Hendrick Motorsports - Inside the Numbers

Fast Facts and Stats from the 2022 Season

With the end of championship weekend at Phoenix Raceway, another season of NASCAR Cup Series racing has come to a close. While the bid for a third straight title did not materialize for Hendrick Motorsports, the season did bring about several notable stat lines for the organization and their four entries.

Check out these statistical highlights from the year in racing action with the 14-time Cup Series champions.

Hendrick Motorsports' 2022 highlights

  • With 11 wins in 2022, Hendrick Motorsports posted the most wins or was tied for the most wins in a season among Cup teams for the 17th season.
  • The ninth time in history that the organization has won at least 11 races (second consecutive season as well).
  • The Darlington Raceway playoff opener marked the team's 1,300th Cup Series event. Hendrick Motorsports is the fourth team to hit that mark and ended the season at 1,309 races.
  • At Sonoma Raceway in June, the organization surpassed 100,000 miles led in the Cup Series. Overall, the company has led 101,623.9 miles.
  • This was the fifth season that all four drivers made the playoffs, the most of any four-car operation. All four entries advanced to the Round of 12 as well.
  • The second straight season Hendrick Motorsports has won the regular season championship (as shown with Chase Elliott in the photo below).

Kyle Larson

  • With 13 top-five finishes, the No. 5 team ranked second in the Cup Series in this category.
  • Since the start of 2021, Larson and crew chief Cliff Daniels have visited victory lane 13 times. Their 13 wins together are the fourth-most of any active driver/crew chief pairing.
  • Larson's 19 top-10 finishes in 2022 were the fourth-most of any driver in the field.
  • The No. 5 team reached the Championship 4 for the owner's championship with their win at Homestead-Miami Speedway - their third of win of the season.

Chase Elliott

  • The driver of the No. 9 was first wins with five and in laps lead with 857 circuits out front.
  • His 12.47 average finish was the best in the Cup Series.
  • For the third straight season, Elliott earned a spot in the driver’s Championship 4. He is the only driver to finish in the top four in points in the last three seasons.
  • Elliott finished as the highest running driver from Hendrick Motorsports in 14 of the 36 races during the 2022 season. This was highlighted by a two-top streak of five races from Nashville Superspeedway in June to Pocono Raceway in July.

William Byron

  • His 746 laps led were the third-best in the Cup Series and the most he's led in a single season.
  • Byron's two-win season marked his first multi-win campaign in the sport's top series.
  • The No. 24 pit crew's average four-tire pit stop time of 11.879 seconds was the sixth-best in the field.
  • Byron's Round of 8 appearance is his deepest playoff run to date.

Alex Bowman

  • Bowman's win at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in March was his fifth win since the start of 2021, which is the third-best of any driver in the field.
  • For the fifth straight year, he started on the front row for the DAYTONA 500.
  • Bowman has reached the Round of 12 every year he has been at Hendrick Motorsports - five seasons.
  • Ives and Bowman’s time together ends with seven wins - sixth-best on the active driver/crew chief pairing list.
