Dale and Amy Expecting a Little Earnhardt

Dale and Amy Expecting a Little Earnhardt

Congratulations to this wonderful couple.

No due date was announced.

Earnhardt said on Twitter that he and Amy learned of the pregnancy Sept. 1, then shared a fun text message exchange he had Sept. 4 with fellow driver Landon Cassill, who relayed a "very vivid dream" his wife had about the Earnhardts.

“I’m excited to see these races from a different vantage point and hopefully offer some insight to the viewers,” said Earnhardt Jr. in an NBC press release. “I thoroughly enjoyed my opportunity to broadcast the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Michigan earlier this year, so I expect getting to spend time in the booth with the NBC team to be just as fun.”

How did you spend your NASCARless Sunday?

Fire Department Rushes to Dale Jr.’s Home (#nascar)

After a frustrating race in Kentucky, NASCAR’s Most Popular Driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr. was ready for some relaxing.

However, before the real fun began, a small barbecue grill malfunction required a visit by the local fire department.

None the worst for wear . . . . it was time for a Funday Sunday round of beer pong.

Ate, Slept, Breathed And Dreamt Racing
24 Hours A Day

Although NASCAR Race Mom is a huge racing fan, she has never heard of NASCAR Hall of Fame 2015 Inductee Fred Lorenzen .

Lorenzen began full time participation in NASCAR at the age of 26 in 1961. He would dominate the sport for the next 6 years. During this time frame Fred became the sports all time superspeedway winner (12), the first driver in NASCAR history to win races at all five of the south’s original superspeedways (1966), the first driver to win $100,000 in a single season (1963), the first driver to win the same 500 mile race three years in a row (Atlanta-’62-’64), the first driver to win five consecutive major race starts (races of 250 miles or more) in 1964, and he remains the only driver to have ever won Martinsville four straight times.

The Elmhurst, Illinois, native never ran a complete season, as his Holman-Moody Ford team chose to only to compete in the schedule’s most prestigious events.

Nevertheless, from 1961 through 1967 he won twenty-six (26) times. He posted more victories than NASCAR Hall of Famers Richard Petty (21) and David Pearson (eight). Lorenzen’s 16.46 career winning percentage ranks fifth all-time and highest among drivers without a NASCAR premier series championship.

His best season was 1963 when he finished with six wins, 21 top fives and 23 top 10s in 29 starts. Despite winning 26 races that season, he finished third in the standings.

Amazingly, Fred started just 16 races in 1964 but won eight times including five consecutive starts. During that stretch, he led 1,679 of the possible 1,953 laps, one of the most dominant runs in NASCAR history. A year later he won two of NASCAR’s major events – the Daytona 500 and World 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Lorenzen retired after the 1967 season, but made a brief return in 1970-72.

“I quit way too early,” Lorenzen said in a 1985 interview with Circle Track magazine. “I was good for another five or six years. I was at my prime, but I’d won about everything there was to win and I had plenty of money. I was sick with stomach ulcers and I was tired of living out of a suitcase. Most of all the spark was gone; the candle was out.”

Lorenzen also was among the first “outsiders” to capture the fancy of the partisan southeastern crowds following NASCAR premier series competition. Lorenzen was named the circuit’s Most Popular Driver in 1963 and 1965.

“Freddie was the first northerner I knew that all the people here liked,” informed Charlie “Slick” Owens, a Charlotte auto parts manager.

In retirement, Lorenzen became a successful Chicago real estate developer. He was named one of NASCAR’s 50 Greatest Drivers in 1998.

He was previously enshrined in the National Motorsports Press Association and International Motorsports halls of fame and Motorsports Hall of Fame of America.

Awesome, Dale Jr. Friday

By now, most of you know what a huge NASCAR fan I am. But did you know that teammates Dale Jr. and Jeff Gordon are two of my all-time favorite drivers!

A Hendrick Motorsports #88 Diet Mtn Dew 1:24 Scale Stock Car
Limited Edition Adult Collectable!

Recently NASCAR Race Mom was honored to have two unbelievable NASCAR opportunities. The first one involved a five-minute phone call with the four-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion and Chase contender, Jeff Gordon. (see post here)

The second was an opportunity to participate in a Google+ hangout with nine-time, NASCAR Sprint Cup Most Popular Driver and NASCAR Chase contender Dale Earnhardt Jr. (see post here)

It has been a pretty good 2012 for this NASCAR fan. However, it did not prepare me for today.

The U.S. Mail service brought me an awesome new green Dale Jr. hoodie. Now, I was expecting this attire. However, the mailperson also brought me a package from an unexpected source. The big box contained a Dale Jr. backpack; spy sunglasses; a Dark Knight Rises #88 Diet Mtn. Dew cap; and my favorite, a Hendrick Motorsports #88 Diet Mtn Dew 1:24 Scale Stock Car, Limited Edition Adult Collectable!

Now while I was counting my blessings, in the back of my mind, NASCAR Race Mom lamented the fact that I still did not have that coveted Dale Jr. autograph. Then in a "real-life is stranger than fiction moment," my husband Paul walked in with a huge box the UPS man left.

