Petty GMS and Jimmie Johnson Enter Ownership Agreement

Petty GMS and Jimmie Johnson Enter Ownership Agreement

Seven-Time NASCAR Cup Series Champion, Johnson to compete in Limited NASCAR Cup Series Schedule in 2023

Petty GMS and Jimmie Johnson Enter Ownership Agreement

Petty GMS Owner Maury Gallagher and Chairman Richard Petty, announced today the team has entered into an ownership agreement with seven-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion Jimmie Johnson.  Additionally, Johnson will compete in a select number of NASCAR Cup Series events in 2023, to include the running of the 65th annual DAYTONA 500.

“I couldn’t be happier to have Jimmie Johnson joining Petty GMS,” stated Gallagher “We have been consistent since we began our Cup effort last year in wanting to be up front and have a winning program. No one in the modern era of NASCAR has won more than Jimmie. Having a driver, the caliber of Jimmie, driving our equipment and being able to provide feedback to our crew chiefs and engineers but most importantly, mentoring Erik and Noah will be invaluable. Perhaps most important of all, Jimmie will be a great partner. I know I speak for all the Petty GMS team members, including Richard Petty,  in welcoming Jimmie to the team. No one else will be able to say they have two seven-time Cup champions on their team. We are looking to make a strong statement next year and show that we are here to contend for wins and championships. I can’t wait to see what we can achieve together.”

Richard Petty & Jimmie Johnson - #NASCAR A Good Day

Petty GMS was formed in December 2021 when Gallagher, a two-time NASCAR Truck Series Championship team owner, purchased Richard Petty Motorsports. Petty, “The King”, a seven-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion, Inaugural NASCAR Hall of Fame Class member, and the all-time winningest driver in NASCAR history, will continue with the team his family started in 1949. Mike Beam, who began his career with Petty Enterprises as crew chief for Kyle Petty in the early 1980s, will remain in his role as team President.

“What an exciting time for Petty GMS,” said Petty. “This year we’ve accomplished so much together with Maury and now adding Jimmie will only continue to help us grow. To have Jimmie - another seven-time champion – as a part of the team, and his abilities both on track and off will be special for Petty GMS. I’m looking forward to having him as a part of our team and seeing what we can build together."

"It’s great to be back in NASCAR,” stated Johnson. "When the INDYCAR season ended I started on this journey of what was next. Maury and I connected, this opportunity came to light and it’s the perfect fit for me. Team ownership makes so much sense at this stage of my career and after spending time with Maury and his family, talking with Mike (Beam), Dave (Elenz, crew chief of the No. 43) and Joey (Cohen, Director of Competition and Engineering), I realized this was something I wanted to be involved with from both the business perspective and on the competition side. If I’m going to commit to something like this, I want to make a difference and have something tangible to show for it when it’s all said and done. So, this opportunity with Petty GMS is all of that and much more.”

Johnson stepped away from full-time NASCAR Cup Series competition at the conclusion of the 2020 season after 686 starts with Hendrick Motorsports. He currently ranks sixth on the all-time Cup Series wins list with 83, tied with NASCAR Hall of Fame member Cale Yarborough. Johnson will join 26-year-old driver Erik Jones, who recently scored Petty GMS’ first Cup Series win for the organization in the prestigious Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway, and 24-year-old NASCAR Xfinity Series standout Noah Gragson,  who will contend for NASCAR Cup Series Rookie of Year in 2023.

“I’m fortunate that I had incredible mentors throughout my life, and I’ve always tried to pay that forward,” said Johnson. “My experience and energy will add value to a team with young drivers like Erik and Noah - I feel like I can be a good resource both on and off the track.”

The remainder of Johnson’s racing schedule, partnerships, paint scheme and car number will be revealed at a future date.

