Job Opportunity at Charlotte Motor Speedway #NASCAR

Charlotte Motor Speedway is seeking an experienced, creative SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER to support marketing and publicity efforts for its aggressive schedule of events which includes three Monster Energy NASCAR Cup race weekends, two NHRA race weekends, two national car shows, World of Outlaws race events and other secondary events throughout the year.

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to plan and execute engaging social media posts and campaigns, serve as a liaison between the speedway and key industry partners and adhere to brand standards across all social media platforms. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must, as is experience in photography/videography and editing. A familiarity with social media monitoring tools like SproutSocial and HootSuite is strongly desired. The ideal candidate will be a creative, self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a team environment, including management of department interns. A minimum of three years of experience in the corporate or sports social media field are also required.

Other requirements include Microsoft Office computer skills, the ability to work evenings and weekends, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in public relations, marketing or a related field. The ideal candidate will also have an expert knowledge of AP Style and the abilities to work effectively and efficiently on deadline and in high-stress situations.

Charlotte Motor Speedway is searching for an efficient, productive and proactive self-starter who is passionate about his or her duties and willing to put forth the extra effort to achieve excellence and exceed expectations.

Duties will include but not be limited to: · Develop, plan and execute effective social media strategies and campaigns
  • · Generate creative and engaging social media content (written, photo, video) for all social media platforms covering Charlotte Motor Speedway, zMAX Dragway and The Dirt Track at Charlotte
  • · Monitor social media trends and create topical, relevant speedway-centric content
  • · Stay on top of the latest social media opportunities and make recommendations about new platforms
  • · Be responsive and engaged with fans asking questions or commenting on social media
  • · Manage social media needs of speedway partners, working with Corporate Sales department to plan and execute all deliverables within the scope of the speedway’s overall social media plans
  • · Track ROI on social media posts/campaigns and make suggestions to improve the overall effectiveness of the speedway’s social media
  • · Interview, hire and train social media interns throughout the year
  • · Cultivate strong relationships with social media contacts at NASCAR, race teams and news outlets to help coordinate shared efforts and extend the reach of speedway posts
  • · Work closely with speedway’s PR and marketing teams to amplify appropriate messages regarding announcements, news, updates, etc.
  • · Lead event-time social media team during race weekends




The fifth Paint Pit Wall Pink event featured a collection of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina employees helping an all-star cast of dignitaries and breast cancer survivors in adorning the speedway's wall with a bright shade of pink to salute breast cancer awareness.
