Wood Brothers Racing 75 Years

The #NASCAR Hall of Fame exhibit will celebrate the 75th anniversary of Wood Brothers Racing.

Wood Brothers Racing, NASCAR’s oldest continually operating team, was founded in 1950 by NASCAR Hall of Fame Class of 2012 inductee Glenn Wood

Still based where it began 75 years ago in Stuart, Virginia, the Wood Brothers Racing team has a remarkable story that combines Glenn Wood’s original vision with the technological genius of younger brother Leonard Wood (Class of 2013), the ongoing contributions from three generations of family members and an unshakeable loyalty to Ford Motor Co.

Since its inception, Wood Brothers Racing has won 101 NASCAR Cup Series races, including five Daytona 500s. Those 101 victories were accumulated by 20 different drivers, including the like of David Pearson (Class of 2011), Cale Yarborough (Class of 2012) and Donnie Allison (Class of 2024). In each of the last eight decades, the Wood Brothers Racing team has won at least one NASCAR race.

The new NASCAR Hall of Fame exhibit will celebrate the 75th anniversary of Wood Brothers Racing while recognizing its on-track success, its history of innovation, NASCAR Hall of Fame connections and its multi-generational family leadership. The exhibit is now open to the public in the NASCAR Hall of Fame’s Great Hall and will remain on display for one year.