US DOJ and FBI Investigating NASCAR Noose

US DOJ and FBI Investigating NASCAR Noose The United States Department of Justice announced yesterday that it will be looking into the noose found in NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace's garage stall at Talladega Superspeedway in an attempt to determine if federal law was broken. The FBI is also investigating the discovery of the noose.

Noose found in NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace's garage stall at Talladega Superspeedway #NASCAR

"The U.S. Attorney's office for the Northern District of Alabama, FBI and the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division are reviewing the situation surrounding the noose that was found in Bubba Wallace's garage to determine whether there are violations of federal law. Regardless of whether federal charges can be brought, this type of action has no place in our society." The U.S. Department of Justice

It is truly unfortunately that a photo of the noose was not made public. Such documentations would surely stop the speculation that this act of Racial Terrorism was merely a misunderstanding and/or hoax.

One theory went viral that the ‘noose’ was circular serpentine automotive belt. The facebook user even reported that investigations are already over. – This is false!

Another version purports that the noose was simply a rope used to pull the garage door closed.

Again, without further investigation, nothing is sure nor clear except the understanding that any acts of racism will not be tolerated.

Nevertheless, let us/NASCAR not go overboard and find the boogey man in every nook and cranny.  Let the official investigation provide the truth.

Wendell Scott / Darrell "Bubba" Wallace Jr. Making #NASCAR History

Wendell Scott / Darrell "Bubba" Wallace Jr. Making #NASCAR History
Wendell Scott was the first African-American driver to win a premier series race. A trailblazer, Scott is recognized during the first race weekend of March, which coincides with his first start — March 4, 1961. NASCAR has created an original commemorative decal that is available to be placed as a B-post decal on all national series vehicles.

Wendell Scott - #NASCAR Commemorative Decal

Scott made 495 starts during his career and posted 147 top-10 finishes before retiring in 1973. Scott died in 1990. He won in NASCAR’s top national touring series on Dec. 1, 1963, on a 1-mile dirt track in Jacksonville, Florida. Scott was posthumously inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2015.

Interesting Fact: Did you know that Wendall Scott passed Richard Petty, who was driving an ailing car, with 25 laps remaining for his historic win? Bubba Wallace now drives for Petty Motorsports.

Darrell "Bubba" Wallace Jr. - #NASCAR

Today, Darrell "Bubba" Wallace Jr. is following down the inspirational Scott’s “tire tracks.” The twenty-four-year old rookie competes full-time in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 43 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Richard Petty Motorsports. The ride made Bubba the first full-time African-American driver at the sport’s top level since Wendell Scott in 1971.

It is thought that him being one of the new, prominent faces of NASCAR could be a turning point for the sport.

“This is definitely helping, for sure,” Wallace said about his position with Richard Petty Motorsports. “I don’t know how long it’s going to take until we get there, but it’s been a fun journey so far, and we’ve only just started the schedule. It will probably take some years, though. “After being under the spotlight nearly 24/7 as Facebook Live followed him through the final four days leading into the Daytona 500 for its “Behind the Wall: Bubba Wallace” series, Atlanta seemed somewhat tame for the driver.

“After a couple of days, I’m like looking around. ‘Where are the cameras?’ It was just how much they were around,” Wallace said when he met with the media. “We went to dinner one night, Amanda (Wallace’s girlfriend) and I, and I was like, ‘I’m surprised we’re not mic’d-up right now.'”

Darrell "Bubba" Wallace Jr. and the No. 43 The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 will start today's “the Pennzoil 400” from the twenty-six position. It should be a fun show watching him maneuver the iconic #43 through the pack.

“The Cosmopolitan is one of the coolest places on the Strip,” said Wallace Jr. “Everything that is a part of the resort is the best of the best of Vegas. I enjoy going to Las Vegas, having fun, eating great food and just being able to relax at an amazing place like The Cosmopolitan. This is a pretty cool sponsorship.”

Victory Junction at the Daytona 500

Richard Petty Motorsports with Click n’ Close Introduces the “Double Bubba” Bonus.

