsports Park is a state-of-the-art road racing facility for automobiles, motorcycles and karts located just 35 minutes from downtown Salt Lake City in Tooele, Utah. It is considered the finest facility of its type in North America.

Opened in 2006, Miller Motorsports Park hosts many of the world's most significant racing series, including the American Le Mans Series, Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series, NASCAR Grand National West Series, AMA Superbike Championship and, new for 2008, the FIM Superbike World Championship, one of the top three racing series in the world.

In Saturday’s NASCAR Camping World Series West race, Moses Smith qualified the #16 Hasa Pool Products / White Flyer Toyota Camry in eighth position for the start of the Miller Motorsports Park “125.” However, after misfortune forced the team to pit three times, Moses found himself in eighteenth place at the race’s halfway point.

The #16 Hasa Pool Products / White Flyer Toyota Camry battled back hard and returned to the top ten on lap twenty-five. However, Smith reported brake issues and the team were worried about them overheating. Two consequential yellow flag conditions assisted Moses in maintaining his brakes.

After the last yellow flag, with only ten laps to go, Moses charged forward from eighth place for a fifth place finish.

The team would like to give a special thanks to Blimpie, "America's Sub Shop" for supplying the teams with a scrumptious lunch on Friday for practice and Saturday’s race.
