Young NASCAR Fans are the Winners

By allowing children in the garage and younger teens behind the wheel, it’s clear NASCAR wants a youth movement. In fact, kids thirteen and under are just ten dollars ($10) with a paying adult in most grandstands for Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series races and FREE with a paying adult to Qualifying and Xfinity series races.

This weekend race winners augmented that dedication to the younger fans. 

Christopher Bell

NASCAR Xfinity Series’ Christopher Bell drives the No. 20 Toyota Supra for Joe Gibbs Racing.  Bell led 238 of 250 laps, a career-high for a single race, to win at Richmond and advance to the next round of the Xfinity Series Playoffs. 

He then gave his winning checkered flag to a boy decked out in Christopher Bell attire.

Martin Truex Jr

Martin Truex Jr., who drives the No. 19 Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing survived a spin to win the 2019 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup season's second race at Richmond, taking his second victory in a row and his sixth this year. He was leading with 87 laps remaining when Ricky Stenhouse Jr., running on fresher tires, spun him out.

After the race, an elated Truex Jr. presented a youngster wearing a t-shirt that mirrored the driver’s race suit his winning checkered flag.

Just in case you did not know, Kyle Petty is an ex-NASCAR driver, now sports analyst for NBC. He can boast of eight Cup wins during his almost thirty-year career.

Therefore, NASCAR Race Mom was very pleaseD when this expert expressed his opinion regard Kyle Busch’s shenanigans and negative behavior after a recent racing incident.

Look I know he is mad, and you can defend him all you want to, because I think he is one of the greatest race car driver ever to set his rear-end in a race car and hang on to a steering wheel. I think history will show that; he shows that weekly . . . . .but at the same time, I think that carrying and doing interviews, like we just saw and we saw last week is a disrespect to the sport, is a disrespect to the media and is a disrespect to the fans. I’m sorry, but you know that when you crash, somebody is going to be standing in your face with a microphone. Its been that way since the time you got into a truck and went to Xfinity and got in Cup. Get over yourself, get over it and get in the car and do your job . . . . you got sponsors, you got fans. There’re little kids out there that look up to you and you’re an example, whether you want to be or not.

Kyle Busch has fifty-five Cup wins – definitely bound for the NASCAR Hall of Fame. NRM hopes that he can develop enough to respect the sport that accolades him.

Christopher Bell Wins Go Bowling 250

The NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs at Richmond Raceway

Christopher Bell, driver of the No. 20 Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing, captured the checkered flag in the Go Bowling 250 NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) Playoff race at Richmond Raceway (Richmond). The victory was the first race of the NXS Playoffs and seventh win of the NXS season, which moves him to the Round of Eight in the NXS Playoffs.

“That one was pretty special. Going ninty-two laps straight here is really difficult,” said Bell. “We were sliding all around. I felt like if I could get to traffic I was going to be in good shape because my car could move around really good.”

With the victory, Bell has now won three of his four career starts at America’s Premier Short Track. He is now tied for third with Jimmie Johnson, Kevin Harvick, and Denny Hamlin with the most wins of active drivers at Richmond.

Bell dominated the Go Bowling 250 leading a career-high 238 of 250 laps and winning by 1.700 seconds over second place finisher Austin Cindric of Team Penske. Cindric won the Go Bowling 250 pole with a lap of almost 119 miles per hour. This was his fourth pole of the 2019 NXS season.

The race featured four lead changes among Bell, Cindric, and Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Brandon Jones, driver of the No. 19 Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing. Jones just missed out on his fourth straight top-10 result by finishing 11th. Cole Custer, driver of the #00 Go Bowling car for Stewart-Haas Racing, finished third followed by Justin Allgaier and Chase Briscoe to complete the top five.

“I want to say thanks to the fans for coming out,” said Bell. “It’s an honor to run in front of you guys. If you don’t come out, we have no one to race for. Thank you to all the fans for coming out.”

Regular season NXS champion Tyler Reddick finished in tenth place. The rest of the NXS Playoff field finishes included: Noah Gragson in seventh, Michael Annett in ninth, Ryan Sieg in 12th, John Hunter Nemechek in 15th, and Justin Haley in 17th.

Harrison Burton, driver of the No. 18 for Joe Gibbs Racing, earned his third career top-10 finish in his fourth career NXS start.