Victory Junction at the Daytona 500

Just in case you missed it . . . . Victory Junction was at the Daytona 500 last weekend. During the week Victory Junction, (a medically safe, yet exhilarating camp, that challenges children who have a serious medical condition to try things they never imagined possible,) hosted a few breakfasts as a meet and greet for donors.

Not that a thank you is necessary for supporters of this awesome cause.  NASCAR Race Mom loves how children entrusted to Victory Junction gain a greater understanding of their own strengths and courage. The camp creates lasting friendships with other campers who truly understand their situations.

Coincidentally, it was recently announced that Click n’ Close, the “Official Mortgage Provider of NASCAR” and Richard Petty Motorsports, in partnership with the Motor Racing Network and the Performance Racing Network, announced a joint partnership with Victory Junction, establishing the “Fastest Lap” Award at the completion of each Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race in 2018 on both radio networks!

For the fastest lap in each race, Click n’ Close will make a donation to Victory Junction. For the fastest lap in each race, Click n’ Close will make a donation to Victory Junction, a medically-safe camping facility that provides a life-changing experience for children, ages six to 16, with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses, at the conclusion of each race that corresponds with the fastest lap of the race in speed. MRN and PRN will then match that donation after each race.

In addition, to celebrate its partnership with driver Darrell “Bubba” Wallace Jr. and Richard Petty Motorsports, Click n’ Close is introducing the “Double Bubba” bonus. If Wallace and the No. 43 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 team turns the fastest lap during a 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race, Click n’ Close, MRN and PRN will double its donation to Victory Junction for that event.

“Click n’ Close is thrilled and honored to support Victory Junction this season,” said Wayne Arute, Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer, Click n’ Close. “Their mission is an impactful one and means a great deal to the NASCAR community, which has welcomed our Click n’ Close brand with open arms. We look forward to building our relationship with Victory Junction, starting this weekend.”

NASCAR fans are also challenged to join Click n’ Close to give back to Victory Junction by going to ClicknClose.com/NASCAR and make a donation of $43 or more to the camp.

We also want to thank MRN and PRN for their commitment to this program, too.”

Did Bubba Wallace Live Up to the #NASCAR Hype?

Did Bubba Wallace Live Up to the #NASCAR Hype?

“Drove Smart and Remained Patient”

If you follow NASCAR and Speedweek, you could not help but notice the name Darrell “Bubba” Wallace Jr. In December 2017, in one of the Richard Petty Motorsport’s most anticipated moments in its history, it was announced that Darrell “Bubba” Wallace Jr. would be the new driver of the #43 Richard Petty Motorsports Chevrolet, made famous by team co-owner, “The King” Richard Petty.

Wallace, 24, will compete full-time in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and for the ‘Sunoco Rookie of The Year’ beginning at the 2018 Daytona 500 today. However, Wallace was not new to the iconic MENCS ride. He had driven the car a handful of times in 2017, when Petty’s then-full-time driver Aric Almirola was injured in a race, Wallace filled in for four races in the 43 car.

“This is a dream come true to race for ‘The King’, Richard Petty Motorsports, the iconic No. 43 and for all the fans and partners that have and continue to support this team,” Wallace stated at the time. “I believe in what Richard Petty Motorsports is doing and their desire to win races. I believe this team, its partners and fans are ready to see some great things again. I’m humbled that they have chosen me to take that next step with them. I’m ready for next season to begin and to prove to people that we can compete at the level we all expect to be at.”

As the first full-time African-American driver in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series since Wendell Scott, all eyes were scrutinizing this young rookie.

In fact, Bubba even received a pre-race phone call from Baseball Legend Hank Aaron. Hank Aaron grew from humble beginnings in Mobile, Alabama, Wallace’s hometown, before passing through the sandlots with brief stops in the Negro Leagues and the minor leagues before he settled in with the Braves where he ultimately became one of baseball’s most iconic figures.

