Martin Truex Jr. Foundation and SherryStrong.org, creating and distributing original content in support of the group’s mission of assisting families affected by childhood and ovarian cancers, it was announced today by Laurissa Phillips, general manager Rare Country, and Sherry Pollex, cofounder of the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation.  Cox Media Group’s Rare Country will serve as Official Media Partner for the The partnership will focus on exclusive news and updates from NASCAR   driver Martin Truex Jr. and his life partner, Pollex, as she battles stage 3 ovarian cancer and shares her journey on SherryStrong.org, as well as focusing on the Foundation’s annual Catwalk for a Cause fundraiser in May.

Just last week, Rare Country interviewed Pollex after she completed her latest round of chemotherapy treatment and before she headed to the Daytona 500 to support Martin as he prepares to defend his championship title. The full article can be accessed here.

Phillips said: “Country music fans have always had a long-standing love of racing, and we are honored to partner with Sherry and Martin to help their organization support those affected by childhood and ovarian cancers. Sherry’s courage and willingness to share her personal story speaks to the heart and soul of our audience, as does the work of the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation. We look forward to sharing their stories of hope with our millions of followers.”

“When Martin and I began the foundation in 2007, our passion was helping families affected by childhood cancer,” Pollex explained. “We had no idea cancer would affect us so personally years later, when I was diagnosed. Through our fundraisers and SherryStrong.org, we want to help families find help and hope."

“SherryStrong.org is a health and wellness site for any woman, not just someone already fighting cancer. When my personal journey with cancer began, I educated myself on the power and possibilities of integrative therapies, which most oncology physicians aren’t trained to prescribe. From acupuncture to diet, yoga, meditation and the healing that comes from connecting with other survivors, I wanted to take everything I’d learned and share it with others. We’re excited about the possibilities in working with Rare Country and are honored to partner with them.”

The Martin Truex Jr. Foundation’s signature annual fundraiser, Catwalk for a Cause, is a night of celebration for families with children who have overcome or are still fighting cancer.

“The NASCAR community – family, really – has come out and supported us every single year, and every year the event gets bigger and better, somehow,” added Truex Jr. “Watching these brave kids strut down the runway is one of the proudest nights of our year.”

In 2017, Belk partnered with the foundation to produce the fashion show portion of the star-studded evening. NASCAR drivers and their significant others escort each celebrated child down a runway. Also new in 2017, award-winning country duo Florida Georgia Line performed. For information about the 8th annual Catwalk for a Cause, visit MartinTruexJrFoundation.org.
