Kyle and Pattie honor their son Adam
Approximately 175 motorcycle enthusiasts, NASCAR fans and Victory Junction supporters including Kyle Petty and former NFL running back Herschel Walker, will hit the road on May 7 through May 14, 2011 for the 17th Anniversary Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America.

Adam Petty was killed during practice for a NASCAR race at New Hampshire International SpeedwayFor the last seven years, Victory Junction has been the Ride’s primary beneficiary. The camp was founded by Kyle and his wife, Pattie, to honor their son Adam. Adam Petty was killed during practice for a NASCAR race at New Hampshire International Speedway. Located on 84 acres in Randleman, N.C., the Victory Junction camp opened its doors in 2004 to enrich the lives of children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses by creating camping experiences that are memorable, fun, empowering, physically safe and medically sound.

"May is a hard month and it always is. Adam went on the ride with us from the very beginning,” Kyle informed. “When you lose a child, or you lose a son, it’s pretty hard on a family. We look at the camp and we look at the ride as one. We lost one son but we gained about 12,000 other kids that are part of our family. . . . being on the ride has a healing effect.”

When NASCAR Race Mom asked Mr. Petty what the average West Coast short track racer and/or fan could do to help the cause, he did not hesitate with his answer.

“We are excited about a new way to donate this year. Just text “RIDE” to 27722 to donate $10.00 to the Kyle Petty Charity Ride and help send kids to Victory Junction! When you confirm the text, the donation will appear on your bill.”

Petty went on to report that the Charity Ride has raised nearly $14 million in its sixteen years and shows no signs of slowing down. You can donate all year long.