So How Did Darrell “Bubba” Wallace Jr. do in the 2018 NASCAR Season Opener?

Wallace finished third in the first Duel 150 on Thursday, to secure a seventh place starting position for the 60th running of the Daytona 500. At the drop of the green on the Daytona 500, he maneuvered up to second place by lap three, right behind leader Denny Hamlin. In lap thirteen, after pit stops, Wallace restarted in third.

On lap twenty-eighth, it would appear that the #43 ran out of racing room and tagged the wall a bit. There was not much damage, but it put him back into fourteenth place. He dropped steadily after that, all the way back to twenty-fourth before surviving the first “Big One” to finishing Stage One in fourteenth.

During his pit stop the crew addressed his observation that the car was “on the free side” He started Stage Two from eleventh. The adjustment must have been positive because Wallace worked his way up to eighth on lap seventy-three.

Wallace did take some hostility from Trevor Bayne for blocking on lap eighty-four. Nonetheless they were both battling to stay in the top-ten. Darrell was again able to avoid a crash and emerged through the carnage in ninth. Wallace finished Stage 2 in a very respectable seventh place (out of twenty-one cars on the lead lap).

Bubba was lined up in eleventh place for the Stage 3 start. He was very impressively maintain his position is sixth place for most of this stage.

Wallace did fall back to tenth before the yellow flag fell with just ten laps to go.  With just a lap to go, Darrell was in the perfect position to create his own "luck" maneuvering on a rough ride below the yellow line to avoid last "Big One" of the event.

So did Darrell “Bubba” Wallace Jr. live up to all the hype he received before his debut in the No. 43 Richard Petty Motorsports Chevy? Driving from sixth to a second place finish Bubba’s performance surprised me in an encouraging manner.

I would have to give his rookie run an enthusiastic A+. Go Bubba - you earned a new fan.

Air Force Announces Continued Partnership with Richard Petty Motorsports For 2018

The Air Force begins its 18th year of sponsorship in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, partnering with Richard Petty Motorsports for a 10th consecutive season.

Air Force Recruiting Service, charged with the mission to inspire, engage and recruit future Airmen, sees the continued association as an opportunity to build awareness about the Air Force.

“The Air Force is excited to partner with Richard Petty Motorsports once again and this year we are ‘enlisting’ a new driver, Darrell “Bubba” Wallace, Jr.,” said Timothy Hanson, Air Force Recruiting Service Strategic Marketing Division chief. “NASCAR and other motorsports align well with our target audience’s interests and the Air Force’s commitment to teamwork and technology.”

As a partner of the new No. 43 Chevrolet Camaro, the Air Force team will be featured during the two most patriotic race weekends of the year: July 4th weekend at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway and Veterans Day weekend at Phoenix (Ariz.) International Raceway.

“The combination of Bubba Wallace and the iconic No. 43 provides a continuing sponsorship opportunity that reflects our Air Force core values and has a positive impact on generating public awareness about the U.S. Air Force, our people and our mission,” Hanson said. “Like NASCAR, much of our work is based on science, technology, engineering and math principles and this sponsorship is a great way to highlight that connection.”

Air Force Announces Continued Partnership with Richard Petty Motorsports For 2018
“I’m proud to join the men and women of the Air Force and represent them on and off the track,” said Wallace. “I’m also really looking forward to meeting the next wave of Airmen and play my part to engage, inspire and bring awareness to the unique opportunities which lie within our United States Air Force. I’ve had the opportunity to spend time with some Airmen and they are the best at what they do. I admire them for their service and the protections they provide our country.”

“The U.S. Air Force has been partners with us for a long time,” added Richard Petty, Co-Owner, Richard Petty Motorsports. “It’s a special partnership for us because we get to thank the men and women who protect our freedom each weekend, but also get to talk to new recruits about the Air Force and what opportunities they have. It’s been great for both of us.”

