New Crown Royal Regal Apple

Smooth to the Core

So you have finished rinsing all the dishes from that grand turkey dinner with friends and/or family. Now your brain has advanced to the Christmas festivities. One of your facetious tasks is to plan your signature alcoholic beverage for the Christmas celebrations. Well relax, I have the perfect solution to that detail.

Did you know that Crown Royal has recently introduce a new Regal Apple Flavored Whiskey?

Crown Royal Regal Apple is a unique blend of hand-selected Crown Royal whiskies and Regal Gala apples resulting in the perfect balance of robust whiskey notes and crisp apple flavor. The apple extension is a great option for those fun-loving whisky drinkers looking for a high-quality flavored offering from a brand with a history of fine whisky making.

To maintain the essence of the Regal Gala apple, the apples start in a mixture of water and alcohol. The mixture is then distilled and specific selections are collected based on aroma. The aromatic fractions are blended to achieve the resulting apple flavor characteristics of the Regal Gala apple. The 70 proof (35% ABV) whisky opens with a slightly tart, crisp, apple flavor balanced with signature Crown Royal whisky with notes of caramel and light spice.

The blend creates the ideal balance of flavor and whisky, finishing on a crisp apple note with balanced sweetness, culminating in a full-bodied smooth finish.

The Pettys and Victory Junction
Persons of the Year

NASCAR Illustrated named the fine folks at Victory Junction, highlighting Richard and Kyle Petty, as their "Persons of the Year" for 2014.

Through pictures and stories from camp’s founders, counselors, campers and supporters, the magic of Victory Junction has been put into print in the NASCAR Illustrated December issue. What a special way to cherish and honor Adam Petty's inspired dream.

Victory Junction is a year-round camping facility for children with chronic medical conditions and/or serious illnesses. It is located in Randleman, North Carolina, USA. and was founded in honor of Kyles son, Adam*.

Last May, former NASCAR driver and racing analyst Kyle Petty; Kyle’s father, NASCAR Hall of Famer and seven-time champion, Richard; and Kyle’s best buddy, auto racing analyst and television personality, Rutledge Woods participated in the 20th Anniversary Ride Across America!

From May 3-10, 2014, they led more than 200 participants - including several celebrities- from Carlsbad, California to Daytona Beach, Florida to raise both awareness and funds for Victory Junction.

Rutledge Wood, NASCAR Race Mom, & Kyle Petty
Carlsbad, California - May 2014

NASCAR Race Mom was privileged to cover the Motorcycle Ride Kickoff in Carlsbad and had the opportunity to interview Kyle and Rutledge.

"What began as just a few friends having a good time riding track to track has turned into we have today, which is an incredible event that provides thousands of live changing experiences for children," Kyle Petty reported. "This is the first year we’ve traveled straight from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean, and I’m looking forward to experiencing it with friends, while meeting our fans and generous supporters along the way."

Over 175 riders line-up for the 20th Anniversary
“Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America.”
During our interview, Kyle Petty’s personal “hands-on” approach to his Victory Junction activities emerged impressively. It is this characteristic of extraordinary levels of involvement and commitment which advances the success of this charitable undertaking.

NASCAR Race Mom is also very passionate about the Victory Junction Mission. Thank you NASCAR Illustrated for featuring the Petty family’s dedication and vision with your cover story, "10 Years of Healing and Hope."

* The camp was founded by Kyle and his wife, Pattie, to honor their son Adam. Adam Petty was killed on May 12, 2000, during practice for a NASCAR race at New Hampshire International Speedway. Adam was nineteen years old.

RIP Bill Schmitt 4 Time #NASCAR
Winston West Series Champion

Race In Peace Bill Schmitt
February 13, 1936 - November 08, 2014

Bill Schmitt won an amazing four #NASCAR Winston West Series Championships; winning in 1977, 1979, 1989 and 1990. In 236 races, this driver could boast 21 wins, with 123 top-five finishes.

Schmitt also participated in 44 Cup races.  He was the winner of the first NASCAR sanctioned race outside of the United States winning a 500-lapper at Calgary, Alberta Canada.

Bill also competed Melbourne, Australia for the first race NASCAR ever had off the North American Continent. Schmitt was inducted into the Gatorade Circle of Champions in 1989.

Obituary

Bill Schmitt, loving husband, dad and grandpa, respected businessman, NASCAR Champion, and community supporter in his home city of Redding, made his last lap here on earth, and headed to his final pit stop in heaven on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at the age of 78.

Bill was a prolific businessman, starting or buying more than two dozen businesses over his lifetime, and driving the majority to success. He was well-known as one of the leaders in the North State logging industry in the 1980s and was chosen Logger of the Year in 2007. He wasn't all work, though, and made time to play hard at his dual passions, fishing and NASCAR racing.

