NASCAR and Daytona International Speedway announced a new twist to the storied, high-banked tri-oval/infield road course with the addition of a chicane at the exit of the NASCAR turn four that will provide competitors with yet another passing zone. The new chicane now creates a 14-turn, 3.61-mile layout (from the 3.56-mile/12 turn) on the storied DAYTONA Road Course, which, for the first time in history, will play host to NASCAR’s three top national series, along with the ARCA Menards Series

The General Tire 100 at the DAYTONA Road Course (5 p.m., MAVTV / TrackPass / MRN) will be the 12th race of the ARCA Menards Series. Road course races tend to bring out new faces to the series, and the ARCA Menards Series is no different.

Canadian Andrew Ranger, a three-time NASCAR Pinty’s Series champion, is the only driver to win more than one ARCA Menards road course race. He dropped in and swept the events at New Jersey Motorsports Park from 2011-14. Ranger won four of his five road-course starts in the series including his 2011 debut at New Jersey.

Parker Chase hopes to follow in Ranger’s ‘Tire Tracks.’ Chad Bryant Racing announced Parker, 19, will pilot the team’s No. 22 VerticalBridge/Enertech Resources Ford. The Texas native, who has driven several late model events for the team as a development diver, is coming off his first IMSA podium in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Series at Wisconsin’s Road America. Chase also competed on Kyle Busch’s team in the 2020 Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona in IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship in the GTD Series.

ARCA’s first road course race was October 19, 1958 at Meadowdale International Raceway outside of Chicago, Illinois. Fred Lorenzen was the winner. Meadowdale held two more races, in 1960 and 1964, won by Nelson Stacy and Elmer Musgrave, respectively.

Other winners include:
  • Ken Schrader (Heartland Park),
  • Darrell Waltrip (Heartland Park)
  • Jack Bowsher (Mid-Ohio)
  • Justin Allgaier (New Jersey)
  • Patrick Long (New Jersey)
  • Casey Roderick (New Jersey)
  • Kyle Weatherman (New Jersey)
  • Parker Kligerman (New Jersey)
  • Justin Marks (Palm Beach International)
  • Chris Buescher (Road America)
  • AustinTheriault (Road America)
  • Bob Schacht (St. Louis International)
  • Scott Lagasse (Streets of Des Moines)
  • Curtis Turner (Virginia International Raceway)
  • John Finger (Watkins Glen).

Justin Marks won the only ARCA Menards Series road course race in the rain, in 2010 at Palm Beach.

Mopar®, Chrysler Canada’s service, parts and customer-care brand, is proud to announce that Quebec-born Andrew Ranger will be the driver of the No. 28 Mopar entry for the 2014 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series season.

Ranger is no stranger to the Canadian Tire Series circuit. At 27 years of age, he’s already won the series championship twice (2007 and 2009), run a total of 58 races with 12 poles, 53 top-10 finishes, 37 top fives and 17 wins. The Roxton Pond, Quebec native’s new No.28 Mopar machine will be built by a championship-winning organization – DJK Racing – home to two-time Canadian Tire Series champion D.J. Kennington.

“This is a great opportunity for me to race a full season and compete to win a third championship,” said Ranger. “I’m really looking forward to working with Mopar and DJK Racing to put the 28 ahead of the competition.”

“I’m very excited to be part of this new partnership and having an even larger relationship with Mopar,” said Kennington. “Our DJK Racing team has won two championships with Mopar power and we take great pride in what we’ve accomplished. It’s terrific news for the series to have Andrew Ranger back full-time and I’m looking forward to competing against him every weekend.”

Mopar is synonymous with racing and the storied brand has been ingrained in Canada’s motorsports scene for decades. It has been a major part of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series since its inception and the CASCAR Series which preceded it. In 2013, a Dodge won all 12 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series races. Of the 60 total competitors throughout the season, 42 were Dodge-bodied and Scott Steckly - in the Canadian Tire Dodge - won his third series title.

Mopar is also the title sponsor of the Canadian Superbike Championship and sponsor of the two biggest IHRA Drag Race events in North America: the Mopar Rocky Mountain Nitro Jam Nationals in Edmonton, Alberta and the Mopar Nitro Jam Nationals at Grand Bend, Ontario.

“Mopar is extremely excited to announce that Andrew Ranger will be the new driver of the Mopar-sponsored Dodge Challenger in the (NASCAR Canadian Tire) Series,” said Jim Kiritsis, Senior Manager, National Service & Parts for Mopar Canada. “Having Andrew as our wheel-man in the car embossed with the Omega ‘M’ will give us a presence at the track that is sure to be nothing short of epic. Additionally, we are thrilled to be teaming up with DJK Racing, a winning car and Mopar engine builder. These proven winners embody the Mopar adage, ‘Authentic Performance.’”

In 2009 Andrew Ranger was voted the Most Popular NASCAR Canadian Tire Series driver which coincided with a third-place finish in the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Montreal’s Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Last season, Ranger competed in three Canadian Tire Series events which included a win at Circuit ICAR in Mirabel, Quebec and two other top-three finishes.
