#NASCAR Waiver Application Pending
Chase Elliott's start to NASCAR's annual West Coast Swing following Daytona got off to a good start with a runner-up finish at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif. The race marked the final time NASCAR will run on the 2-mile D-oval.
However, prior to heading to the next swing stop in Las Vegas, Chase suffered a leg injury while snowboarding in Colorado.
Elliott, the 2020 Cup Series champion, suffered the injury to his left leg today while snowboarding in Colorado. After a successful surgery, he's expected to miss six weeks before rejoining the series. Chase took to Twitter on Vegas race day to express his thanks for all the support.
Chase underwent a successful surgery on a fractured tibia, Hendrick Motorsports team president and general manager Jeff Andrews shared at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Hendrick Motorsports has applied to NASCAR for a waiver for Elliott to remain eligible for the playoffs. Elliott is an eighteen (18) -time winner and the 2020 champion in the Cup Series. He has reached the Championship 4 in each of the last three seasons.