Bill and Sylvia hosted dozens of their friends and family on their Alaskan King Salmon fishing trips annually. He was also a constant presence on the NASCAR circuit from the late 1970's into the 1990's, powering his way to NASCAR Winston West Champion four times with the help of Sylvia, his family, and many friends. He was inducted into the Gatorade Circle of Champions in 1989 and competed in the very first International NASCAR race.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sylvia, his children and their spouses, Jim & Karen, Steve & Rhonda, Kathie & Frank, Kenny, his nine grandchildren and their spouses, Jimmy, Tracie, Kristi, Melanie, Denise & Joe, Frankie, Jon & Beth, Megan & Steve, Amber & Dustyn, and seven great-grandchildren – Kevin, Matthew, Addison, Ryder, Jaylen, Baylie, and Kynzie.

Shocking Eminem “Tony Stewart” Stanza

(Jack Plunkett / Invision / AP)

Eminem has made a career off of shock value. However, in a new freestyle cypher to support “Shady XV,” Eminem managed to anger this NASCAR fan with the following inaccurate and tasteless lyric.

Been known to lose it though, so if I overdo it, you drove me too it. When I step into the vocal booth like I’m supposed to do I’ma murder you on a fuckin track like Tony Stewart.

Mostly for Eminem’s education; earlier this year, Stewart was cleared of any wrongdoing in regards to the role that he played in the death of Kevin Ward Jr. on that dirt track in New York.

Sadly, Eminem is a racing fan. In the past, he actually owned an ARCA Racing Series team. While not the driver himself, his name was featured as a title sponsor and co-owner of Carter / Eminem Motorsports.  He should and probably does know better.

Chase for the Championship Finale

NASCAR Car stats are important. However, with the 2014 Chase format revision, stats are not quite as important as in the past. This year beating, banging and blocking played a predominate role in determining who advanced to this weekend’s championship round at the Homestead-Miami Speedway.

“This format has just created that,’’ Kevin Harvick, one of the four possible champions said after his Phoenix win last week. “You have to do things that you normally wouldn't do, and in the end you have to try to make something happen for your team. You try to put yourself in a position to where you can be on the best defensive side of that to try to make it out of the corner without getting wrecked.’’

As NASCAR supports more contact, drivers will try to figure out what is permissible. It should be interesting to see how the surviving four strategize the last, yet all-encompassing last battle for the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup trophy.

Newman vs. Larson

Could this photo be any cuter!  In January of 2013 NASCAR Rising Star, Kyle Larson shared this photo of  Chase Contender Ryan Newman and himself via twitter.

Last race, NASCAR Veteran Ryan Newman's rough last-chance pass of the Rookie, Kyle Larson, at Phoenix International Raceway on Sunday drew plenty of attention and criticism.

"I think if Kyle Larson was in my shoes, he'd have done the exact same thing," Newman said afterward. "I didn't take him out. He still finished the race ... but I think in a day or two he'll understand, if he doesn't now. It's hard to rationalize that, but like I said, I did what I had to do and tried to keep it as clean as I possibly could. I don't like racing that way, but there's a lot on the line here, and we'll keep digging."

What did the young rookie think about all the drama?

"Coming to the finish, there were a lot of cars racing really hard. I knew the 31 (Newman) was right around me, and knew he needed to gain some spots to keep from getting eliminated from the Chase. "It's a little upsetting he pushed me up to the wall, but I completely understand the situation he was in, and can't fault him for being aggressive there. I think a lot of drivers out here would have done something similar if they were in that position."

Somehow the photo above describes this situation perfectly without any word.

Chase Elliott Win #NASCAR Nationwide Title

After a fifth place finish, Eighteen-Year-Old William Clyde Elliott II, more widely known as Chase Elliott, left the Phoenix International Raceway as NASCAR's Youngest National Series Champion. The son of 1988 Winston Cup Series champion Bill Elliott and Cindy Elliott also made history as the first rookie to win a NASCAR national series championship.

Chase's Father had not expected such a remarkable season.  “Absolutely no way,” Bill reported. “To be able to set foot in his first Nationwide car in January this year, to be here at the end of November as a Nationwide champion, it’s an incredible feat, not only for him but for the team.

Dale Earnhardt Jr., co-owner of Elliott's JR Motorsports race team, has said that his driver is likely to run another full season on NASCAR's No. 2 circuit next year. However, Hendrick, also a co-owner at JRM, sounded as if a few premier series starts would also be sprinkled into that mix.

2015 K&N Pro Series East/West Car #KNProUnveil

On Tuesday Nov, 4, NASCAR unveiled the 2015 K&N Pro Series East/West car at the SEMA automotive specialty products trade show at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

“This car is not only a pretty good-looking piece, it’s a game changer,” NASCAR Touring Series Managing Director Brad Moran, said.

