ComServe Wireless 150 - Dominion Raceway
Rookie Earns First Career K&N Pro East Win
Kyle Benjamin was fastest in practice, won the 21 Means 21 Pole Award and led the first 137 laps of the scheduled 150 lap race. Unfortunately, his race dominance did not result in a win. An controversial incident on a late-race restart ended his day in last place.
We had the dominating car,” Benjamin told Speed51.com powered by JEGS about his race ending contact with Dillon Bassett and his brother Ronnie, “To have that happen to you really sucks. I don’t know what more you can say about him jacking us up, then me saving it, and then him turning me again. He intentionally wrecked us the second time, so you know it wasn’t an accident.”
That left Benjamin’s teammate Spencer Davis to duke it out with Justin Haley. The finish was so exciting and close that both drivers had to wait for the NASCAR Officials to review the finish.
"Just the amount of emotion right there going on between the whole team," said Davis of sitting in his No. 41 Davis Poultry/Ruud.com Chevrolet. "That long dramatic pause was about to push me over the edge. When I heard my name over the intercom, everyone started screaming over the radio. And it was the best burnout I've ever done." Monday's victory came in his tenth career K&N Pro Series start.
