Camping World Series West Draws Top Drivers

2008 Infineon Raceway NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Raybestos Rookie of the Year candidate Joey Logano and noted road-racing veteran Boris Said are among the entries for the Bennett Lane Winery 200 Presented by Supercuts at Infineon Raceway on Saturday, June 20. The annual NASCAR Camping World Series West race is a companion event as part of the big NASCAR weekend with the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at the road course in Sonoma, Calif.

Eighty-One-Year-Old Hershel McGriffAdditionally, eighty-one year old Hershel McGriff has had enough of retirement, and the legendary driver will make his return behind the wheel at Infineon Raceway for the Bennett Lane Winery 200, presented by Supercuts, on Saturday, June 20.

McGriff walked away from racing in 2002, but he will compete in three road-course events on this year’s NASCAR Camping World Series West schedule, including the series’ only stop in Sonoma. If McGriff takes the checkered flag, he would become the oldest driver to ever win in one of NASCAR’s premier series.

Last year’s NASCAR Camping World Series West race at Sonoma, which attracted a record field of 41 cars, featured a thrilling three-way battle for the win in the closing laps. Jason Bowles held on for the win, with Eric Holmes and Jim Inglebright close behind.

Moses Smith 2008 Race … Moses qualified for the 2008 Infineon race in seventh place. An electrical failure plagued the team and Moses finished in twenty-eight in the field of forty-one.
