Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) announces today that Kyle Benjamin will drive four NASCAR XFINITY Series races during the 2017 season.

Benjamin, 19, will make his NASCAR XFINITY Series debut in JGR’s No. 20 Camry at Richmond International Raceway on April 29 and then race Pocono Raceway on June 10. He will pilot the No. 18 Camry for JGR on July 29 at Iowa Speedway and again on September 23 at Kentucky Speedway.

“Kyle has proven to be a quick learner throughout his career,” said Steve deSouza, Executive Vice President of XFINITY and Development for Joe Gibbs Racing. “All you have to do is look at his history and it’s rather impressive to see how quickly success came to him at each stage of his development. We’re excited to have him make his debut with our XFINITY program.”

The Easley, SC native started racing competitively at the age of six and it did not take long for him to start moving through the ranks. He would become the youngest winner ever of the Bandolero Nationals in 2007 at the age of just 10-years old.

By the age of 13, he had moved into the Pro and Super Late Model divisions and in 2011, he would win two Pro Late Model events, one at Five Flags and another at Mobile Internationals. In 20 starts that season he would claim 10 top-five and 13 top-ten finishes. A year later, he would claim the Super Late Model Championship at the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway (FL) and added wins at Mobile, Winchester Speedway (IN), Lucas Oil Raceway (IN) and Watermelon Capital Speedway (GA).

Benjamin continued to impress with a second-place finish in his ARCA Series debut and then became the youngest series pole winner at Toledo Raceway and the youngest race winner when he claimed the checkered flag at Madison International Speedway.

In 2015, Benjamin was named a member of the NASCAR Next program and ran his first full season in the NASCAR K&N East Series. He would pick up his first victory at Bristol Motor Speedway. He returned to the series in 2016 and added two victories including a win at Greenville Pickens Speedway and Dover International Speedway. He led the series with in poles (five), average starting position (3.9) and laps led (582) while finishing second in the point standings.

"I'm thrilled for the opportunity to drive a Toyota in the XFINITY Series for Joe Gibbs Racing,” said Benjamin. “This is going to be an incredible experience. JGR is a first-class organization, and I'm looking forward to learning about how they operate and prepare for each race."
