Dale Jr., Kane Brown, and Justin Allgaier Host Virtual Storytime in Support of Dollar General Literacy Foundation

The Dollar General Literacy Foundation, Unilever, and the three personalities from sports and entertainment have teamed up to share some of their favorite children’s books through a new Story Time online video series.

NASCAR Hall of Fame driver and current NBC Sports analyst Dale Earnhardt Jr., country music superstar Kane Brown, and NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Justin Allgaier each read aloud a favorite children’s book, with the videos available for viewing on the Dollar General Literacy Foundation’s website at dgliteracy.org.

Stories featured in the three-video series include Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes by Eric Litwin and illustrated by James Dean, read by Dale Earnhardt Jr.; Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus by Mo Willems, read by Kane Brown; and Giggle, Giggle, Quack by Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin, read by Justin Allgaier.

All three are dads themselves.

“Words are powerful. Reading can help us learn new words with the turn of a page,” said Brown. “We can visit faraway lands, take amazing adventures, learn incredible new things, or even read the words to one of your favorite songs. So, take a few minutes every day to exercise your mind and read.”

The Dollar General Literacy Foundation’s mission is to support programs across the country that are empowering teachers and extending hope to students as they pursue their educational goals and achieve their dreams.

“Reading is an important part of my everyday life, whether it’s for work, learning something new, or most importantly reading to my daughters,” shared Allgaier. “Reading unlocks a world of endless possibilities.”

The Dollar General Literacy Foundation is shining a light on literacy with The Yellow Glasses Project

The Dollar General Literacy Foundation is shining a light on literacy with The Yellow Glasses Project, an awareness campaign aimed to foster a brighter future by funding educational initiatives. Now through September 8 (or while supplies last), customers at more than 17,400 Dollar General stores across the 46 states in which the Company operates can purchase a pair of yellow sunglasses for $2 each. Each Yellow Glasses purchase provides 100 percent of the proceeds directly to the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.
