Driver’s Offer Advice about Atlanta Motor Speedway

Listen to Noah Gragson – Spinning out in Lap 1 is “no Bueno.”

Last year’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series winner, Christopher Bell has very constructive advice. You have to have a soft right foot. This place is extremely hard on tires . . . you have to take care of it.

Clint Bowyer reports that you have to have a 'good balance' race car.

While Alex Bowman believes you have to be really patient and understand tire management.

Noah Gragson and the No. 18 Safelite AutoGlass team head to Atlanta Motor Speedway for stop two on the 2018 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedule. In last year’s race at Atlanta, the rookie driver overcame an early spin to post a 14th-place finish in his first mile-and-a-half start for Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM).

“I have a lot of confidence going into Atlanta this year driving the Safelite AutoGlass/Switch Tundra. Last year, in 2017, I felt like I ended pretty strong on the mile-and-a-half tracks — got a couple stage wins and led a few laps at Las Vegas and Texas. I really feel comfortable heading to Atlanta and working with Rudy Fugle. Rudy and Christopher Bell last year swept all three stages and won the race. So, I’m excited to get to Atlanta and get back to mile-and-a-half racing.”

Spencer Davis:
Driver, No. 51 Rheem Toyota

Spencer Davis: Driver, No. 51 Rheem Toyota #NASCAR

Spencer Davis finished seventh last weekend at Daytona International Speedway in his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) start. The Dawsonville, Ga., native considers Atlanta his home track. He is hoping a win at Atlanta will sound the famous siren atop the Dawsonville Pool Room, a tradition started when fellow Dawsonville residents Bill and Chase Elliott win NASCAR events.

“I had a lot of fun in my first truck start. There at the end having Kyle (Busch) talking to my spotter Rick (Carelli) was a big help. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the storybook ending as we had throughout the race, but I’m really excited with a seventh-place finish.” Davis reported.

“Rheem has been a long-time supporter of mine. They were actually my first sponsor when I started racing big cars. It’s going to be cool to have them on board again and I’m thankful for the opportunity. Hopefully it grows into more races because I’ve gotten some wins for them in the past and hopefully we can continue that too.”

Kyle Busch:
Driver, No. 4 Cessna Toyota

Kyle Busch: Driver, No. 4 Cessna Toyota #NASCAR

Team Owner Kyle Busch will make his first NCWTS start of the season at Atlanta in the No. 4 Cessna Tundra. He will also be behind the wheel of the No. 4 at Kansas Speedway, as well as the No. 51 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway and Pocono Raceway. All of Busch’s races will be sponsored by Textron Aviation with the Cessna and Beechcraft brands.

Of the seventy-one (71) starts Busch has made in his own KBM Tundras, this will be the first time he has driven the No. 4. This number has won two driver’s and owner’s championships, but not with Busch behind the wheel. He also has yet to win at Atlanta driving his own KBM Tundra. His four previous wins were all in trucks owned by Billy Ballew. His best finish at Atlanta in a KBM Tundra is second (2010 and 2012).

“Last year was the first time a KBM Tundra won at Atlanta when Christopher Bell won all three stages and the race. Atlanta was the last track on our list where we hadn’t won a truck race and we finally got to check that one off in 2017. It is really cool for our organization to have a win at every track on the schedule — especially considering we haven’t been around that long.

“My first Legends car back at the bullring was the No. 4, so it’ll bring back a lot of memories racing the No. 4 Cessna Tundra this weekend. It’s hard to believe this will be the first time I’ve driven the No. 4 at KBM, considering the history it has with our organization. I’ve won truck races at KBM with 18, 46 and 51 on the door and I’m hoping to be able to add the No. 4 to that list by getting a win with Marcus Richmond (crew chief) and his team Saturday at Atlanta.”