Aric Almirola to Return to No. 43 Smithfield Ford at New Hampshire Motor Speedway

Aric Almirola to Return to No. 43 Smithfield Ford at New Hampshire Motor Speedway

Cleared by Doctors and NASCAR Following a Multi-Step Process

Richard Petty Motorsports (RPM) driver Aric Almirola, who suffered an acute compression fracture to his T5 Vertebra after a multi-car accident at Kansas Speedway in May, will return to Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series competition this weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Aric Almirola to Return to No. 43 Smithfield Ford at New Hampshire Motor Speedway #NASCAR

The injury, which has a standard healing time of eight to 12 weeks, took eight weeks for Almirola to recover. Throughout the recovery process, Almirola did physical therapy, swam and tested in a simulation and on track environment. A test yesterday at Charlotte Motor Speedway was the final step in a multi-step process to return to the No. 43 Smithfield Ford.

“It felt great to be back in the racecar yesterday,” said Almirola. “After racing in the Monster Energy Series for five and a half years, it got to be routine, and I took it for granted. When something gets taken away from you at a moment’s notice like that, it has certainly made me appreciate my passion for racing and my desire to compete at this level. The thrill of running 200 miles per hour in a stock car was something that I had honestly lost a little bit. After being out of the car for eight weeks, the passion is back, now more than ever.

“Physically, I felt great in the car and had no pain associated with the injury during yesterday’s test” Almirola continued. “I’d like to sincerely thank all of the medical personnel that have helped me through this process, my family, my friends, my team and all the fans that supported me. I’m very grateful to Bubba (Wallace), Regan (Smith) and Billy (Johnson) for all of their efforts subbing for me both on and off the track. I’m excited to get back to racing against all my friends and peers in the Monster Energy Series.”

Almirola will return to the seat of the “Petty Blue” No. 43 Smithfield Ford Fusion at the one-mile track where he has scored one Top-Five and two Top-10 finishes. About Richard Petty Motorsports

A performance and marketing driven company, Richard Petty Motorsports, co-owned by NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Petty and successful business entrepreneur Andrew Murstein, is one of the most recognized brands in all of motorsports.

With a history of over 200 wins and business partnerships with national and global leaders, today the race operation fields one team in competition in the NASCAR premier series with driver Aric Almirola. Almirola will return to the iconic No. 43 Ford with partners Smithfield Foods, STP, United States Air Force and Fresh From Florida. The team is headquartered in Mooresville, N.C.

“Bubba” Wallace Jr., No. 43 Smithfield Ford

Darrell Wallace Jr - Coke Zero 400 Race Report - #NASCAR

Wallace Jr. started the Coke Zero 400 from the 31st spot in the No. 43 Smithfield Ford. He quickly raced three-wide using the top lane to gain track position. He raced as high as 20th before the caution on Lap 11. Crew Chief Drew Blickensderfer called for a four tire pit stop and chassis adjustment for a tight handling Ford Fusion. Wallace restarted 29th, and a quick caution four laps later allowed the team to pit for fuel only. Wallace restarted 24th and worked the top line to move his way through the field in the 20 laps remaining in the first stage. He raced as high as 10th and held the 15th spot at the end of Stage 1.

Needing more security on entry and to be freer on the exit of the corner, the team made a four tire pit stop and another chassis adjustment. The No. 43 Ford restarted 20th and raced as high as 15th before a caution on Lap 60 came out with Wallace in the 22nd position. The team stayed out which gave the Smithfield Ford the 13th spot on the restart. Wallace maneuvered around a 10-car incident that brought out the caution on Lap 72. The team stayed out during the caution and restarted 10th. Wallace drove into the ninth position by the conclusion of Stage 2.