Doesn't NASCAR Race Mom look happy!
Believe it or not, the box housed a beautifully framed AUTOGRAPHED photo of Dale Jr.! Not sure what NASCAR Race Mom did to deserve all this special attention from Dale Jr. However to say I am appreciative would be a huge understatement.

NASCAR Race Mom is honored to be a member of the Dew Crew!

Tough Season Finale

Moses Smith, driver of the No. 16 NAPA Filters/Hasa Pool Products Toyota Camry would finish out the 2011 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West season third in the points race. In the fourteen races in the 2011 season, Smith recorded five top-five finishes and nine top-tens. This season he had his career best average finish in the five years he has competed in the NKPS West with two second place finishes coming at the short track of All American Speedway and the road course at Miller Motorsports Park.

Smith and the No. 16 NAPA Filters Toyota team spent the bulk of the nearly three-hour long practice session getting reacquainted with the 'new' Phoenix International Raceway. During the summer, the one-mile track was reconfigured.

Most noticeably was the back stretch where the dog-leg curve between turn 2 and 3 was pushed out 95-feet and the dog–leg tightened from 800 to 500 feet. "This is a weird track," Smith radioed in to the NAPA Filters/Hasa team. The back stretch was often compared to a roller coaster ride by many of the teams. Smith fought a tight race car for most of the practice session. He qualified on the inside of row fifteen.

"Green, green, green!" said spotter Mike David to begin the Casino Arizona "125". During the first caution at lap 12, Smith radioed in that the #16 was still tight. The No. 16 NAPA Filters Toyota came to pit road for adjustments at lap 16. Back underway, Smith radioed in that he was down on power and asked crew chief Mario Isola if he thought there might be a spark plug loose. He continued to report that the Camry was tight 'center off'. During the caution at lap 33, Smith returned to pit road for more adjustments on the right rear and the track bar.

Smith climbed thru traffic and was in 23th at the half-way break. At lap 72, Smith reported in that the No. 16 NAPA Filters Toyota was a tick snug coming out of turn four. When the caution came out at lap 96, Smith was now 16th on the board. He would return to pit road at lap 100 for additional adjustments. Smith would take the checkered flag in 17th.

The No. 16 NAPA Filters/Hasa Pool Products Toyota team and Bill McAnally Racing would like to thank our race partners Hasa Pool Products, NAPA Filters and White Flyer. Throughout the 2011 season, hundreds of Hasa Pool Products customers and fans came out to support their favorite team coming to races as far away as Newton, Iowa to Monroe, Washington to Phoenix, Arizona. We owe our success to their continued support for the past five seasons in the NKPS West.

The Village’s primary goal and focus is to “Provide a Home,” and financial assistance to these women. Moses Finishes In Fourth

NKNPS West Race at Portland Road Course

by Lee Elder, Goodyear Racing

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Luis Martinez slipped into the lead on the last lap and won the Bi-Mart Salute To The Troops 125 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race at Portland International Raceway.

Martinez alertly took advantage when race leader David Mayhew spun in turn 12 on the final lap around Portland’s 1.967 road racing gem. It was the final drama of a green-white-checkers finish.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the K&N Pro Series East and West programs, as well as for the NASCAR Canadian Tires Series. The bias-ply tires Goodyear supplies the three series come from the same line, allowing competitors in NASCAR’s top development programs to race interchangeably without the need to learn about differing tire packages.

Eric Holmes, the former series champion, finished second to Martinez, just .352 of a second behind the winner. Derek Thorn started 11th and finished third. Moses Smith was fourth and Dave Smith took fifth. Martinez averaged 93.424 on his best qualifying lap.

It was a big points night for everyone except championship leader Greg Pursley. Pursley led the race when mechanical woes struck, knocking him out of the race on lap 46. He finished 26th in the big 30-car field. Pursley, who set a record with his fast start this season, still leads with 1,550 points. Moses Smith is next with 1,317.

Moses Smith Heads to Roseville

Three-time NASCAR K&N Pro Series West Most Popular Driver, Moses Smith, will pilot the No. 16 Hasa Pool Products/White Flyer Toyota Camry for Bill McAnally Racing at All American Speedway’s season opener. He will take the green flag on April 16th as the series makes its first of two appearances at the short track located at the Placer County Fairgrounds.

The veteran driver has three top-five finishes in six starts at Bill McAnally Racing’s home track. He retains the record for the most top-ten finishes at this .333-mile high banked oval in the heart of Northern California. Currently ninth in the chase for the series championship, Smith and the Hasa Toyota team look to keep their momentum going toward the top of the points standing. They finished fourth in the series last season.

The Hasa Toyota team is coming back stronger than ever to the BMR team’s home track. Led by series champion crew chief Mario Isola, the Hasa team is well prepared. They’re looking forward to getting back to short track racing and a being at a race venue that they get such great support. Having so many Hasa Pool Product customers cheering for them is amazing. Over 500 Hasa Customers were in attendance at last fall’s race and were on their feet as Smith raced door-to-door to bring home another top-ten finish. BMR can’t thank them enough for coming out and being a member of the team.

We would like to welcome NAPA Gold Filters as an associate sponsor on the No. 16 Hasa Pool Products Toyota Camry. BMR would like to thank all our fans and race partners for their support.
