Irwindale Speedway, in partnership with the TSC Alliance, is proud to announce that KTLA 5 News personality, Mark Kriski, will serve as the honorary starter for the 20th Step Forward to Cure TSC Walk. The event, organized to bring awareness to tuberous sclerosis complex, will take place at Irwindale Speedway on Saturday, May 14th at 10:00am.

“On behalf of everyone at Irwindale Speedway and the TSC Alliance, we would like to welcome Mr. Kriski as the honorary starter for the 2022 Step Forward to Cure TSC Walk” said Irwindale Speedway & Event Center President Tim Huddleston. “His zeal for life is contagious and we could not think of a better person to join this incredible cause.”

Kriski, a fixture at KTLA 5 for more than twenty years, is no stranger to Irwindale Speedway. Kriski has, on multiple occasions, competed in charity races at the speedway benefiting a variety of charities and organizations.

As honorary starter, Kriski will kick off the day’s events by waving the green flag for the 10:00am walk. In addition to various booths, raffle items, and TSC educational opportunities, the route will be lined with race cars, teams and drivers, as participants walk down the 1/8 mile Irwindale Dragstrip and circle the 1/2 mile and 1/3 mile twin ovals of Irwindale Speedway. Following the day’s activities, will be TSC Alliance Night at the Races. The night will consist of NASCAR short track racing featuring auctions and raffles benefiting the TSC Alliance. The grand finale of the event will be a demolition derby and fireworks show.

“There are no words to describe how much it means to partner with the TSC Alliance to put on this incredible event” said Lisa Huddleston, Co-Owner of Irwindale Speedway & Event Center. “I hope this is the first of many to come.”

Per the TSC Alliance website, Tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is a genetic disorder that causes tumors to form in various organs, primarily the brain, eyes, heart, kidneys, skin and lungs. It’s also the leading genetic cause of both epilepsy and autism. Nearly 1 million people worldwide are estimated to have TSC, with approximately 50,000 in the United States.