Darrell Wallace Jr - Coke Zero 400 Race Report - #NASCAR
Wallace radioed that he was a little tight as the tires fell off, so Blickensderfer called for a four-tire pit stop with an air pressure adjustment. He restarted 24th. The team utilized a caution on Lap 91 to stay out and gain track position. The No. 43 Smithfield Ford restarted 12th. Wallace drove around another multi-car incident and held the 10th position on Lap 99 when the caution came out. He restarted ninth but got stuck in the middle and fell to 16th. He again avoided incident when four cars wrecked in front of him. He held the eighth spot.

Blickensderfer called him down pit road for a four-tire stop. The No. 43 Ford restarted 11th on Lap 111. Wallace stayed out during a Lap 118 caution and restarted fifth. Another caution on Lap 122 found him in the third position. At the restart, Wallace worked his way to second and eyed the lead. Unfortunately, he got shuffled out and had to work his way back through the field. He made a pit stop on Lap 130 for four tires and a chassis adjustment. He restarted 26th and worked the draft up to 13th before the 42 car spun in front of the field and the No. 43 Ford had nowhere to go. The Smithfield Ford had damage to the front nose and flat spotted tires. Wallace came to pit road to fix the damage and change tires. He restarted 18th. Another caution setup an overtime situation. Wallace worked the draft in the final three laps and finished 15th.

“That was fun,” said Wallace. “Probably the most fun that I’ve had at the Speedway. I missed three, four wrecks. It’s just a big chess game. Today was way different than the XFINITY race earlier today. I was just trying to plan out my attacks. It seemed like every time that I went ‘there’ I was supposed to go ‘there’. It was bad timing; things you learn from. I hate that we got in that wreck late and put us in the back. A good rally to get to 15th. We keep improving. All and all it was a good day for our Smithfield Ford. It was great to have a Ford in Victory Lane.”

Petty Raises $170,000+ for Paralyzed Veterans

Richard Petty Raises More Than $170,000 for Paralyzed Veterans of America at Mecum Auto Auction For three years, “The King” Richard Petty, his race team Richard Petty Motorsports and his high performance speed shop, Petty’s Garage, partnered to build a limited edition Ford Mustang for the Paralyzed Veterans of America (Paralyzed Veterans). Petty, a long-time supporter of Paralyzed Veterans, made a recent stop at the Mecum Auto Auction in Kissimmee, Fla., as the 2017 Ford Mustang GT was auctioned off.

Richard Petty Motorsports (RPM) purchased the 2017 Ford Mustang GT and commissioned Petty’s Garage to build the one-of-a-kind, high-performance vehicle. The Mustang was stripped down and repainted with a custom Petty Blue, white and red design. A Whipple Supercharger was added to boost horsepower to a ground pounding 825 ponies. A custom interior from Katzkin was installed featuring the Paralyzed Veterans brand and a stainless exhaust by Magnaflow. The finishing touches were added by Forgeline wheels and Continental Tires. Petty was vigilant through the build process at Petty’s Garage to ensure every element of the Mustang met his meticulous standards. When the car was complete, RPM donated the car to the Paralyzed Veterans for the January 14 auction. The finished, one-of-a-kind automobile raised $170,500 for the non-profit veterans service organization.

Petty Raises $170,000+ for Paralyzed Veterans

“We’re very proud that this car raised $170,500 for Paralyzed Veterans,” said Petty. “We spent a lot of time ensuring this was a special car and would raise a good amount of funds for their organization. We’ve worked with Paralyzed Veterans for a while now, and to see what the men and women in our armed services have given for our freedom is something very special. I’m honored to be a small part in giving back to them. I would also like to thank Dana and Frank Mecum for their continued support of Paralyzed Veterans. They graciously provide the platform for this auction, and this year, they made an additional donation to the organization.”

Petty Raises $170,000+ for Paralyzed Veterans

“Richard Petty, Petty’s Garage and Richard Petty Motorsports are tremendous supporters of Paralyzed Veterans of America and the entire veteran community,” said Larry Dodson, national secretary of Paralyzed Veterans of America. “We cannot thank them enough for helping our organization raise critical funds through a popular platform such as Mecum Auctions. It is unique opportunities such as this that further Paralyzed Veterans’ mission to make a difference in the lives of disabled veterans, their caregivers, and their families.”

