Michigan International Speedway  and its sister company Americrown combined donated nearly a million dollars in 2016 to local service groups and organizations through cash donations, work programs, grants and sponsorships, as well as tickets and merchandise that clubs raffle to raise money. In 2016 alone, Michigan International Speedway and its catering and concession partner Americrown along with MIS Cares donated or paid out more than $682,630.82 to local charities and service groups through cash donations and work programs.

MIS Cares, the speedway’s charity arm, awarded $69,950 in cash donations to local charities through its grant program during the track’s annual Community Luncheon. All of these deserving recipients share the MIS Cares mission to assist and inspire youth in our local community.

Additionally, MIS created The Michigan Heritage, a recognition and celebration of the automobile and its importance to the race track and the manufacturers competing in NASCAR, in 2013. Each manufacturer and MIS donated $10,000 to be given to a youth-related, STEM-related charity in Michigan every year.

This past spring MIS Cares awarded 12 scholarships to seniors in Lenawee and Jackson Counties. The scholarship is open to any graduating senior in Jackson or Lenawee County who is entering a STEAM-related (science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics) field at a college, university or trade school in the state of Michigan. Thanks to support from the community, MIS Cares has been able to award $36,000 in scholarships to local high school students in the first four years of the program.

The NASCAR weekends at MIS allowed MIS Cares to drop the green flag to raising money for local organizations. MIS Cares and the NASCAR Foundation sold 50/50 raffle tickets, raising $118,910 in June and $135,035 in August. The fans have been the driving force behind the track raising $459,055 during the 50/50 raffle in two years.
