Great Night for the Hasa Team

"We had an awesome Hasa Pool Products Toyota Camry," said Moses Smith, driver of the No. 16 Hasa Pool Products/White Flyer Toyota Camry for Bill McAnally Racing.

Smith qualified the Camry in thirteenth and finished third at the inaugural NASCAR K&N Pro Series West event at Montana Raceway Park.

He also received the Coca-Cola Move of the Race Award for gaining the most positions and the Featherlite Most Improved Driver Award which is given to the driver who improves his finishing position the most from the previous race.

"We (the competition) were really evenly matched here at MRP," said Smith. "The Hasa Toyota Camry was really good. We didn't qualify as well as we wanted. The track was pretty slick for the early qualifiers and we were the sixth car out."

By lap 82, Smith had moved into the top-ten. "Our Hasa Toyota Camry was really coming to us," continued Smith. "We were able to make passes everywhere. It was a great night for the team. We'll be racing the same car next week at Colorado National Speedway. We're heading there with a lot of momentum to a track we do well at."

After the first yellow at lap 105, the car really began to work for Smith, and he began a late in the race charge to the front. Passing four cars in one lap, put the #16 Hasa Toyota Camry in sixth before having to make his way thru the biggest wreck of the night at lap 127. Smith restarted in 5th and raced his way to third where he would finish with the final five laps running door-to-door with David Mayhew who finished second.

Smith is fifth in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West chase for the championship and only 11 points out of third.

The next race will be in Dacono, Colorado on August 14th. Smith has three top-ten finishes at the .375-mile oval just north of Denver, Colorado.
