"Every dollar raised will go to deserving organizations across the Charlotte region that make a meaningful difference in the lives of children."

Speedway Children’s Charities Gala Raises Record $1.5 Million Ahead of Coca-Cola 600
Emcees Clint Bowyer and Adam Alexander share stories with gala honoree and
NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Petty during the 43rd annual Speedway
Children's Charities Gala at Ten Tenths Motor Club on Wednesday.

In a powerful kickoff to Memorial Day race weekend, the 43rd annual Speedway Children’s Charities (SCC) Gala presented by Sonic Automotive, EchoPark Automotive and Sonic Powersports raised a record-breaking $1.5 million on Wednesday night, reinforcing a longstanding commitment to helping children in need across the Charlotte region and beyond.

The black-tie affair, held at the all-new Ten Tenths Motor Club, honored NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Petty, whose iconic style and legacy added flair and heart to an already electric evening. In a moment that brought the crowd to its feet, Petty auctioned off two of his legendary autographed hats — each fetching an incredible $43,000, a nod to his famed No. 43 car.

Guests were also treated to a gourmet plated dinner crafted by renowned chef and SCC supporter Bruce Moffett, followed by a high-energy performance from GRAMMY Award-winning Americana band Old Crow Medicine Show, capping off a night filled with generosity, entertainment and unforgettable memories.

Since its founding in 1982 by Speedway Motorsports, Speedway Children’s Charities has remained steadfast in its mission: to care for children in educational, financial, social and medical need in collaboration with partner organizations across the U.S. To date, SCC has distributed more than $72 million nationally to thousands of organizations dedicated to improving the lives of children.

“Tonight is a testament to the power of community and the good we can accomplish together to positively impact children in need,” said Speedway Children’s Charities Chairman Marcus Smith. “Every dollar raised will go to deserving organizations across the Charlotte region that make a meaningful difference in the lives of children. It’s hard to imagine a more worthy cause.”

Jeff Gordon’s Corvette For A Cure

Worldwide, 300,000 families each year hear the words: Your child has cancer. Every day in the United States more than 40 kids are diagnosed with cancer, and it remains the number one cause of death by disease. For those who survive their diagnosis, two-thirds will suffer long-term effects from their treatment including loss of hearing and sight, heart disease, secondary cancers, cognitive disabilities, infertility and more. But you can offer these families hope by investing in childhood cancer research with Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation.

In 17 years, more than 70,000 people have done just that, raising more than $15 million through the Corvette For A Cure program alone.

Last year, 92 percent of you who made contributions covered your transaction costs — sending more of your donations directly to the mission — and nearly 2,000 especially generous people even made an additional donation. Nearly 100 folks went the extra mile and chose to have their additional contributions recur monthly. THIS is how we beat childhood cancer together.

    Enter Here

Your donations fund innovations that improve quality of life, treatment programs that increase survivorship, and medical research dedicated to finding a cure for kids fighting cancer in your community and communities all over the world. They can’t do it without you.

Jeff Gordon’s Corvette For A Cure

Stronger, faster, smarter: Technology and engineering have evolved the Corvette into a modern marvel. Each time it seems the Corvette can’t get any better, it does. A lot has changed about the Corvette in 70 years, and a lot has changed about the fight against childhood cancer, too. Therapeutic discoveries and treatment advancements that make the fight stronger, faster, and smarter have been made possible by individuals dedicated to helping kids fight cancer. Imagine what your help could make happen over the next 70 years.

Chase Elliott Foundation “DESI9N TO DRIVE”

Chase Elliott Foundation “DESI9N TO DRIVE”

Returns to Home Track to Benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta

Chase Elliott Foundation “DESI9N TO DRIVE”

The Chase Elliott Foundation is partnering again with NAPA and Hendrick Motorsports in a return to Atlanta Motor Speedway for the seventh edition of its “DESI9N TO DRIVE” art collaboration with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (Children’s). Elliott's race car and race uniform, from head to toe, will feature designs by two cancer patients at Children's for the NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday, July 9.

“I’m excited for the return of the DESI9N TO DRIVE program to my home track since it really shines a light on the positive impact Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta has on the region,” said Elliott, a Dawsonville, Ga. native. “With the race being run at night, I hope it creates an even greater atmosphere than years past. I can’t wait for everyone to see these summer nights-themed designs come to life at the race track.”

This year's DESI9N TO DRIVE program received dozens of submissions from patients at the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Children's. The selected designs were sketched by 11-year-old Alex Corbin and 13-year-old Kayleb Duran-Rodriguez.

After being diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2022, Alex went through surgeries, radiation, chemo, MRI tests, therapy, and now wears hearing aids due to side effects of chemo treatments. His design shows his love for smores on warm summer nights and will be depicted on Elliott’s Alpinestars racing suit, gloves, shoes, and Arai helmet.

Kayleb, diagnosed with Leukemia in 2020, designed Elliott’s No. 9 NAPA Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 to show his love for campfires with friends and family.

