Race Recap for the Kobalt 400 - Truex Wins; Busch vs. Logano

Race Recap for the Kobalt 400 - Truex Wins; Busch vs. Logano
Truex managed to win all three stages of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series feature despite Brad Keselowski’s Fast Ford.

Yeah and congratulations to Martin Truex Jr. for his dominate win in Las Vegas. Truex managed to win all three stages of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series feature despite Brad Keselowski’s Fast Ford. That should be the big LVMS story . . . . . but of course this is NASCAR . . . .

The two drivers who manage to steal the spotlight after the checkered flag flew proved to be Kyle Busch and Joey Logano. If you know NASCAR Race Mom, you know that she is not a Logano fan. However, it would appear in this off-track brawl, ‘Rowdy’ was the aggressor.

Busch managed to slide across the finish line, in pit lane, for a twenty-second place points day.

During the last laps of the Kobalt 400, Busch and Logano sliced and diced as they maneuvered to miss the slowing vehicle of Keselowski. The battle was for their place within the top-five . . . that was when Logano and Busch tangled.

Logano would bring the No. 22 home in the fourth position, which marked a sixteen-position gain over his lowest running position of the afternoon.

Logano’s Outlook:

"I don't know. We were just racing hard there at the end. I was underneath him on the backstretch and he tried to crash me into the corner getting underneath Brad (Keselowski) there and at that point I was just trying to get through the corner. I was sideways all the way through and got into him. Nothing intentional. I understand his frustration, he crashed. The same thing could have happened into (Turn) 3 what he did to me." Logano detailed when asked why the fight occurred.

Busch’s Outlook:

"I got dumped. (He) flat-out just drove straight in the corner and wrecked me." Kyle reported as the cause of his anger. "That's how Joey races, so he's going to get it."

NRM Opinion:

I am probably not the typical NASCAR fan. Any form of retaliation, especially off-track, such as the flood of fists clad in yellow race suits yesterday, has no place in the sport I love . . . . . . It is interesting to me that no one was called to the NASCAR Hauler.

NASCAR Race Mom still remembers how NASCAR suspended Matt Kenneth for two Cup Series events in November of 2015 for his role in a crash with Joey Logano at Martinsville Speedway. Will there be penalties later in the week?
