Gearing Up for ‘Bo's Extravaganza’ at John Schneider Studios
When they came up with the idea for "The Dukes of Hazzard," it was originally an independent film called "The Moonrunners." It was one of those drive-in movies; low-budget, Southern redneck film. Then Gy Waldron took the concept to Warner Brothers.
"Wouldn't this make a good TV show?" Gy Waldron
So they went back to Atlanta and auditioned. John Schneider got the part of Bo Duke and the rest, as they say, is history.
The Dukes of Hazzard, an action-comedy television series, aired on CBS from January 26, 1979, to February 8, 1985; for a total of 147 episodes spanning seven seasons.
Now THAT'S what I'm talking about! We're gearing up for Bo's Extravaganza here at JSS. CNH320=20% off! Get your tickets today at https://t.co/OBJ4SOx58T pic.twitter.com/pXoYMTz8at— John Schneider (@John_Schneider) March 28, 2018
The General Lee (sometimes referred to as simply "the General") was the name given to the 1969 orange Dodge Charger driven in the television series. Known for its signature horn, police chases, and acrobatic jumps, the General Lee’s escapades were the result of a slew of stunt men, and not “them Duke Boys.”
John Schneider, star of ‘Tyler Perry's The Haves and the Have Nots’ is still the beloved "Bo Duke" to millions of fans.
Although it was Schneider voice yelling the "yeehaaa" in the series opening credits, he had never jumped the General Lee.
Well, that is about to change. On his birthday, April 7th, John will jump the iconic General Lee over a Louisiana swamp after a Duke-style chase with NASCAR legend Carl Edwards! What could go wrong?
Celebs in Attendance:
- Tom Wopat (Luke Duke)
- Carl Edwards (NASCAR)
- Renee Lawless (Tyler Perry’s The Haves and the Have Nots)
- Peter Parros (Tyler Perry’s The Haves and the Have Nots)
- and more…

If I lived anywhere near Louisiana – you know I would be there!