The new body features panels made from a composite laminate blend that are bolted together in a new 12-flange design. The body will replace the steel-shelled cars in a design that’s 35 pounds lighters and closer to the NASCAR Xfinity Series and Sprint Cup Series bodies.

The car featured in Las Vegas is painted to replicate K&N Pro Series East Champion Ben Rhodes‘ current Chevrolet Impala SS, done up in white, blue, green and red colors.

More Big Trouble for Kurt Busch

Addendum:

After re-reading my post of yesterday, NASCAR Race Mom fears that she presented as jumping to the conclusion that NASCAR Star Kurt Busch was guilty. However, that was not the theme of this story. While he admits that an argument took place, Kurt Busch adamantly denies any physical abuse between him and his ex-girlfriend. Further it has been reported that Ms. Driscoll waited six weeks before reporting the domestic violence allegations to go to police; which hinders the investigation and blurs the evidence.

The only unquestionable detail in this “he said – she said” is that young Houston will be negatively affected no matter how the ending emerges.

***************************

Kurt Busch and Houston during a happier time at the
2014 “Crown Royal Presents the John Wayne Walding 400
at the Brickyard Powered by BigMachineRecords.com”
Busch has a history of run-ins on and off the track with drivers, NASCAR officials and reporters. Further, he was suspended by Roush Racing for the last two races of the 2005 season after police cited him for reckless driving.

More recently, who can forget the fan video which featured 2004 NASCAR Cup Champion verbally abusing ESPN pit road reporter Dr. Jerry Punch during the 2011 season finale. Busch was fined $50,000 by NASCAR after the clip was posted on YouTube.

Then Kurt was assessed a one race suspension in 2012 for verbally abusing a reporter. When Sporting News reporter Bob Pockrass asked Busch whether being on probation affected his performance on the track, Busch berated Pockrass.

"It refrains me from not beating the (expletive) out of you right now because you ask me stupid questions," Busch replied. "But since I'm on probation, I suppose that's improper to say as well."

Notwithstanding, the currant news that Kurt Busch is under investigation for domestic violence against his now ex-girlfriend Patricia Driscoll came as a shock to NASCAR Race Mom.

Equally as shocking is the severity of the details of the alleged assault. Driscoll, an executive for a small Washington, D.C.-based defense consulting firm and president of the Armed Forces Foundation, a nonprofit for veterans, has filed court documents asking that a judge order Busch to stay away from her and her young son Houston. She also is asking that Busch undergo a psychiatric evaluation and be evaluated by a certified domestic violence treatment agency.

The documents, filed Wednesday, state that Busch was despondent the night of September 26, 2014 after his poor performance at the qualifying session. In addition to verbal abuse, it is alleged that the NASCAR Driver grabbed Ms. Driscoll’s face and smashed her head three times against the wall next to the bed in his motorhome. Ms. Driscoll pushed him away and fled to another motorhome.

An attorney for Busch said he was cooperating with the investigation.

"This allegation is a complete fabrication by a woman who has refused to accept the end of a relationship and Mr. Busch vehemently denies her allegations in every respect," attorney Rusty Hardin said in an emailed statement.

NASCAR said it was aware of the situation and gathering information. However, Busch is cleared to race this weekend.

NASCAR Race Mom is concerned for all involved. Busch's talent has never been doubted. However his cantankerous temperament has scared away fans, sponsors, and rides with deep-pocketed owners Jack Roush and Penske fizzled.

If these allegations prove true, Busch who has seen a sports psychologist to learn to tame his emotions, might just find himself without a NASCAR Ride; a shame for this talented driver who can boast of twenty-five career Cup wins and the 2004 championship.

SPIKE TV’s Bar Rescue is a popular reality TV series. Host Jon Taffer, a long-time food and beverage industry consultant specializing in nightclubs and pubs, offers his professional expertise plus renovations and equipment —at no charge— to desperately failing bars in order to save them from closing.

In 2013, NASCAR Race Mom had the honor of meeting Gunnery Sergeant Samuel Deeds as Crown Royal honored this American Hero with naming rights to a NASCAR Sprint Cup Race. The “Crown Royal Presents the Samuel Deeds 400 at the Brickyard Powered by BigMachineRecords.com” was held on Sunday, July 28, 2013.

While deployed in Iraq, Gunnery Sgt. Samuel Deeds, a diehard NASCAR fan, dreamed of working in the sport after completing his service. However, in 2005, those dreams took a back seat when Deeds placed himself in harm’s way to save the lives of his fellow Marines.

Deeds came across an improvised explosive device (IED) while setting up a vehicle checkpoint. Upon seeing fellow Marines approaching, he exposed himself to the device, risking his own life to save others. He was severely injured and underwent more than 30 surgeries and procedures following the blast.

Three years later, while still recovering, Deeds’ heroic instincts took charge once again when he saved the lives of three individuals caught in a rip tide off the coast of North Carolina.

Now Crown Royal is teaming up with the 'Bar Rescue,' to honor heroes once again. Samuel Deeds will be featured during this very special Veteran’s Day marathon airing this Sunday, November 9th beginning at 5:00 p.m. ET.

Samuel will appear in a series of short videos alongside Taffer, during which he’ll talk about different aspect of his military career; from his time joining the military, to inspiring and guiding other veterans, to what it meant to be honored on a national level through Crown Royal’s “Your Hero’s Name Here” program!

Greg Pursley, the 2011 series champion heads to the one-mile oval in Avondale, Arizona, with a 21-point lead atop the championship standings. He'll be competing on a track where he has three wins, eight top fives and nine top 10s in 12 career starts. Still, Pursley maintains that he won't treat this race any differently.

"We're just going to do the same thing that we always do when preparing for a race," said the driver of the No. 26 Gene Price Motorsports/Star Nursery/Real Water Ford. "We're going there with our same set-up as if it were any other race." casinoaz_100-01_0.png Pursley can clinch his second championship by finishing 17th place or better in Thursday's event. He's only finished outside of the top 20 twice in 12 starts at PIR -- 24th in 2008

As a racing veteran closes in on the championship trophy, several rookies will be looking to learn and grow on a track that has become a launching pad for the sport’s stars in recent years. NASCAR Next driver Gray Gaulding earned his first NASCAR win in this event last November while fellow NASCAR Next driver Cole Custer, who established the national series record as youngest winner with his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series win this year, won the K&N Pro West race at Phoenix in February.

Ten rookies are currently entered in Thursday's season finale, including NASCAR K&N Pro Series East regulars Austin Hill and Jay Beasley.

"Going into this race, trying to win a championship with a lot of rookies there, we're going to have to be a little more careful," said Pursley. "We're going to have to pick our passing places, find a spot that we can run in where we're not too pressured from behind. I think we just have find a good spot to run in, ride out the first 80 laps, and then, if we're in a position to race for the win then we'll just have to be very careful about it."

The Phoenix race is the 14th and final event in 2014 for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West, as the West’s oldest stock car circuit wraps up its 61st season.

Will Busch Accomplish
Another Three-Race Sweep?

Kyle Busch races through Turn 4 during the NASCAR Nationwide series
auto race at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas,
(Nov. 1, 2014 - Larry Papke/AP Photo)
In May of 2014 Busch explained why he often races two to three times a weekend.

"I have a reputation that I'd race anything, anywhere, and I just like to race. That's what I grew up doing. I always grew up racing (on) Fridays and Saturdays. Whether it was legends cars, modifieds or late models. I was always racing, sometimes two divisions in a night. It was pretty fun, and I think that's why I just like to race so much. I think that's the reason that I race all three NASCAR divisions in one weekend now, is just to get out there and race as much as I can. I'd rather be out on the track than just sitting in the motor home. I feel like I can learn more by participating in the race than sitting there and watching it on TV. As you get older, sometimes things change in that respect, and your body can't handle that much stuff going on. But I'll keep doing it as long as I feel healthy enough to do it."

That notwithstanding, Busch’s ravenous race appetite also places him in the unique position of having the opportunity to accomplish a three-race weekend sweep. In 2001, Busch completed an unprecedented sweep of three national races in one week, with a victory in the Sprint Cup race at Bristol Motor Speedway. He hoisted a broom in Victory Lane, as he made his third visit there in just four days.

"I've been trying to do this since I got to NASCAR," said Busch at the time "I love Bristol and I love winning. And to do it for the first time ever in NASCAR, to sweep the weekend, man, that's pretty awesome."

Kyle Busch has the only three-race sweep since NASCAR expanded to three national series in 1995.

Friday, Kyle Busch passed German Quiroga during a two-lap shootout in the Camping World Truck race at the Texas Motor Speedway. Then today, Busch, who led 116 of 200 laps, finished 1 1/2 seconds ahead of Joey Logano for the Nationswide Series victory.

Therefore all NASCAR Fans will have their eyes on the "#18 Joe Gibbs M&Ms’ Toyota” to see if Kyle can harvest history again, and complete his second tripleheader sweep.

Busch has eleven NASCAR victories in Texas: seven in Nationwide; three in Truck Series;  and one in the Sprint Cup Series. Hopefully, the NASCAR Star has learned enough in his last two successful Texas races to secure a win tomorrow.
