Top-Ten Finish for A Good Points Day
Jamie McMurray in his No. 1, Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates, Chevrolet had a good day at Watkins Glen last Sunday. His eight place finish was his first top-ten at the Glen since 2010. More importantly, he was ahead of all his competition on the Chase bubble.
“We had a really good McDonald's car today. We qualified well and the first run I thought we had a fifth to eighth place car. I got blocked in on my last pit stop and lost about twenty spots when all were doing was fuel," Jamie recalled. "Honestly, the last couple of laps I probably could have held off the #47 and #18, but we are kind of points racing right now and it ended up being a good points day."
McMurray, who is win-less in 2016, is currently fifteenth on the chase grid. With less than a handful of races in the regular season points are crucial.
What do you do to celebrate if you’re a NASCAR driver and have a solid day on the road course at Watkins Glen?
