On September 14-15, the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West will be joined by the Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy USA and the Discount Tire/Air Power Invitational for two days of great road racing.
The NASCAR K&N Pro Series West, founded in 1954, showcases up-and-coming talent and utilizes cars similar to those that race in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. It is considered the last stepping-stone to the “big-time” NASCAR series. California’s Greg Pursley, who was the series champion in 2011, has won here for the past three years and will be looking to add a fourth win in 2013. Park City’s Michael Self, a 22-year-old who got his start racing karts and attending the Ford Racing School at Miller Motorsports Park, is currently third in the points and hoping to get a victory at his home track.
The weekend’s schedule includes practice and qualifying on Friday for the Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy USA and the Discount Tire/Air Power Invitational with free admission for everyone. Saturday will be the only day that the NASCAR K&N Pro Series will be on track, with practice, qualifying and racing all on that one day. The Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy USA and the Discount Tire/Air Power Invitational will have the track to themselves on Sunday.
The NASCAR K&N Pro Series West guys always put on a great show, and it almost never fails that there’s some last-lap drama that results in a surprise ending. Don’t miss it! Tickets are priced at $25 for adults on Saturday, $10 for adults on Sunday or $30 for the weekend. Kids aged 12 and under are admitted free of charge. There will be a $5 parking fee on Saturday, but the parking fee will be waived on Sunday. Also, there is a 50-percent discount on tickets for Tooele County residents and military personnel.