More than two weeks after Hurricane Matthew struck Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and parts of Virginia, the American Red Cross has served more than 1.3 million meals and snacks, and provided 99,000 overnight shelter stays to people in need, prompting the charity to issue a call for the public's help.

"With the significance that Hurricane Matthew had on the Carolinas, Virginia and really all of the southeast coast, we knew it was extremely important to give back to our community in a partnership with the American Red Cross," Richard Petty, co-owner of Richard Petty Motorsports, said. "One of the best things we can do for our community is to give back, and after seeing the impact Hurricane Matthew had on cities like Lumberton, Kinston and others cities in the coast plains of NC, , we think partnering with Red Cross is an integral part in helping with the relief efforts of fans in those areas. We have cities completely under water where our neighbors have lost everything!"

The Red Cross depends on donations to provide immediate relief. Fans can help people affected by Hurricane Matthew by visiting http://www.redcross.org/rpm-pub, calling 1-800-RED-CROSS, or texting the word MATTHEW to 90999, which will be featured on the No. 44 Ford Fusion this weekend, to make a $10 donation. Donations enable the Red Cross to prepare for, respond to and help people recover from this disaster.

"We truly appreciate the partnership of Richard Petty and Brian Scott, and all the racing fans who are so generously supporting our work," said Selma Bouhl, Red Cross VP Brand & Marketing Strategy. "We're in the middle of a vast response effort and will be helping people affected by Hurricane Matthew to recover for as long as we are needed."

This will be the first time Richard Petty Motorsports and the American Red Cross have partnered together for a primary race. Scott has one start at Martinsville Speedway in the Sprint Cup Series, finishing 26th in the spring race earlier this season.

The No. 44 Red Cross Ford will hit the track for Sunday's Goody's Fast Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway on Sunday, October 30 at 1:00 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

Grateful to Be a Member of Adam’s Heroes

Grateful to Be a Member of Adam’s Heroes

The Victory Junction camp experience is not just about playing games, it is about helping children learn more about their abilities and what they can do.

Grateful to Be a Member of Adam’s Heroes #nascar

I just had to take a moment away from my enjoyment of the #NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Talladega to write about a ‘non-profit’ near and dear to my heart.

Victory Junction was launched in 2004 by then NASCAR driver Kyle Petty*  and his wife, Pattie, in memory of their son Adam. Adam Petty was a hard charging, up-and-coming racer who was killed at the young age of nineteen, during a practice run at New Hampshire International Speedway in 2000.

Grateful to Be a Member of Adam’s Heroes #nascar
The camp was found in memory of Adam and his special connection for children struggling with illness. They believe that every child, no matter their illness or diagnosis, should enjoy normal childhood experiences.

Grateful to Be a Member of Adam’s Heroes #nascarVictory Junction is where children, whose lives are filled with limitations and boundaries, face fun challenges and discover just how resilient they are.

Anyway I digress. We believe in this mission so strongly; our monthly donations are set to auto pay. Today, I received a letter from the camp’s annual fund manager thanking me for my support. As a monthly donor, I was granted entry into a new special group entitled “Adam’s Heroes” – what an unexpected honor!

They requested I tell my friends about Victory Junction; hence, this post. It takes about $2,500 to provide one week of camp to a child. Trust me, it has been personally satisfying to be part of this wonderful endeavor.

If you have an extra few dollars, hard these tough times I know; however if you can please consider donating. Thanks to the generosity of donors, families never pay for their child to attend camp.

*The Pettys are one of NASCAR’s most famous family. Adam’s great-grandfather Lee won the first Daytona 500 in 1959. Then came his son Richard, who won 200 races and seven Winston Cup championships during his career. Kyle followed his famous father and is still involved in the sport as a television analyst for NBC. In 1998, Adam made his professional debut.
