Checkered Flag 5K and Kids Fun Run at Richmond International Raceway

Richmond International Raceway is giving runners the chance to race across the same finish line as NASCAR legends like Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt on Thursday, April 27. RIR has partnered with Richmond Road Runners Club to host the inaugural Checkered Flag 5K and Kids Fun Run. The course will take participants around the RIR property as well its historic track surface.

Participants can celebrate crossing the finish line right on Pit Road, with craft beer, food trucks and music!

Parking for the event is free, and participants can take advantage of the thousands of parking spaces right on property to enjoy all of the post-race fun.

“The inaugural Checkered Flag 5K & Kids Fun Run will open our family-friendly spring race weekend with a fun, impactful event for our community,” said RIR President Dennis Bickmeier. “Through the partnership with the Richmond Road Runners, we will give 5K participants a driver’s view of RIR and raise funds for our non-profit arm, RIR Cares.”
