Bold.org Honors Black History Month

During Year of Giving Campaign with $10,000 Scholarships from Bubba Wallace and JuJu Smith-Schuster

Bold.org, the scholarship platform committed to fighting student debt through philanthropy, continues its Year of Giving Campaign by honoring Black History Month. For the campaign’s February chapter, Bold.org partners with NASCAR Driver, Bubba Wallace for the Bubba Wallace Live to be Different Scholarship and Pittsburgh Steelers Wide Receiver, JuJu Smith-Schuster for the JuJu Foundation Scholarship.

As NASCAR’s lone Black driver, Bubba Wallace has been instrumental in fighting for equality and diversity. Wallace graduated from NASCAR’s “Drive for Diversity” program and has been breaking barriers ever since. In 2020, his activism banned confederate flags from NASCAR races. Throughout his career, Bubba has made racing history as one of the most successful NASCAR drivers. His commitment to diversity and inclusion goes beyond the realms of NASCAR. The Live to be Different Scholarship is an extension of his non-profit supporting and empowering underserved youths to form their dreams into reality. To be considered for the scholarship, undergraduates and high school students are asked to share an experience of overcoming adversity.

JuJu Smith-Schuster is an all-star NFL receiver. On the field, he is the youngest player to reach 2,500 career-receiving yards. He is also the only player to complete two offensive touchdowns for 97 yards. Off the field, JuJu supports youth through his charity, the JuJu Foundation. Since its launch in 2019, the foundation has been committed to philanthropic efforts, primarily to support children in need. His next philanthropic effort is the JuJu Foundation Scholarship. The scholarship will help two undergraduate or high school students who face financial burdens, awarding them $5,000 each toward their education.

Bold.org CEO and Founder, Dror Liebenthal, says: “Partnering with impact-minded athletes at the tops of their games like Bubba Wallace and JuJu Smith-Schuster during Black History Month for our Year of Giving Campaign is an honor. We’re thrilled to continue fighting for universal access to quality education with them.”

JuJu Smith-Schuster says: “Since founding the JuJu Foundation, we have provided incredible opportunities to support youth and lift the spirits of those in need. This partnership with Bold.org is no different. These scholarships will really help individuals who need it, and we hope it takes some of the financial burden of college off of them.”

Bubba Wallace says: “Live to be Different is all about embracing differences and diversity. The Live to be Different Scholarship is part of my larger life mission to create unity, compassion and understanding among our communities. Partnering with Bold.org for this scholarship is an incredible opportunity to help students overcome their adversities going to college."

The campaign follows a philanthropic 2020 at Bold.org when the organization created hundreds of brand new scholarships with partner organizations and individual donors to fight student debt. Bold.org continues its efforts with the Year of Giving Campaign. The campaign is Bold.org’s commitment to creating $10,000 scholarships each month alongside impact-focused public figures and brands. The initiative kicked off in January with EDM producer and DJ, 3LAU, and will announce its largest scholarship yet for $100,000 in December. To join Bold.org in fighting America’s student debt crisis, donors can create their own custom scholarship by creating a profile at www.bold.org.
