Growing up as the son of #NASCAR Hall of Famer Bill Elliott appears to have prepared Chase Elliott to emulate his father success. He was signed by Hendrick five years ago at the tender age of fifteen.
Chase quickly demonstrated that he possessed similar talent to his father, who won the 1988 Cup Series championship. The younger Elliott scored a Camping World Truck Series victory in 2013 and the next year took the Xfinity Series title. That made him the first rookie to claim a national division crown.
This year's class of rookies has been declared the most esteemed crop in a decade. Impressively, Chase recently seized the lead in the Sunoco Rookie of the Year standing from another second generation driver, Ryan Blaney.