“We are pleased to support this wonderful campaign and the kids at Children's  for another year,” said Marti Walsh, vice president of marketing, NAPA. “We’re so proud of our longstanding relationship with the Chase Elliott Foundation and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, and are excited to see the impact this event has on the greater Atlanta community every year.”

The DESI9N TO DRIVE program has raised and donated over $350,000 to Children’s over its first six years.

Elliott's racing uniform and a VIP race experience are being auctioned off via The NASCAR Foundation’s auction page on eBay beginning Wednesday, July 5, and closing Wednesday, July 12, following the Atlanta race.

New for this year is the ability for fans to donate directly to the fundraising campaign starting today at desi9ntodrive.org.

All auction proceeds will go to the Chase Elliott Foundation to benefit the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Children’s. In addition, a portion of the proceeds of each die-cast sold of the specially-designed race car will be donated with the auction proceeds and online donations.

“Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is thankful to collaborate with the Chase Elliott Foundation for the seventh year of DESI9N TO DRIVE,” said Beth Buursema, senior development director at the Children's Foundation. “We are very excited that two of our patients will have the chance to show off their creativity at an event that they will never forget. The Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center is one of the largest pediatric cancer and blood disorders programs in the nation, caring for more than 8,900 pediatric patients every year. This continued collaboration will bring hope to our patients while furthering our mission of making kids better today and healthier tomorrow.”

Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America Raises $1.7 Million for Victory Junction

Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America Raises $1.7 Million for Victory Junction

225 participants completed a week-long scenic journey, traveling 1,500 miles across Nevada and Utah to raise funds to send kids with chronic medical illnesses to camp at Victory Junction

Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America Raises $1.7 Million for Victory Junction

The Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America today announced it raised more than $1.7 million after completing its 27th Anniversary Ride, which took place April 29 – May 5, 2023. Funds raised directly benefit Victory Junction – a camp in Randleman, North Carolina servicing children with chronic medical illnesses. The Ride’s donation supports summer camperships, building projects and maintenance programs – including upkeep of the Kyle Petty Charity Ride Water Park.

Former NASCAR driver and racing analyst Kyle Petty led more than 125 motorcycles on a seven-day trek, covering over 1,500 miles across picturesque scenes in Nevada and Utah. The Ride started and ended in Salt Lake City, and made overnight stops in Ely, Tonopah, Las Vegas, Cedar City and Moab.

All along the Ride’s 2023 route, fans came from miles around to welcome the Ride, meet celebrity riders and support the cause. Highlights included visiting the Bonneville Salt Flats, venturing down the loneliest road in America (Highway 50), taking off-road Jeep tours in Tonopah, shutting down Las Vegas Boulevard with a police escort to The Mirage, lapping the track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, riding scenic Highway 12 and Highway 14, passing through Capitol Reef National Park, receiving the first-ever key to the city in Hanksville, exploring Legends Motorcycle Museum and so much more.

“We had a phenomenal Ride! But I knew all along that Nevada and Utah would not disappoint. These are two of the most beautiful states to ride motorcycles in,” said Petty. “Everywhere we stopped, we were greeted with open arms from fans near and far. And we also had a handful of Victory Junction campers come out to see us along our route. Seeing their excitement and gratitude for our riders is incredible. It really puts into perspective what and who we are riding for. All of our miles lead to all of their smiles!”

Victory Junction has served as the Ride’s primary beneficiary since its establishment by Petty and his family in 2004 in honor of his late son, Adam. Since it first began in 1995, the Ride has raised more than $21 million for Victory Junction and other children’s charities. As a result, the Ride has helped Victory Junction mobilize resources to provide over 115,000 camp experiences for children of all levels of abilities who are living with complex medical conditions at no cost to their families.

Funds were gathered from fans along the route, as part of the Ride’s “Small Change. Big Impact.” program, as well as donations made by generous sponsors, organizations, and the riders themselves.

“We could not do what we do each year on the Ride without the generosity of our sponsors,” said Petty. “Some of our sponsors have been a part of the Ride since the very beginning. They do so much more than just make contributions to support our cause. From providing gifts to our riders to funding meals, fuel and/or activities, they have a genuine passion for making the Ride a memorable experience for everyone involved.”

The 2023 Ride is made possible by presenting sponsor Cox Automotive, as well as Coca-Cola, Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Dodge Law, Racing Electronics, WinCraft Racing, FLUIDYNE Racing Products, Petty Family Foundation, Headbands of Hope, Piedmont Moving Systems, Wiley X, Blue Emu, Goody’s and Fuel Me.

This year’s Ride also featured several celebrity riders, including NASCAR Hall of Famer and seven-time champion Richard Petty; NASCAR legends Ken Schrader and Kenny Wallace; former NFL great and Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker; and NBC Sports NASCAR personality Rick Allen.

To look back at Petty and the riders’ journey, check out their posts on social media:
