Darlington & Mahindra ROXOR Strike Deal

The Title Sponsorship of the NASCAR Xfinity Series Race

 

As part of the Official Throwback Weekend of NASCAR, Darlington Raceway and Mahindra ROXOR partner on the title sponsorship of the spring NASCAR Xfinity Series race on Saturday, May 7. The official name of the Xfinity Series race will be the Mahindra ROXOR 200.

 

“Mahindra’s American-assembled ROXOR is one of the toughest off-road vehicles ever made, so we are proud to welcome them as a partner at the track Too Tough To Tame,” said Kerry Tharp, Darlington Raceway President. “There are brands that align with who we are as a track and the globally recognized Mahindra is one of those brands. We look forward to the future stars of the Xfinity Series showcasing their skill in the Mahindra ROXOR 200 as part of the Official Throwback Weekend of NASCAR.”

 

The new Mahindra ROXOR, a side-by-side unlike any other, is a workhorse. Since the launch in November 2021, the off-road vehicle is proving to be a popular alternative to conventional, plastic-bodied, light-duty SXSs that aren’t built to endure the rigors of heavy-duty, everyday work. The ROXOR is strong and durable with a steel body, boxed steel frame, Mahindra turbo diesel engine, and beltless, heavy-duty transmission.

Mahindra Ag North America is an anchor sponsor for Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) and its No. 14 NASCAR Cup Series team and driver Chase Briscoe. The multiyear partnership with the championship-winning NASCAR team co-owned by NASCAR Hall of Famer Tony Stewart and industrialist Gene Haas features Mahindra Tractors, a brand of Mahindra Ag North America, on Briscoe’s No. 14 Ford Mustang. The red-and-black No. 14 Mahindra Tractors Ford Mustang will showcase a throwback paint scheme in the Darlington 400 Cup race on Sunday, May 8.

#NASCAR Schedule for the Triple Header at Darlington

The Official Throwback Weekend of NASCAR

 

Camping World Trucks return to the racing action this weekend as the opening act for a triple header at the track nicknamed ‘Too Tough to Tame.” 

 

Darlington's difficult nature is due to its egg shape, which stemmed from a logistical problem as the track was being built in 1949. The track property was purchased from farmer Sherman Ramsey. Retired racer, Harold Brasington bought the parcel of land from Ramsey, but promised his new speedway would not disturb the minnow pond that was on the property. Brasington built the east side of the track just like he wanted but in order not to upset Ramsey, he had to tighten it up on the west end, giving it the egg-shaped design.

NASCAR Cup Series Dives into the Monster Mile

DuraMAX Drydene 400 presented by RelaDyne at Dover Motor Speedway

 

Next up today on the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series schedule is Dover Motor Speedway for Sunday’s DuraMAX Drydene 400 presented by RelaDyne (3 p.m. ET on FS1, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio); the 11th race of the year.

 

Aptly nicknamed the Monster Mile, Dover Motor Speedway is a one-mile concrete paved oval located in Dover, Delaware. Dover Motor Speedway, originally known as Dover Downs International Speedway, has hosted 103 NASCAR Cup Series races dating back to the inaugural event on July 6, 1969. The first Dover Cup Series race was won by NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Petty driving a Petty Enterprises Ford (115.772 mph, 02:35:28). Petty actually won the first two Cup events at the track (1969, 1970).

 

In total, the 103 NASCAR Cup Series races at Dover Motor Speedway have produced 42 different pole winners and 39 different race winners. NASCAR Hall of Famer David Pearson leads the series in poles at Dover Motor Speedway with six (1969, 1973 sweep, 1974, 1975, 1981). Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin leads all active series drivers in poles at Dover with four (2012, 2013, 2015, 2019). Seven of the 42 NASCAR Cup Series Dover Motor Speedway pole winners are active this weekend.

Recently retired driver, Jimmie Johnson, holds the NASCAR Cup Series record for the most wins at Dover Motor Speedway with 11 victories (2002 sweep, 2005 Playoffs, 2009 sweep, 2010 Playoffs, Spring of 2012, 2013 Playoffs, Spring of 2014, Spring of 2015, and Spring of 2017). Three drivers are tied for the most wins among active competitors at Dover – Kevin Harvick, Martin Truex Jr. and Kyle Busch – each have three wins. Of the 39 different NASCAR Cup Series winners at Dover Motor Speedway, nine are active this weekend.
