The Greats Didn't Make It On Talent Alone

The new NASCAR Home Tracks spot aired yesterday during the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race from Daytona, live on TNT. “Do Your Part,” pays homage to our local and regional series. It encourages fans to see and feel what NASCAR is all about in their hometowns. I also encourage you to experience NASCAR in person at your local track.

Attending a NASCAR race is a full senses experience. The bright colors; the roars of the engines and the screaming fans; the smell of brake dust and rubber; the taste of a cold beverage on a smoking hot day spent in the sun with your friends and feeling the rumble in your seat as the cars charge past. There is nothing in the world like attending a NASCAR Sprint Cup race in person. You'll be hooked.

During His Rookie Season

Last year, as part of Earnhardt Ganassi Racing (EGR), Kyle Larson competed for Revolution Racing in the NASCAR-sanctioned K&N Pro Series East, a regional touring and feeder series. He collected two wins, one pole, eight top-fives, and twelve top-tens.

The 2012 fourteen race NASCAR K&N Pro Series East championship came down to the last lap of the season and when the smoke cleared at Rockingham Speedway, rookie Kyle Larson won his first NASCAR title! Larson, from Elk Grove, Calif., also won the series’ Sunoco Rookie of the Year Award.

Larson moved on to the NASCAR Nationwide Series. Over the past seven races, Sunoco Rookie of the Year standings leader, Kyle Larson has continued his tear, finishing in the top 10 in all seven races. Last Friday at Kentucky he finished seventh for the second straight week.

Through the first 15 races of the 2013 season, he has four top-five finishes and ten top-ten finishes, including a pair of runner-up performances at Bristol and Michigan. Larson will make his second national series Daytona start this Friday in the Subway Firecracker 250. In the 2013 season opener, he finished 13th. In the rookie of the year race he has 200 points, 51 and 56 points in front of his two closest competitors, Alex Bowman and Nelson Piquet Jr.; very impressive for the twenty-year-old.
